Best I could come up with......

OP posts:
Hopefully · 21/01/2012 08:48

Morning! After my smugness of yesterday DS2 punished me by basically waking at 4:15am today and not really sleeping again. He is perfectly cheerful this morning, I am downing coffee (which I don't even like) to stay halfway awake.

Love the look of silk shirts, but I look like a frumpy old lady in them. Pah.

Fleecy thanks for the tip, will sign up to Cocosa (which I don't really understand. Do they run limited time special offer things all the time?)

MrsCB thankyou! Am not surprised that the thread consensus was yes - my instinctive reaction was 'urgh no', but the picture shows them really well styled and grown up looking.

Am debating scarves to order too, since the ballet print wasn't quite right on me. I am tempted by the gondola print, but also rather liking this we are owls scarf. It's pure cashmere though, so wondering if I'll get much use out of it in SS. Mind you, if it's as cold as last year...

blossoming · 21/01/2012 08:49

I think you and my DH could spend a happy few hours discussing the Pixies carciofi! Listens to them in the car every day!
I introduced him to YouTube last night and some of the bands my pupils talk about. He was in his element remembering these obscure bands he used to listen to!

mrscb, I have been studying the Sweaty Betty catalogue like a mad woman recently, and the gorgeous model, ta da.. has an ident! Not as defined as mine admittedly. Thanks for the knickers link.

Great news on the contracts mim.

Scenario here this morning: me and DS up at 6, me boiling a ham, making a ratatouille and two sticky gingerbreads. DH and Dd waking at 7.45. All pots and pans washed and put away! Ready for the day now, hope the bike hire shop is open!

mrscb, my only concern with the hudson jeans is the term super skinny. Is that the new term for jegging?
Love the colour and the styling though.
Hope you have a nice afternoon nye and hopefully and take some photos!

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/01/2012 09:43

Bloss - am hoping they're thickish denim but I quite like the super skinny - flattering I hope.

Await post in about an hour after postman has been and I am having a Red in JL moment Wink

Russianred · 21/01/2012 09:53

Morning all, at swimming whilst DH finishes painting the extension as kitchen being delivered today. This time next week it should be done! Are you as excited as i am Ice?!

Look forward to hearing about the lavender jeans Mrscb - they're very lovely.

Bloss , that is a very productive morning, well done! have fun in your new gear.

Pixies fans here too.

Hate phone posting, big wave to everyone, have lovely mornings.

MidnightinMoscow · 21/01/2012 09:54

I have a pair of Hudson skinnies, and they are not that skinny at all, which puts me off wearing them. I like the skinniness of my J Brand 910's mostly.

So I'd say that they won't be jegging like.

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2012 10:28

Pickled I have two cvs and neither know of the other, so completely separate.

Have a slightly nerve-wracking thing to do today and am wearing Stella grey zip skinnies, suede grey ankle boots, warm light grey American Vintage t and rose/blush Birger angora to get me through it.

Still need to catch up properly...

notyummy · 21/01/2012 10:50

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about your early start Hopefully. Well done on getting BFBM! There are a couple of circuits that I think are really easy....and 2 that are really hard. If you are short of time you could leave out the warm-up and go straight into circuit one - it was one of the very easy ones and is effectively like a warm-up anyway. I also rate 6 Week 6 Pack and No More Trouble Zones (just about to do that) but haven't been quite so impressed with Killer Buns. Ripped in 30 should be arriving next weekend as my birthday is then!

Zembo - would love to investigate the CdeC coated skinnies but am being foiled at every turn! can't find any on the internet, and when I went to the shop (in passing) last week there was a sign on the door saying 'on break, back in half an hour.' Hmm I mean, really!?

I ordered 2 cheapy pairs of coated skinnies from H and M. The cheapest arrived todaty and they are going straight back. 29 was too big (as I suspected they would be, but H and H sizing a bit erratic. They are really, really shiny which my legs don't need, frankly. Waxed/rock and roll - yes. Shiny/spandexy a la Studio 54 in 1975....no. Really thin denim as well. (Imagine that for £9.99....outrageous Wink) So back they go.

Good news on surviving L1 of the shred with no shower NYE! Maybe that means you should be doing two....??

Hope the nerve wracking thing goes ok today Marsha.

Zembo · 21/01/2012 12:00

MrsCB so pleased you're feeling the Roxy love again. I wear with a scarf too (usually), it reduces the bikerness enough for me to feel comfortable. I'll be wearing minus scarf on Monday though so that it can subjected to full scrutiny Smile. Looking forward to hearing about the lavender jeans. Saw some yellow ones in CdeC last week.

NY I've had that 'gone for lunch' sign at the CdeC shop too, v frustrating. Staff are a bit thin on the ground there.

The burgundy Leighs are here (Topshop delivery is sooo fast), will try them on later.

Currently debating whether or not to take the DC to a local Chinese New Year lantern procession - it's 5.30-6.30, so close to the whole bedtime routine. I think we'll go if the weather holds up as they'll love being out in the dark. They don't like missing their evening bath though (missed it yesterday as we were at yet another birthday party) Smile.

OllieinOrange · 21/01/2012 13:19

Back from a quick family shopping trip with random buys including replacement scooter for DS1, new sheets for our bed and (who knew that DH had so many views on different sheet types - took forever!) cute clocks for DSs rooms (in a last ditch attempt to get DS1 to stay in his room after 9pm and DS2 not apear from his before 6.30am) and 2 lego models to be put away for our flight in May.

I really enjoyed reading the lilac jean thread MrsCB. What brand did you order in the end?
NYE I used to help with hospital radio when I was in the sixth form. Used to go round the wards asking for any requests - quite funny really given how squeamish I am and some of the sights I saw! Only really did it cos I fancied one of the DJs and was trying to be cool in a "yeah, I work in radio" way. Hmm

Got DH to ring DHL as they were a no show yesterday. Apparently they dont deliver on Saturdays so will try again on Monday morning. Hope this dress lives up to all this hype.....

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 21/01/2012 14:02

I ordered the hudsons and love them. Not too skinny - well what I'd call skinny as opposed to super-skinny. I could have possibly sized down but with lighter denim would rather they weren't too skin tight.

Ollie - I am in such suspense over your dress - I really hope you love it.

blue2711 · 21/01/2012 14:39

Sounds like everyone is having productive Saturdays. I am nesting madly here, sorting out cupboards and ruthlessly culling DS's toys at a pleasing rate. He is so active and boisterous at the minute but a little charmer too; when he first saw me dressed and ready to go out for breakfast this morning he said,"you look pretty, mummy" with real feeling! He definitely does not get this from his father, a man who has been calling me "fatty" for months.

mrscb really enjoyed the lavender jeans thread too and would have contributed but it had all been said really. The DA styling was great and I do think most items can be made age appropriate with the right shoes / bag / scarf etc. Glad you got the hudsons and bet you make them look great. I do feel my desire for coloured skinnies has not been sated yet but like mim am hoping that TS leighs will fill all my needs after the baby. Will definitely copy zembo and get the burgundy and fancy cobalt blue and emerald green too if I find some. red, those warehouse leopard ones are a great find!

fleecy really liked your outfit yesterday. And both your MW purchases were very very me. Fantastic colours and that dress has shot to the top of my wishlst. Will be doing some hunting for it or something similar.

marsha your outfit today also gorgeous. You always sound so polished and sophisticated. Hope the nerve-jangling thing goes well.

icey how exciting about your kitchen! Really looking forward to meeting you, ny and zembo on Monday. Bit nervous though! DH thinks it's hilarious but great.

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2012 14:48

Thanks Ny and Blue! The thing went better than expected, but still room for improvement. Thanks for lovely compliment too Blue. I am not very polished but I do get lots of enjoyment from the stuff I buy these days.

I agree re coloured jeans and feel a desire to get more. The lavender ones looked lovely.

Dauphin · 21/01/2012 15:23

Quick hi to say I love the idea of yellow jeans too...will pop in to C de C for a look Zembo. I really love a pop of yellow and orange in spring/summer. Enjoy your mini meet up next week everyone.

Have nipped to JL for my customary beauty fixes: Philip Kingsley hair stuff; and Clarins face oil, and after a play in the park we are happily ensconced watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

mrscb/Bloss - I like skinny and super skiny too.

Icey/Red am so envious of your new kitchens...I have planned mine in my head, and moved in already, but a long way off yet as still in building design stage, but do enjoy daydreaming about it....can't wait for everything to be shiny new.

AmberNectarine · 21/01/2012 15:33

Hello all

Back from kiddies party, gingerbread went down a storm! Wore pink 811s, khaki Vince t shirt, purple/pink LV leopard scarf, Pistols and black leather biker. Clashy but good, I thought.

fleecy great buys! Glad you liked the C/Es, they are such a lovely pink, but too low rise for my (to quote red) bezza!

mrsCB love those jeans, wrong colour for me, but so gorgeous!

Marsha fab outfit!

bloss what a dynamo, by 7.45am I was still languishing in bed!

Might check out Harrods sale tomorrow, as it's the last day. Will keep eyes peeled for Sapphire 811s!

Has anyone seen Bleulab jeans here? They are reversible so 241 in effect, would like to try! Also also see on Donna Ida Houlis are back in new colours...

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2012 15:42

Based on that comment Dauphin I have purchased some light yellow skinnies. I wanted some but feared the Bird effect. We shall see! Grin.

Thanks Amber love your clashy outfit too.

pickledsiblings · 21/01/2012 15:48

Marsha, I was just about to link to some TS yellow ones and say that they would look good on you. I am sure they would look great on you too Dauphin Smile. Glad today went well for you Marsha; 'cool' suits you better than 'polished'.

LoL at cool 'I'm in radio' Ollie Grin.

Have a great weekend everyone - kiddy party beckons and no way do I look as good as you Amber.

notyummy · 21/01/2012 15:51

At gymastics wearing new DP coated indigo skinnies which I really quite like, with new Zara printed tee and grey biker boots.

Love the sound of your outfit Amber.

Has anyone got coated Leighs from TS? Quite fancy the idea. As recommended in Marie Claire!

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2012 17:14

Great outfit NY. I don't know much about the Leighs.

These are the yellow skinnies current/elliott. They do make we want a grey blazer too. Hopefully fresh and sunny rather than.... hmm something else.

Thanks Pickled!

loobylu3 · 21/01/2012 17:19

Trying to keep up!

Older DCs had tennis lessons this am then a long play with friends while I chatted to their mum- everyone happy!
I have treated myself to some v expensive steak in an effort to eat plenty of iron.
Thank you v much for the TS Leigh maternity jeans advice icey and blue. Have ordered and received a burgundy pair- lovely soft, stretch material and great colour- will go with lots and can see myself wearing them to death. Tried size 8 and 10 and was v pleased to discover that the size 8 was a much better fit!

hopefully- thanks for thermal vest recommendations- have ordered. Weather is a bit bizarre- two v cold days, then so mild again.
Are you an Autumn? I think that I am a deep Autumn (self diagnosis). If a 2 hr session is possible- (thanks you amber), I might be able to make it! I think it would be more fun with a friend so will have to try to persuade someone , :)

marsha- you do always sound so stylish- totally agree with the others. I love the way you experiment with colour and love the sound of all your lovely designer pieces. VB and Birger always look great to me although don't actually own anything by other designer (not yet anyway).

Lovely Pure silk shirts carciofi and NYE. I wanted one in the red but waited too long and now all sold out. Exciting about your training NYE. I have been perusing the HOC website to see what is available in my area.

red- v exciting news re your kitchen and icey you too! Dauphin- I think the planning is the most exciting part in a way. You have a lovely kitchen to look forward to! Icey- reflux is horrible. I assume that you are already on the gaviscon/ peptac so ranitidine/ omeprazole would be the next step. I imagine that you would need to get it prescribed though- worth calling the GP if you haven't already.

fleecy- fabulous pink jeans and VW dress- great colours!

MrsCB- although lavender is not for me (prefer bright/ deep colours), I love the DI and imagine that they would look great on someone with the right colouring.

bloss- did you have a good cycle ride? Congratulations on your weight loss too.

zembo- can't remember if I already said congratulations on the permanent job for your DH. I have only been to Glasgow once but really liked and some lovely houses; my friend has one as you describe. Chinese lantern parade sounds fun- tis NY soon right?

pickled- wonderful to hear that you DD enjoyed her music scholarship interview! I used to do lots of music when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. My younger brother had one though and possibly my sister- can't quite remember now (my school wasn't posh enough for proper music scholarships). My older DC don't seem terribly interested in classical music- more into chart stuff and street dancing. DD2 (nearly 3) does seem musically inclined though. She really enjoys it when I play classical music and seems to immediately understand the spirit of the piece (by comments or the way she dances to it). Will have to wait and see...

Hello to everyone else that I have missed.

AntPants1 · 21/01/2012 17:43

Gosh this thread is moving fast. You ladies are on fire!!

Pure leopard cardigan arrived and is a keeper www.purecollection.com/.Cashmere-Animal-Print-Cardigan_LK-D28.htm

Also bought great pencil skirt from whistles with a zip on the hem which means you can have the slit as high or low as you want. The Mia if anyone wants to have a look on the site.

Anti biotics have worked. Can now pee in peace. Hurrah!

MidnightinMoscow · 21/01/2012 18:46

Glad to hear you are feeling better at long last Ants.

Good news on the lavender jeans MrsCB, they sound lovely for spring.

Marsha your outfit for today sounds so 'together'! Nice jeans, and agree the styling with the grey blazer is very good on MW.

Zembo I saw those Comptoir yellow jeans today in their window, they are a great colour.

Sounds like you are both at the finishing line now red and Icey, can you share some pictures when its all done please?

Am also waiting to hear the feedback on the HL dress Ollie...hopefully you'll soon be wearing it.

We drove to Wimbledon Village for lunch today. Amber where is that Matches outlet store? Or was it just a pop up for a short time? Anyhow, had a wander and lunch in a pub and I picked up an angora jumper in Whistles in the sale. Not very exciting, just plain ivory with a round neck. But very wearable and shouldn't date.

Russianred · 21/01/2012 18:47

Ooh Marsha lovely jeans and what a keen price!

Glad to hear the lavender ones have gone down well MrsCB, they certainly are lovely.

Good to hear so many people are feeling the Leigh love. They don't seem to be terribly dissimilar to 811s in material/cut etc, so definitely a bargain, I think.

Love the sound of your outfits today Amber and Marsha, as always.

Am Envy at nipping into Harrods Amber - had a change of heart about the emerald 811s and they were then, of course, out of stock. I do miss some of my shopping excursions - everything here isn't in one place and I find that frustrating.

Had a brief solo foray into Whistles to pick up the garish blouse and also got a lovely white seam back t-shirt . The perfect cut, but it is a little see-through. Am hoping they do some in other colours as the season goes on as my plan is to wear a lot of basic tees/coloured jeans combos this S/S - have realised that I am much happier being bolder on my bottom half.

Nesting is exciting Blue, could mean something is happening soon?! Hope not before the MU though. Bless your DS - mine was amusing the Laura Mercier counter in JL today by commenting on all that they were doing (had a little consultation on brow pencilling); 'and what does that do? Oh Mummy, you are beautiful' etc etc.
