New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Don't be a twit, herbs. :) We need a "solidarity" emoticon, like MI said. The "B" bit of the S&B is that we can just say anything and everything here. I really, really feel for you having to watch your dad's decline. I too have a "Dad in the good times" photo (looking kindly in front of icebergs in Alaska), because I hate to think of the way he was during his last few years.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 27/04/2012 19:10

I have discovered the downside of doing the circuit training twice a week: it has made my thread veins on my face a lot worse. Went for electrolysis today and I now have a face like a pizza. I usually just get a little patch or two of pink. Not this time. I look like I have Slapcheek.

Blackduck · 27/04/2012 19:10

Hey Herbs Stropps is right, this is a place to let it all hang out. I have just come back from London meeting three old college friends and lunch was a bit like being on here (only with food and wine) as we covered children, holidays, ageing Ps, books, films, middle aged spread, dodgy knees, cancer, (non) house moves (I promise i wont mention it) etc etc....see that's why I like these threads :)

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2012 21:11

Yeah, don't be a twit HerbsSmile
I couldn't go and see my father as he was dying in hospital as I wanted to keep the image of him being the big, strong, gregarious, funny, affectionate man that I knew as a small child, even though I hadn't seen him for the previous 20 or so years after my mum finally divorced him - he was an alcoholic. So I completely understand how difficult you are finding it, particularly as you have had so many happy years with him.

Stropps, I have recently read on here that the oil cleansing method can be good for redness - I think I am going to give it a go when I get round to buying the right kind of oil.....

Blackduck · 28/04/2012 06:22

BTM just for you here

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 09:02

Thanks BDSmile

herbaceous · 28/04/2012 10:36

Thanks ladies. Made me blub again, but that's probably a good thing.

I had a good night out with old pals last night, which perked me up no end. Brought me out of myself, as they say. There was me, DP, and seven of my gays. Laughed non-stop.

Beauty news: I bought some of that S&G Wish Upon a Jar 21-day collagen turnaround cream (or something) and have been putting it on at night for the last few days. Already I feel like a new woman! It's brill.

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 10:45

Laydeez, I am traumatised.

I saw DP dancing last night Shock Shock Shock

Blackduck · 28/04/2012 11:24

We want details MI Grin

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 11:52

No. NO. I didn't look. I couldn't.

My new frocks have arrived but I don't think I can squash my norks into the Ghost one.

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 11:56

Just two words:

Dad Dancing.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/04/2012 13:40

I feel your shame, MI.

DH, who fancies himself as a bit of a dandy, has bought himself some new socks. Cashmere ones, and merino wool ones, which can't be tumble dried. He has no idea of the inconvenience of sorting through the washing to pull out six socks before everything else gets chucked in the drier.

Sorry about your Dad Herbs. Blub and rant away on here.

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 13:44

Was he drunk? DH only dances when he is drunkGrin

Blackduck · 28/04/2012 14:17

MrsS I have a small boy you can send those socks onto when they get shrunk in the wash :)
Dp epitomises that saying 'dance like you don't care' :)
MI why was he dancing?

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 14:55

I've done it - ordered my new phoneShock and on contract for the first time everShock

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 15:08

He was dancing, I fear, because I was dancing. I didn't realise he was going to break the habit of a lifetime and dance too Shock Blush

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 15:09

Where was it, MI?

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 15:14

At a wedding. Oh god, the shame. He was sober too....(I wasn't).

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 15:44

Was it really THAT bad - DH's dancing is fairly unnoticeably dad-dancing, probably only marginally worse than my mum-dancingGrin Was he waving his arms about and doing silly leg moves, or showing his hip-hop / breakdancing moves?

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 15:49

Waving his arms and sort of jogging. You know the kind of thing.

Blackduck · 28/04/2012 15:57

Oh yes, dp does that....... But why, MI, what bought this on :)

motherinferior · 28/04/2012 16:04

I said 'oh, this incredibly old song (I'm a Believer), I love it, I'll go and dance to it'. And he kind of followed me. He was trying to bond, I think.

Blackduck · 28/04/2012 16:21

I'd get worried if I was you :)

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2012 17:41

wilbur · 28/04/2012 18:49

Have just googled the Wish Upon a Jar stuff - looks fab, although I am somewhat Hmm about its claim to "hide flaws" unless it contains instructions to place the bag it came in over my head. S&G stuff v good IMO. And yes, yes to facial oils, although I haven't tried the oil cleansing ones. I luuuuurve them - currently using Neals Yard orange facial oil, although I like the sound of the Clarins ones in Blackduck's link.

MI - the problem you face now is how to stop him ever dancing again without hurting his manly I'm-as-good-as-Travolta-me pride.
