Best I could come up with......

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 15:20

Oops, big organisational day has not quite gone to plan - laid down to feed the baby and have been asleep for a few hours! Blush

Did get as far as my underwear drawer and have thrown out everything I have worn whole pregnant or postnatal which leaves me with virtually nothing! This can only be a good incentive to stop wearing M&S grannies. Any good (practical) undie recs?

I'm going to have to try these skinnies now aren't I? Am meeting DH for lunch in town on Weds and was planning on popping to Knightsbridge so will see if Harrods has them.

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 15:30

Amber, I really recommend these knickers for every day wear to go with black/white/nude bras. They are comfortable, but have a silky sort of finish to them which is a nice change from the big pant cotton hell I am in now!

Nice top Red, although I hate to burst your weather bubble...its set to get really cold this weekend I'm afraid.

annie about the necklace, although at least it broke now rather than months down the line.

I need to purchase some nightwear for the birth too, last time I wore some cheap nightdresses from M&S which I threw away afterwards as I couldn't look at them ever again. Grin

In fact I am hoping to get my bag packed in the next couple of weeks. DS was 2 weeks early and I have had a strong feeling this one will be too for some time.

Have decided these will be a good springtime buy if I can track down a 38 anywhere.

blue2711 · 10/01/2012 15:32

TV production does not sound boring red! Outfit sounds great. Nice eBay bargain. I've just bought this zara top from eBay thinking of summer too!

Am excited as both Zara and whistles deliveries have just arrived and am surrounded by goodies. Great shoes and rugby shirt style tops for DS in sale and I love the bronzey gold snakeskin tote which I have wanted for months. Might take it to hospital for my bits and bobs for the hoped for overnight stay. (one of my friends was recently dispatched 1.5hrs after her baby was born ! but I'm hoping for at least one night and a chance for a little help with breast feeding).

The sequin skirt is great colour and weighty but hard to tell what on earth it will look like. Might be too big but will keep and sell in eBay if necessary I think.

Whistles coated skinnies are v tight! I think they come as small as TS tbh so am surprised at the comments about them being loose on others. I do like them but not sure they pass the roxy test as theyre quite stiff and rather too long on me... Oh for a bit more height!

OllieinOrange · 10/01/2012 15:34

Red Did you see these legging jeans here on the Gap website - in russian red. Maybe its a sign? Smile

I tried to buy those at the weekend mim! Sold out in my size too. Longing for some bright pink heels and flats at the minute but no joy as yet.

Really must get off this sofa and do something useful now!

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 15:45

blue you are the opposite of me, I couldn't wait to get home! I was so happy to be discharged same day with DD, with DS I had to stay in one night after my forceps delivery and I was so annoyed! I like that Zara bag too, glad you got it!

MiM they are just the sort of thing I am after, thank you!

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 15:50

Oh, I am hoping for a minimal stay too, after 5 nights post EMCS with DS. I did my hypnobirthing CD earlier, fell asleep again which means I am relaxed with it, but I am worried I am missing what the woman is saying!

They are lovely ollie - great find.

Amber shoes or draws? Grin

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 15:56

What do you all think of this dress for spring with a trench and flats.

Its a BF no-no isan't it? Would it be a total waste? In fact I need to some advice re BF and what to wear, as I only BF DS for a couple of weeks due to various hellish complications!

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 15:57

The pants! though I did see those shoes IRL, and they are very nice! I am looking for a red pair.

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 16:00

Amber NL have these. They are rather tomato red though. I have a few pairs of their pumps, cheap and usually only last one season but they do the job.

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 16:04

I don't know MiM, I wear dresses and I still bf (constantly). The key with a dress like that, I'm afraid, is leggings and a vest underneath, which is fine in winter, not so great in summer. Also depends if you can be bothered with the hoicking it up business. I am lazy so tend to stick to low cut dresses, or separates. The investment you need to make in breastfeeding is vests, vests, vests, as you will likely wear them under everything. I am quite a fan of the basic £3.99 spaghetti strap ones from H&M; come in a range of colours and a decent length.

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 16:05

Great style, but I'm after leather as I can't abide the sweaty feet synthetic gives me. If TS would just bring theirs out in leather I'd be golden.

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 16:06

You can tell none of us are working at the moment can't you? [studiously ignores housework and baby in bouncer]

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 16:10

Yes, see leggings would ruin the look I had in mind.

Have seen those H&M vests, I'll get a few soon.

Know what you mean about the sweaty feet situation MiM tries to forget her nursing shoes sitting under her desk at work right now.

Hopefully · 10/01/2012 16:22

Blue I contemplated a pair of Jalouse, but I'm never sure about suede with a worn looking toe, so I need to see them in RL to decide. The tan ones look rather lovely though.

Nightwear - I am a disaster! Recently bought some semi-acceptable M&S nightshirts and pyjama bottoms/camisoles as I had been wearing the same shapeless maternity/BFing ones since giving birth. DS2 is 9.5 months Blush

Red I am Envy at your curls. My hair is poker straight and v dull. And hasn't been cut for 15 months. Double Blush. Luckily I don't ever get split ends, but it is now elbow length.

MIM dress looks nice, v simple. Possible to BF in if you don't mind hocking up your top and wearing a vest, as Amber says. Poss a no go for first couple of months as you prob don't want to lift your dress in Starbucks or wherever, but for days when you'll only be popping out and can feed at home it sounds fine. And yy to vests for endless layering when feeding. Wrap dresses also useful.

Have made dinner though, so that totally counts as my chores done for the day.

carciofi · 10/01/2012 16:36

Hi, well, I am back and have quit my bellyaching! Sorry for bringing down the mood. Thanks for the kind words. DH has said a weekly babysitter is a necessity and I have already found someone else, she came in for a couple of hours earlier. I feel bad as the girls are lovely but I am with them on my own all week so really need a few hours. It sounds quite spoilt, doesn't it?! I am also discombobulated as we are planning to move back but it won't be for a while so I should just get on with it and enjoy life here. I will be Verity or Rufus's neighbour soon!

Like the sound of your outfits. I am wearing True Religion Stella (great skinny jeans), Jigsaw top which Bloss also has, Stuart Weitzman knee high boots and Crumpet scarf with old black leather blazer when out earlier (ON MY OWN!).

Paige jeans are good, I am quite fond of them.

Blue, I definitely have shopaholic urges which I make minimal effort to control.

Bloss, I've seen that movie, it's fantastic.

Roary, good to hear from you. My cousins say shopping in Melbourne is good so maybe you should take a trip there.

Hopeful, I forgot to say hello. I saw a lovely Weekend by MaxMara brown biker jacket a while ago but can't find the link now.

Rufus, the DVF dress will be lovely on you. It took me a while to work out what FHC was! Sarah may come over for a visit soon, if not, I think I need some Wine in Dublin.

Verity, really like the sound of your J Crew jacket.

No longer length Hush pjs left, grrr.

I decided against the Whistles jeans as they sound like they are too short for me.

Amber, I would love the black Agnes if they are still available. How much are you looking for?

I left hospital asap. I felt like a prisoner after having DD1, I didn't even know what floor I was on!

Better go feed my darlings.

carciofi · 10/01/2012 16:39

BTW, I have magenta Blochs in a size 7 up for offer. I find them quite uncomfortable but maybe it's just me.

carciofi · 10/01/2012 16:39

Sorry, Hopefully, got your name wrong!

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 16:47

Carciofi don't feel bad, everyone needs some alone time! I don't quite get it yet, due to DD's steadfast refusal to take a bottle/cup/receptacle of any kind, but DS's day and a half at nursery means I can get some housework done (today not best example) and get out for a browse etc. Think it does him as much good as me as this morning he kissed me on the lips, said 'bye', and ran off without a backward glance! Will PM you re. Agnes.

Hopefully am Envy of your long hair, mine gets to shoulder length then starts to look awful! Are you excited about your style day? Any clues what you might be?

Right, better go and collect my firstborn!

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2012 16:49

blue you have every right to be on the sofa being completely useless if you fancy it! Surprised you hadn't clocked the Aggies on our favourite lady before, she did a whole YouTube vid featuring them!

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2012 16:53

Icey - I am Smile at me and vicki b in the same sentence - she often calls me to check on an outfit Wink

Annie - I washed the whistles jeans earlier and they've gone a bit streaky - not impressed!

I must say my gap coated ones didn't wash well either - the cdec ones have washed a lot better but they're very different material.

Red - we were at the aquarium earlier - have you been?

carciofi · 10/01/2012 16:55

Amber, thanks, it is great he's so confident. DD1 is too, hope it lasts.

MrsCB Grin at you and VB!

MidnightinMoscow · 10/01/2012 17:22

MrsCB I though Liz H also gave you a bell every now and then re leopard advice? Grin

carciofi glad you are feeling brighter today. No, not at all do you sound spoilt at wanting some time to yourself. The thing about SAHM'ing is that you never really get a break. At least I get to take to odd AL day and put DS in nursery. Glad that DH agrees the babysitter is essential and that you found someone reliable.

IceCreamCastles · 10/01/2012 17:41

Grin mrscb I thought you'd like that.

carciofi · 10/01/2012 18:54

Thanks Mim. I think Dh was worried I was going to take the girls and go to Ireland a couple of years earlier than planned! I probably wouldn't have much help there either. My aunts are busy with their own grandchildren.

Well, I need to ebay my Agnes too, 30 is loose now and they look better tight.
