Best I could come up with......

Oh and great news that you're better Ants.

Also, on the kitchen front, we've neglected to sort out tiling/splash back and need to. Any thoughts? DH thinks white metro tiles may be a little clinical and a colour might be an option. Everything is quite white and stark with the odd industrial touch and some bright primary colours here and there.

AmberNectarine · 21/01/2012 18:51

It was just a 10 day pop up mim, they do it every sale period. Will make sure I post on here when the summer one arrives.

MidnightinMoscow · 21/01/2012 18:58

Thanks Amber, at least I didn't just walk past it!

Red We have something very similar to these as the splash back behind the oven and then cream metro ones everywhere else.

There are some really good ideas on the Fired Earth site.

Russianred · 21/01/2012 19:39

Thanks Mim, have just ordered a sample of this one! Think they'd work well with our big light fitting here. Whistles jumper sounds lovely.

loobylu3 · 21/01/2012 19:46

Red- I adore fired earth tiles and we have slightly creamy coloured retro metro tiles in our kitchen. However, your kitchen sounds modern in design (also lovely in the right kitchen). Have you considered coloured glass as a splash back? I don't now of any companies but I'm sure you could get hold of something to coordinate.
Hopefully, the resident expert, verity will come along to comment.

loobylu3 · 21/01/2012 19:49

Just saw your other post red. That is exactly the tile that we have but in a different colour. They are lovely- gorgeous cracked glaze. They just feel a bit more earthy to me in the kitchen or perhaps deco feeling in the right bathroom. Does that make any sense?

Russianred · 21/01/2012 19:51

We have thought about coloured glass and possibly acrylic, but it's quite a small area to tile (hob on an island) and there are lots of sockets to factor in - it's on the return, so there is a windowsill and sink involved too. Will go and investigate now.

Makes perfect sense - deco is the overall look we're going for, so could work, I think.

Saw some nice ones at Whistles today NYE, but not sure if any would meet your criteria completely , have a look here

Russianred · 21/01/2012 20:06

Blue/Zembo/Reine/MrsCB - nice Anglomania in an XS here.

Hopefully · 21/01/2012 20:15

NB: for NYE's 'svelte' read: 'not a complete lard arse any more, but still in possession of capacious saddlebags' Grin

My mother is obsessed with tidying. Just sat down to chill after getting DSs to bed and Shredding and she announced, "you can have 10 minutes then I want you to sort your tea towels with me". I wish I was joking.

Assuming I am released from tea towel duty before bed I will catch up on thread properly Hmm Grin

MidnightinMoscow · 21/01/2012 20:37

Red they are the tiles we have! I'll take a picture for you in daylight tomorrow if it would help.

Some nice belts in French Connection NYE.

Hopefully · 21/01/2012 22:06

Right, have escaped from tea towel hell.

NYE I'm not completely certain about that coat on you, although could possibly work really well. Hard to call.

Loving all the decorating talk - we are thinking of buying this year after years of renting, and I am planning on buying every single decorating magazine known to mankind when we finally do Grin

Ants hurrah for drama-free peeing! Glad you're feeling better.

Amber reversible jeans sound alarming, like they would chafe.

Am still trying to find the perfect scarf to add to my hoard. Don't think any of the current Lily and Lionel prints are quite right Sad and can't find anything else. My accessories quest continues though - I have ordered a belt today and might go wild and attempt to order a cheap bangle/cuff or two tomorrow. Oooh, NYE that reminds me, I stupidly left that lovely ring at yours. I do want it!

Right, better go to bed in case DS2 pulls another 4:30am stunt.

MiM, no, sorry, the WC code I had expired. They are like Boden, I'm sure there will be a code again soon!

MarshaBrady · 22/01/2012 08:35

Thanks Looby! I'm lucky that everyone at ds' school are the same style-wise. Ever expanding wardrobes, colour etc

Thanks for feedback on skinnies, must admit the big discount did help my decision.

Annie skirt sounds lovely, hope this week isn't too too hectic.

We are near Marylebone today so will have a little look in Matches, CdeC and Sandro.

MidnightinMoscow · 22/01/2012 08:47

Morning.

Hope you managed to get some sleep Annie.

Thanks Carciofi anyhow!

Have a lovely day Marsha.

We are off swimming this morning, DH has promised to have DS in the leisure pool pool of hell whilst I have a bit of a swim alone.

Have great Sundays everyone.

IceCreamCastles · 22/01/2012 08:51

Morning all,
You work so hard Annie!
Glad you're feelin better ants
I might try that mac NYE. I have been on the lookout for something similar.
Made a couple of random purchases yesterday- a navy padded casual (playground) coat in topshop sale. It's lovely and thick but of course doesn't do up at the moment. I was reduced to asking dd if she thought it would fit once the baby was born. She looked at me like I'd gone mad.

Also a BBH on sale at £25. Looking forward to trying it out.

Red-snap once again. We are also looking at tiles. I like the fired earth ones but can't decide on colour. You can get one piece glass splash backs but I think I prefer tiles.

We've just got doors and drawer fronts to go on now and general finishing off. We tried out the new induction hob last night-you're having one too aren't you? They are much quicker than gas or electric- exciting!

Blue- exciting that you are at the nesting phase- try to hold on until after Monday though Grin. don't be nervous about meet up. I was petrified the first time but everyone is lovely.

Really enjoying all the jeans talk- there seems to be a pair for everyone. Marsha- li like the yellow and grey combo.

Pickled- when will dd find out about music scholarship? Sounds like it was a worthwhile experience either way. Well done to her. Not long til 11+ results now is it?

carciofi · 22/01/2012 08:55

Marsha, lovely jeans. And MrsCB, I like the lavender ones too.

I have just ordered a pair of Hudson skinny jeans, not terribly exciting but good for every day and I have had to throw two pairs out this week.

Red, I think they did those Whistles t-shirts in different colours, I bought a pink one in the sale. Exciting that your kitchen is nearly ready.

Hopefully, have a look at Crumpet. They are better quality than Lily and Lionel, I think. Tea towel duty really made me laugh!

NYE, not sure about the cut of that trench coat.

MrBloss, great taste!
