New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Oooh...

do I want this dress???

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/04/2012 21:58

I love that dress, MI!

motherinferior · 24/04/2012 22:10

Or this??

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/04/2012 23:07

Whenever I wear dresses like that I always feel like I am in an overall or an "old lady dress." I think it might be the print.

this is how I feel...

motherinferior · 24/04/2012 23:13

Thank YOU, MrsS Grin. I was kind of thinking of leggings and boots, dammit. So really not a goer, even on a shortarse like moi? Am I too old for the slight irony it would require?

MrsS that made me :) . Makes me think of classic range in m&s, I keep thinking if I ever say 'oh that's nice' about something in that range that's the day someone needs to take me out and shoot me....
BTM I work in a university - hence the schools.....
MI I preferred second dress, but suspect you could do the first one...

bigTillyMint · 25/04/2012 06:47

MI, the second one looks nice - not sure about the print on the first one - reminds me of a paint shop logo that we pass everytime we visit our friends in the Alps...!

ruby, I think I do want to increase my hours, although it was DH who was keen for me to go back to full-time at first! Ideally it would be 4 days a week, but that wouldn't work at our place, so if the job doesn't materialise, maybe I will look at doing something else? Or notSmile
So are you doing bikeability and something else?

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/04/2012 07:27

I quite liked the second one, MI. I am slightly Afraid of big prints and would look like a Liberty's sofa in the first one, but you are much smaller than me, so would probably be fine.

I am putting my print wrap dresses in the charity bin.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/04/2012 07:28

Who wears those old lady dresses these days? My mother is 79 and still skips about in jeans or jeggings.

Now you see, I prefer the first dress - I like the print [swims against tide] and also, I have one of Phase Eight's jersey wrap dresses which is bloody marvellous, has kept its shape and (cold) washes like a dream.

MrsS - love the pack of 3 dresses, what a bargain! God knows who wears them. I had one old friend of the family who dressed like that, but she died 5 years ago at the age of 101.

Stropps - thanks for those ideas re your part of the world. Have noted them down for our West Country camping trip in August. Love the look of the Boden-tastic fish cafe.

ruby, we've all been there (shouting/crying, I mean!) - don't over-stress about itSmile

MrsS, DM has never worn jeans (and is only 2 years older than yours), but even she would never be seen dead in one of them. Actually, maybe the care homes buy them for the "clients"?Sad

wilbur · 25/04/2012 10:27

Sorry you had a shouty crackers moment, Ruby, and sorry if there's pressures getting to you. Dcs will be fine, I'm sure, so deep breath and move on.

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 25/04/2012 13:11

Ruby - I think it does you good, clears the air, and all that.

I like the second dress, MI, particularly the price (bargain-hound that I am) and am even contemplating placing an order for myself......! But I can see you in the first one - I think it would suit your colouring.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 25/04/2012 14:27

Ah, I liked MI's dress no. 1, but I couldn't get away with wearing that print myself BUT I think MI probably could. Also, I loved the shape of the dress. I am still unconvinced that I can wear any dress at all. They all make me look about 102, whether or not they are from the Chums catalogue.

Ruby, hope you are feeling better today. My Job B is your Job A :) School has given me loads of hours this summer and I will be more or less full-time from mid-May until the end of June. Which means that loads of work will probably flood in for my other job and my head will explode.

Oh dear, ds has "hacked" into dd's Facebook account. She is not pleased.

herbaceous · 25/04/2012 16:56

Larks.

I have a new self-diagnosed condition: gluteal amnesia. It's a thing! Alan Carr talked about it in an interview, and said it was the cause of his lower back ache. I put two and two together - lower back ache, no arse - and made five. And indeed, when I concentrate on what I'm doing, my arse seems to make no effort whatsoever in any movement. So, now I'm clenching like billy-ho at all moments.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 25/04/2012 17:09

Herbs, dh has that condition and the physio even gave him exercises to combat it. Lots of bridge and plank ones. And he is supposed to get up from the computer and stretch once an hour. This only happens when his back starts hurting again, though.

bigTillyMint · 25/04/2012 20:01

I am drowning in a sea of possible mobile phone deals. Aaargh!

What phones do you have, my fellow crepeys? Do I need a smartphone? I seem to manage just fine with an old Nokia, but I feel so old-fashioned.....

What is this back/bum thing? Do you get it from sitting on your arse for hours on end?
