Best I could come up with......

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 20/01/2012 17:42

Did he Amber ah will have some words with ds2.

Blue love wild card buys,

Hopefully exciting about the Marants!

Red next week, I need to think what I'd like too, well, that depends on what they say of course.

MarshaBrady · 20/01/2012 17:43

Great news about good jeans Red, I like those a lot.

blossoming · 20/01/2012 18:07

I didn't realise there was an AIBU on skinnies v bootcuts. My fault for constantly being on my iphone, and just refreshing this thread! I bought my first pair of skinnies after I saw a much older and heavier person wearing a pair on tv, with ballet flats and a long flowing top. I hadn't seen anything so elegant! The thing for me has always been the ability to wear skinnies with flats, whereas bootcuts/skinny flares etc need heels. And a mum needs flats to run around after kids, and to walk the miles that we do around them!
I think skinny jeans can be worn like leggings, or opaque tights, but you wouldn't wear those without a dress/tunic/bum covering top.

My dear dd has passed me her cold. Have loss of appetite (every cloud..), but managed to wipe the white board clean with my cashmere beret by mistake earlier.

Sweaty Betty order arrived and is a keeper. I got these all weather trousers, and if you click on the link, the model in the video is wearing an electric blue top, which just so happens to be one of my best colours. Thanks again to amber for the code. I fancy a ride round the lake tomorrow, it's 12 miles, with a dangerous bend with heavy traffic. DH said he'd drive me and ds round that bit! See how I feel. Feel guilty about leaving dh with dd, but I did suggest I take them both to Chester so he could do some work, and he didn't like that idea. Just feel I need something to look forward to as I have mil on Sunday.

You have a good agnes radar amber. I am very tempted. portia looked great in her black ones at MU.
Very exciting about your colours, and if carciofi has hers done too.

It really is the best thing I've done, and the style day too. It has taken me a while to appreciate the style day, but now I 'get' it. The Wrap catalogue went straight into the bin for example, as it is too unstructured for my style. Really helpful.
Will try and catch up properly over the weekend. Jealous the midlands girls have a MU to look forward to!

herecomesthsun · 20/01/2012 18:32

Isn't this the VW dress that was linked to down-thread somehere? (excuse link to DM)

pickledsiblings · 20/01/2012 19:08

Bloss, had a giggle at the cashmere beret mishap. Twice this week I have written on the IWB with a marker pen - oops. Are you sure you should be doing a 12 mile cycle if you have a cold, I know you're desperate to wear your new swetty betty outfit but...

Marsha, glad you managed to impress again at your interview - do your two work worlds ever collide? How did DS1 get on with his interview btw?

Icey, sorry about the flats not fitting. I don't think it's the best time to be buying new shoes as your feet will most probably 'shrink' once the baby arrives - can't you wait a while longer? How's the house coming along, got anything for your wall yet?

Ollie, meant to say, thank you so much for sorting out the room - I can Paypal you if you'd like.

Nice lightweight starry scarf for those of you that love stars like I do.

Reine, DH is fairly musical although self taught, me...not so much. DD had a great time at her audition yesterday and even got a clap for her singing - she was so delighted with herself. Even if nothing comes of it, it was a worthwhile experience.

MrsCB, get the lavender jeans!

Icey shame about the shoes, but wise I think. I'm planning to dress casually on Monday, coated Comptoir skinnies (NY they're ace, you should try them) and my new grey boots, which I'm wearing at every opportunity (passed the Roxy test with flying colours). It had better not rain.

Reine thanks for the positive Glasgow comments, moving there is a big deal for us as we'll be moving significantly further away from family and all of our friends. Also, I've ordered the burgundy Leighs, you're right the coated ones aren't exactly day wear (only due to colour in my books) and therefore too expensive on a cost per wear basis.

Blue you'll be pleased to hear that I tried the Theory shirt you linked to and it is indeed too big. I'm going to PM you my number just in case you can't join us due to exciting birthing action at the weekend.

IceCreamCastles · 20/01/2012 20:40

Ah-the opposite approach to cold shrinking feet ollie! it had already occured to me so I tried on lots of my other shoes to compare so I don't think so. I'll hold out for a pair that fit properly.

Great that you found jeans red. Would have thought that the animal print CEs would be a bit of a 1 season wonder so prob wise to go with a good high street alternative for now.

I love that coat blue. I couldn't pull it off but from my mental picture of you it will look great.

Glad interview went well marsha. And also glad that you share my liking of the hush bags!

I bought dd new shoes and fleece lined wellies today- made quite a significant dent in pocket and she's not even that impressed because they're not pink or purple (mean mother). Got her some pink jeans to make up for it though.

Nice scarf pickled. House is coming on pretty well. Kitchen fitting should be finished by midweek next week which will make a massive difference. Still need to pay someone paint it though.
Nothing on big wall yet either. I decided I don't want photos as they would have to be larger than life size which would be most unnerving! Some sort of abstract or landscape required I think.

Thank you to those who suggested heartburn remedies- I'll try to get the pharmacist to give me some Zantac this weekend.

hello to everyone else- hope you have good weekends

notyummy · 20/01/2012 20:59

I'll have to be at least semi smart on Monday for the Midlands MU due to being in the office. Still not decided what to wear though!

Emo76 · 20/01/2012 21:10

pickled that's a really pretty scarf.

ladies I have just linked to A WEAR SALE on this board - some incredible bargains (if they fit!)

Fleecy · 20/01/2012 21:11

Shame about the Blochs icey and gutted you missed DHL ollie - was looking forward to hearing about the dress.

red I love those jeans - good spot.

And nice to see some love for Dorothy Perkins on here. I have a couple of l/s tees from there that are years old and have washed well and really kept their shape. A total bargain. Am also wearing jeans from there today.

Speaking of which, quite pleased with today's outfit - ankle length indigo jeans, cream l/s tee under navy cardi, navy and cream zebra pattern Lily & Lionel scarf and taupe Jalouse. I'm quite liking them with cropped jeans and a little flash of ankle. It's about my only skinny bit at the moment Grin

I have got my MW order and am keeping these jeans - fab colour, this dress and some tights.

Congratulations on the interview marsha and well done your DD pickled

Hopefully · 20/01/2012 21:33

Bloss have you thought about/done the style development day? I couldn't quite decide whether I thought it was a way of making one part with more money or a good idea when my consultant was talking about it. I am loving browsing online and seeing things that I instantly love and realising that they are 100% me, instead of trying to talk myself into sensible/useful/my-mother-would-approve/stylish-in-a-not-me-sort-of-way purchases.

Fleecy those pink jeans are fab! Really very pink. So cool. And the dress. I really love so much of the Anglomania stuff. I might set up an eBay search just on the off chance something comes up that's right for me.

Have just been browsing for ring inspiration, as I have decided I need a nice statement ring, but one that's casual enough for day time. And came across the ring that would win the www.net-a-porter.com/product/174497 least-likely-to-survive-fourteen-seconds-in-the-vicinity-of-children award]]. Rather like the YSL arty rings a la Wendy, but can't justify it in any way.

Cheaper 811s and Marias arrived from Shopbop today, really impressed with speedy delivery! I only ordered them Wednesday afternoon. Haven't tried the Marias, but am optimistic and might wear them to see NYE tomorrow, so she can give a verdict.

blossoming · 20/01/2012 21:42

hopefully, I did the style day in October, 18 months after my colours. She loved the agnes, I was wearing, and the davina I had in my case. She also gave the green light for the roxy which I showed her online. But I didn't like her insistence on statement jewellery and belts. Because I am classic, I like expensive stuff, and that doesn't go with what she said. It'll take me a while to save for big statement expensive jewellery!
Are you keeping the agnes? Would suit your dramatic side I would think. Anything with zips iirc.

Zembo · 20/01/2012 21:48

Some bargain Ash high tops here for anyone who happens to be a size 4.

Hopefully · 20/01/2012 22:03

Bloss I knew you did the style day, was wondering whether your consultant had suggested the development one a few months down the line? Mine was quite keen on the idea, but can't decide. The statement jewellery/belts thing is difficult, even without a 'classic' side - it's actually really hard to find statement pieces on the cheap that don't look cheap, iykwim. I am resigned to only one or two dramatic accessories in my life any time soon Smile. Although I am assured that huge scarves count as dramatic, and I have a slight addiction there.

Definitely keeping the Agnes, they're lovely! A teeny fraction on the tight side, but as I'm in the midst of weight loss that seems a good thing - I quite like having an incentive to keep going now that the novelty value of diet and exercise has worn off.

Speaking of which, I am looking forward to my Banish Fat Boost Metabolism dvd arriving - although I still find Shred L3 really hard, I'm definitely not totally knackered at the end any more, and I'm not even slightly stiff the next day, doing it 5 or 6 days a week. Think it's time to face a workout of more than 20 minutes, tragically.

blossoming · 20/01/2012 22:09

I think the Agnes tend to give a bit hopefully. Def a size or 2 bigger than the equivalent in Paige.
I didn't know about the style development day. Doubt whether I'll go again. I think my consultant struggled a bit with me last time. She had a script regarding shops and I tried hard to keep a straight face as she was recommending East and the Aritigiano catalogue. I think we have a very good idea about shops and styles from this thread, but the body shape and styles was very helpful and worth the money.

carciofi · 20/01/2012 22:14

Is that the mum purse, mum jeans thread, Bloss?

Fleecy, I like the pink dress and jeans.

Hopefully, the Agnes are great trousers.

I am contemplating jogging with the pushchair, I am stuck with 5lb to lose and no good at diets. I have given up carbs but only since this morning so no results yet unfortunately.

Zembo, best of luck with your move.

The knee has ripped on my old favourite Paige jeans, I look like I am on my way to a Pixies concert circa 1990 (that was a good night!). DD1 does a good rendition of This Monkey's Gone to Heaven.

Pure have reduced the price of the silk shirts so I had to get one.

AmberNectarine · 20/01/2012 22:46

carciofi have you tried buggyfit?

Fleecy · 20/01/2012 22:50

Grin at 'had to get one' carciofi - rude not to?!

everything I'd never thought about that part of the job. It does sound like fun.

hopefully I love VWA too. Cocosa sometimes have them so worth signing up there if you haven't already.

carciofi · 20/01/2012 22:54

No, the nearest class runs too late. Have you done it, Amber? I should go back to Shred or skip outside.

Ollie, keep meaning to say, I love that Joseph dress you linked to recently.

Cool jeans Red and that jacket looks fantastic, Blue.

carciofi · 20/01/2012 22:55

Absolutely, Fleecy!

MidnightinMoscow · 21/01/2012 07:52

Good morning.

Struggling to keep up with the thread at the moment.

Red I second the Whistles recommendation for good white t-shirts. Although saying that, I am going to get www.thewhitecompany.com/clothing/tops/curved-hem-linen-tshirt/this in white as its almost identical to my favourite Whistles t-shirt that has holes in it! Carciofi, do you have a WC code at all?

I am enjoying all the jeans chat, I cannot wait to get back into my normal jeans. Had a look at the coloured Leighs in TS, lovely colours in there. I really fancy the teal coloured ones.

Loft company coming today to sign contracts and sort out payments...very exciting to think its actually happening now!

Have lovely Saturdays everyone.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/01/2012 08:14

Morning.

Carciofi - I have 2 pure collection silk shirts and wear them a lot as they wash well where as equipment ones need dry cleaning.

So have ordered the lavender jeans - should arrive today. But DH was most unsure of the red NL skinnies I wore yesterday despite positive feedback on school run which is my fashion runway Wink

Also loving one of the new lily and lionel scarfs but their site seems to be down so will wait for a code.

Diet going well - my 'thin' jeans looking a lot better than they did.

Oh and tried roxy on again and do love it - looks a lot better now I've lost a bit of weight and also with a scarf.

Was amazed on my lavender jeans thread that the consensus was 'yes'.

I must say my school reunione next week has been a great motivator diet-wise.

Oh and am sure you all are already on this but must recommend these knickers for under skinnies. Super stretchy which I like as don't want to emphasise the indent. Can get from shopbop cheaper too.

Hopefully - I remember your wedding thread - you looked fab.

Blue - love that fur coat

Red - I often find warehouse good for jeans and love those leopard ones.
