Best I could come up with......

OP posts:
MidnightinMoscow · 17/01/2012 15:47

Don't get the Office ones, because if you are not 100% on how they look now then you'll end up never wearing them.

My Jalouse feel big on me, but I love them so much that I still wear them loads. I have found them to be the perfect casual shoe with a heel, and will wear them loads next year.

Can you order the Dickers, and also go and get some insoles for the Ash? Then try them both on at home and compare the two? One thing I would say is that if the fit of the Jalouse really bother you, then you might not wear them as often as you'd like.

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 16:04

MIM, you speak much sense, oh wise one. I have actually been wearing the Jalouse round the house and can already feel myself thinking of them as loose like slippers rather than loose like too big (they are v comfy, aren't they?). I won't rush into a decision (for once), but will get some insoles tomorrow, wear them round the house a bit, and decide whether to order the Dickers when I see how much of my NAP and other four online orders I'm keeping.

Dauphin · 17/01/2012 16:13

Hopefully... I am very conscious of having bought things in the past, which weren't 'perfect' (to my mind), and they have then languished at the bottom of the wardrobe. I am very much going to buy only things I really like in future (or fit perfectly, otherwise it's so frustrating). If I were you I would therefore get the Isabel Marant Dickers. They are beautiful, and I can imagine you getting loads of wear out of them.

I too think January is too early for buying SS, especially with this weather! I took DD out on usual country lane walk, but was frozen...

Meant to say Amber - lovely photos!

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2012 16:30

Hopefully I tried the Marant ones in Liberty. They are on my maybe list for SS. I can't quite recall what they were like in RL, be interested to know what you think.

That and some good ballet flats.

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2012 17:23

I love my Jalouse, I have insoles in them. Those Marants are niiiice though. You know what I really want, even though they are a one season wonder? The Marant high tops.

Has anyone else seen the Karl collection in Grazia today? There were some trousers that made me think of bloss, will find and link later.

Cheap shopping trip, apart from baking supplies I only came away with the Zara snake print vest notyummy has. Unfortunately my mum is making noises about a shopping trip and that woman is an enabler extraordinaire so this restraint won't last.

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 18:03

You are all not helping my willpower with discussion of how nice the Marants are! Dauphin more wise words. Need to remember the Roxy Test! At least I've got a really good incentive to make sure I really love the clothes I have arriving this week - if I send back enough, I can totally justify Marants Smile

Have just realised how many times I have posted today. It is because I am trying to do my tax return, so am procrastinating in every single possible way.

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2012 18:08

Yep totally justify Grin Marant high tops sound very good too.

I have been doing freelance work and looking after my scrappy children. At one point I just lobbed some icecream cones at them (well not lobbed) so I could talk on the phone to client for 10 minutes in peace. The good news is that it worked Grin.

I deserve something nice for that stress surely.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/01/2012 18:14

Hopefully have you seen the nl version of the marants - worth a look perhaps.

Blue - I've got quite a few silk shirts - a couple from pure and then a couple of equipment ones which I got from the outnet. I wear tucked in as don't like shirts out on me. I don't often wear a belt as the shirt being bagged over covers them but do have a nice one from whistles and a leopard print one from boden.

The Marants are beaaautiful Hopefully. My Jalouse are quite roomy, even with insoles and I probably don't wear them as much as I otherwise might. Very much like the NL version MrsCB has linked to. I may well pursue the purchase of those..!

I am limiting my purchasing for SA to the one dress..! I imagine I'll end up getting more though.

Must, must get my work done tonight - I have a deadline to meet and don't want to spend my birthday working.

notyummy · 17/01/2012 18:59

I bring news of a cheap yet lovely dress. Looks better if you look closely as is sparkly:

LBD - so flattering on, and potentially a MU dress with the right clutch and a big necklace.

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 19:11

NYE Is the silk shirt the one your wore on NYE? It's really lovely. You're definitely a lone voice on the Dickers! I am trying to avoid looking at the page with them on too much, as they are so nice and exactly what I want. yy to the ingenue/gamine leanings with my dear mama - I sometimes see myself leaning towards things like that and realise it's because I know she'll approve!

Ooh, my my-w order and a scarf I ordered have been dispatched, hope they come tomorrow!

Right, need to Shred as we have made pudding and I'd like to be able to justify eating a small portion of it.

Russianred · 17/01/2012 19:14

I'm a little bit in love with this top. Very good colours for me, I think.

Russianred · 17/01/2012 19:15

Annoying Whistles website - Garden Print Top on New In.

blue2711 · 17/01/2012 19:23

Having bought 'substitute' boots many times in the past hopefully and never really loved or worn them, I say go for those that make your heart quicken, even if that does mean the v pricey Marants.

Thanks mrscb. Have often wondered about an equipment blouse but, as I've said before, I'm not v good at blouses so worry that it would languish sadly in the wardrobe.

Does anyone wear Bloch flats? I know I said I'd sworn off the sales now but I'm tempted by these patent flats Are they comfy and true to size?

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2012 19:25

notyummy I love that dress! However, I imagine it would look rubbish on me as all sleeveless, high necked items do on account of my ample bosom. I can see it looking hot on you though!

Tried on some fab coated skinnies today in Zara. The were gold [magpie], but sadly the 12 was too big and they had no 10s left. No longer on website either. I also tried on the much lauded gold leather skirt from the summer, but the colour was too yellow for me. Shame.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/01/2012 19:35

Oh also meant to say re. the marant boots - I wouldn't personally pay that much for camel coloured suede - they will not wear well and for that price you need to think you'll get a lot of wear for a couple of years really.

But I'm not a massive shoe spender really - handbags are a different matter.

Am also liking this very much - it went out of stock for a while but has come back more sensibly priced.

The Blochs are lovely Blue - did you not recently mention wanting more pink in your life? I'm trying to get my hands on the Fuchsia Reiss top you bought, but can't find it anywhere in a S.

Gold skinnies Amber. Wild times.

My Virgin Ash high tops have given up the ghost and am tempted to buy the same pair back again - how can I live without them?!

Am finding the added element of Hopefully and NYE knowing each other in RL fascinating..!

FritziGreenEyes · 17/01/2012 20:09

ollie Ouch, but agree that there is no better way to instant weight loss than having your wisdom teeth taken out Wink. Hope your HL dress arrives soon and will be "the one" Smile.

red Would love to watch Coppers. Must be great to see your name on TV! The print of the Whistles blouse is a bit too busy for me but I'm not very good with patterns so cannot advise really. Stripey dress for your Oma's birthday is fab. Having her whole family there for her 90th will be her best present!

notyummy What a fantastic bargainous dress! Would look great with M&S patent heels.

blue I have those Blochs sitting in my basket too. But have too many ballet flats already. I find them very comfy and true to size.

hopefully Get the Marants and do nye's cash or item test + "the Roxy test". If you love them, keep them. Smile

amber What are you baking?

roary Hope you can find a way to move into your new house soon!

icey Sending sleep-well-vibes to your DD.

blue Keep on swivelling. Not long now Smile.

looby IIRC Uniqlo do some heattech stuff that is supposed to be good.

bloss Shame about the dress. Are you going to order the Acne now?

mrscb Have you ordered any Balmain bargains from the Outnet? Saw some items which had been reduced from 14,679 to 4,786 Shock.

Bought two new bras yesterday in the Princesse TamTam sale. Going to have my eyebrows threaded and hair done tomorrow.

pickledsiblings · 17/01/2012 20:17

Hello Lovelies

I am writing to the sound of my lovely DD singing in Italian/playing Joni Mitchell on the piano/violining, can you tell she has a music scholarship coming up?

Roary, so lovely to hear from you. I know what you mean about accruing all that interest. Does the house pass the Roxy test??

MiM, I am delighted that your friend can help you out and that you can get to your class.

Ollie, had an overwhelming urge to give you a hug tonight, don't ask me why Grin, so looking forward to the meetup - happy to go with the minimum spend thing.

Marsha, well done on sorting us out. Glad the work is going well, can't wait to find out the subject matter at the MU, loved the last one and your dedication to it, wondering what you are 'analysing' this time Smile.

Annie, I agree that you are something of a Superwoman - such a fabulous role model for your girls Smile.

Like Looby, I hope all the ladies with the babies on board are comfortable - Looby, your 3 must be sooo excited.

Pity about the dress Bloss, could really see you in it.

Gotta go, lesson planning and all that - phew!

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2012 20:28

I too am feeling rather fond of everyone, and it's not just the little glass of wine in which I am partaking Wink. Can't wait to give do the squee when we meet.

Pickled thanks except I realised I haven't quite sorted us out. Will send a pm to get numbers for yay on the deposit. yes work is good in the end! I really have to ratched my brain around to get in gear. But then it's good.

Red exciting about your show, I haven't seen it, we seem to be avoiding tv atm. But I have seen a thread on it, that counts right? Grin

NYE yes ds2 answers the phone normally you see, so I had to bolt and jump in front which meant tears. I need something fast!

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2012 20:29

needed...

carciofi · 17/01/2012 20:43

Hi all.
Hopefully, the Marant boots are lovely but I think they would get wrecked. I have the Jalouse too and they are a bit loose but still comfortable.

Amber, your mother sounds like my kind of lady.

Rufus and I pretended we knew each other from university rather than admit to our RL friends that we knew each other from the thread! We got away with it as we know several people in common anyway.

I am very happy as DH told me that he is sending me home for a weekend ON MY OWN to my beloved Dublin so I'm planning a night out in town, Verity and Rufus, if you are around? 11th Feb, early bird in One Pico and then the Shelbourne. Or any recommendations? DH has never been on his own with the girls for more than 3 hours but I'm sure he'll manage.

Pity about the dress, Bloss. I was thinking of ordering it but now I don't need to so thank you! I am wearing my ancient Paige skinnies today, they are a bit wrecked but I'm not ready to say goodbye. :) I bought the navy sandals.

Roary, I'd move in early and get settled in the new house.

A mum said to me this morning that I always looked great on the school run, it was nice of her but made me laugh as it is such a mumsnet thing to say!

I like the trench, Issima.

Blue, I had Blochs and found them really uncomfortable. I dropped them off to the charity shop at the weekend, I offered them here first but there were no takers!

I went shopping today but only bought M&S thermals (boring but necessary) and a few irresistibly cute dresses for the DDs from Baby Gap.

I couldn't buy much last year for summer as I was pregnant so this year I have a few things I want already, these white skinny jeans, this shirt, a couple of sundresses, and more bags! And lots more, no doubt.

carciofi · 17/01/2012 21:15

Glad your friend can babysit, Mim.

The White Co top is really boring and shapeless, I returned it. The Vince cardigan is perfect though.
