Best I could come up with......

My top tip is a bag of peas wrapped in a tea towel Ollie Wink. They are flexible and will mould to your jaw. And don't plan anything where you have to be seen by people for a few days. Just in case. I won't go into details, but suffice to say that after one wisdom tooth op I looked relatively ok....and after the other I looked utterly ridiculous and had to go to a work social function that I really couldn't get out of. Not good.

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2012 10:27

ollie I had mine (all 4) out when I was pg with DS. I didn't have any swelling, and it was actually a lot less awful than I expected. I won't lie, the first day is grim (as you can rinse your mouth out) but after than things improve greatly. I think I was back to normal eating by day 3.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/01/2012 10:42

Ollie - I had all mine out under GA as they hadn't come through yet. I was very very swollen for a week but actually no real pain - paracetamol was more than enough. I was told the most important thing was to keep the mouth clean so salt mouthwashes etc - but this was when I was at university so ahem a couple of years ago now Wink

Nice stuff on outnet today.

And Bloss - I sooo agree re. buying SS stuff too early - I made that mistake last year and am not doing so again. Plus I want to be considerably thinner by then and lets face it - it never seems to get terribly hot anyway.

Freezing here today - am in leigh jeans, belstaff ankle boots and dusky pink silk shirt with thermals underneath.

Am also dieting which is just soooo dull.

notyummy · 17/01/2012 10:49

Sorry about the diet MrsRCB. It is dull, isn't it? I am on a 'porridge only' breakfast regime which is working nicely in that I worked out how many calories were in the vast bowl of cereal I used to eat, and having a bowl of porridge instead is saving me 300 calories. Just like that! And keeps me full for ages. A winner all round. That is about it on the diet front at the moment, so I am not sure if it is actually going to make much impact on the rogue 2 lbs that have snuck up on me....we will see.

Also freezing here today. I am in dullsville black trouser suit, cobalt blue silk Jigsaw top (knot twist front) and heeled black brogues. Big meeting so must look the part....

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 11:11

NY I so wish I had only 2lbs to sort out. I am s-l-o-w-l-y shedding my excess weight (another lb this week, thank goodness), but am a good 8lb away from my ideal, and really 12lb away from where I know my clothes look best.

I am still in possession of all my wisdom teeth, but I'll probably have to have one out at some point, as it isn't breaking through properly (broke my jaw when I was younger, which has made its path somewhat wonky) and I get intermittent infections under the gum there.

Jalouse boots are due to arrive this afternoon, I really hope they fit!

I know, I can't help it NYE Grin. It's like a reflex.

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 11:30

Speaking of IO, their new season stuff looks quite nice. Lots of bretons in colours that would look awful on me Angry, but quite like this cardigan. Wish the zip breton came in an olive or orange stripe.

OllieinOrange · 17/01/2012 11:43

Oh Hopefully think Bloss will like all the zips on the new IO range! The Breton dress with the cowl neck looks nice too.

Thanks for the encouraging wisdom teeth words. I know its a matter of luck how much discomfort occurs afterwards - for everr horror story you hear a good one too. I will just have to be very assertive about the pain relief - for fillings I have to ask for an injection, they just assume I dont need or want one Shock

Well I am home for lunch (tuna, mixed bean salad in a wholegrain pitta). My abs kill - yeah! Did L1 6w6p last night and had forgotten how much I love it.
My mum came to meet me with the NaP box. It's not a keeper. Looks like a fat persons dress. All billowy. A bit katfan-y. Def not a dramatic classic dress!
Phew, that's good money saved forblackcherryjeans.
Same thing for the breton on IO I think. Where's the drama? See how wise I'm being?
mrscb, I have tended to buy things now for summer, as soon as the catalogues start coming through. It is still closer to my last summer holiday than it is to my next one!!
Do we need a decision on MU?

loobylu3 · 17/01/2012 13:38

Good news re your friend stepping in at the last minute MIM

Icey- v exciting re your new kitchen. Is it likely to be finished before the baby arrives?

ollie- wisdom teeth removal sounds sore but will hopefully be short lived soreness!

apuski- thank you for the offer of the Davina DVD. Would be great if you can find it but no worries if not!

amber- you always sound so glam and NY so smart. I am wearing my HM maternity denim mini skirt with opaques and leggings underneath for extra warmth, navy and white breton with a magenta colour cardigan (several years old from oasis). Was wearing scarf and this jacket plus Clarks desert boots earlier. v cold out today!

MrsCB- I love the sound of your silk shirts and own one or two myself (casual ones, not work ones) which I haven't really worn because
a) I need to wear them tucked out (obviously) and don't have skinny mat jeans yet.
b) feel a bit self conscious on the school run when everyone else is in jeans/ jumpers.
Also, can you or anyone else recommend really effective thermal vests which are slim fitting but warm?

Hope all the nearly term pregnant ladies are feeling okay!

NYE no worries, that cardigan is not on the melt-the-debit-card list unlike about a million other things

Looby silk thermals are usually thin. Like these, or merino thermals are just wonderful in all ways - I have Scandinavian ones for the kids, and really want some of my own! Icebreaker has a good rep.

Bloss boo about the dress, but well done on the wisdom Smile. And well done on the 6w6p-ing. I am contemplating a second Jillian DVD in my life for post-Shred (thinking I might alternate with some yoga or something), as I'm not going to have shed all my excess weight in the next week or two, and I'm rather bored of Shredding. Any recommendations?

blue2711 · 17/01/2012 13:59

Just had nice catch up read over lunch. I can sense the MU anticipation building already, am sure it'll be brilliant, cave or no cave!

Just off to 38week midwife appt. Am seriously in nesting mood now, sorting out cupboards and all sorts!

Donna Ida Rivera blue 811s arrived and are v disappointing. More of a teal/very dark turquoise, when I was picturing something close to navy. So back they go too. I really haven't had much luck in the sales at all and am going to stop now and start again on SS in a month or so or whenever I emerge from the newborn blur. At least I'm pleased with my reiss silk tshirt and Zara snakeskin tote - and have a nice budget left over!

Sorry no time to respond to anyone but hello to all, back later.

ReineDeSaba · 17/01/2012 14:00

mim glad things have been worked out for tomorrow.

love the sound of your outfit today mrscb

ollie definitely be prepared for some swelling post op and follow your dentists instructions..hot,salty mouthwashes etc to avoid infection in the sockets afterwards but normal pain relief should suffice.

nye that is a good piece of shopping advice.

blue thanks for the leigh suggestion, have bought some burgundy ones to style a la Wendy, fab!

your lunches souding very delicious

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 14:06

Ooh, and in the interests of doing justice to my new clothes, I have booked a hair cut tomorrow! First one for 16 months. I m definitely going quite a lot shorter, but not sure quite how much. I used to have a really sharp asymmetric bob (it was sort of similar to Mrs Beckham's), which I loved, but I'm not sure I can cope with having 12 inches of hair off in one go! Current hair is more like [http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=asymmetric+bob&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbnid=gWKX7ZHKh7YB8M:&imgrefurl=honey.hubpages.com/hub/Inverted-Bob-Haircuts-With-Bangs-for-Women&docid=AoCPqmBr-KoU6M&imgurl=s2.hubimg.com/u/2827353_f260.jpg&w=260&h=346&ei=238VT4KnEYWt8QOkrLnJAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=174&vpy=483&dur=895&hovh=259&hovw=195&tx=104&ty=122&sig=115437588016396073774&page=1&tbnh=147&tbnw=103&start=0&ndsp=40&ved=1t:429,r:20,s:0&biw=1475&bih=866 this]].

Am also thinking of having colour put through, once I have recovered from the trauma of new hair. I used to have colour like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=asymmetric+bob&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbnid=gWKX7ZHKh7YB8M:&imgrefurl=honey.hubpages.com/hub/Inverted-Bob-Haircuts-With-Bangs-for-Women&docid=AoCPqmBr-KoU6M&imgurl=s2.hubimg.com/u/2827353_f260.jpg&w=260&h=346&ei=238VT4KnEYWt8QOkrLnJAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=174&vpy=483&dur=895&hovh=259&hovw=195&tx=104&ty=122&sig=115437588016396073774&page=1&tbnh=147&tbnw=103&start=0&ndsp=40&ved=1t:429,r:20,s:0&biw=1475&bih=866" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this in my bob. Is it too ridiculous to do that again? Was thinking maybe a really bright bronze/chestnut rather than scarlet, but not sure.

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 14:10

Blue the riviera blue 811s sound exactly the blue I want! I contemplated ordering them, but figured they weren't exactly a SS colour, and I already have two pairs of very wintery trousers. Sorry you're disappointed with them though.

blue2711 · 17/01/2012 15:09

Funnily enough, I thought of you hopefully when I opened the package! It is a nice colour, just not me at all. Well at least as far as I know. I would be devastated if I had my colours done and was told I've been wrong all these years... Go for it with the hair but perhaps one at a time. I did much shorter and blonde to brown once and couldn't cope at all, whereas either individually has been great.

Think I might get burgundy Leighs too reine. And grey. Seeing as I've saved so much on all my returns!

mrsrcb love the sound of your outfit again. Where do you get your silk blouses from? And do you tuck them in? And with what belts? Can you tell that I want to copy you?!

Sympathy re the teeth ollie and re the dress bloss.

Have just received orders to spend lots of time sitting on my gym ball and swivelling; baby's in the wrong position...

MidnightinMoscow · 17/01/2012 15:31

Blue I suspect that you would like the 811's in sapphire blue, although they are not in the sale I'm afraid. Hopefully are these any good for you?

Ollie start taking some arnica a week before the operation. Had mine done under a GA too when I was doing my training, and it was not too bad. Like your silver lining thinking with the weight loss. Smile

Shame about the dress Bloss, but yes you are being very wise. I agree with both yourself and MrsCB that buying summer clothes now can end in mistakes. I have too much summer stuff that ends up requiring a cardigan or something else with it as its never that warm here. I often end up wearing the same things over again as I feel that I never have 'complete' summer outfits.

I had a very healthy lunch too, red pepper and lentil soup and wholemeal pitta. Then fell straight asleep again. I suspect I am still anaemic as I can't keep my eyes open half the time!

Hopefully · 17/01/2012 15:39

Dilemma.

The Ash Jalouse boots are here. They are lovely (despite my mother's opinions to the contrary Wink). But they are a tiny bit too wide at the back end of the shoe (I have literally never had this before, weird). I have hunted and hunted for similar boots, but the only ones I can find that are low enough are the slightly more expensive Dickers and these Office ones.

So, do I buy some insoles or something to try to make the Ash boots fit (I hate doing that, as I sort of think new shoes should fit, and I'm not sure how to actually make them narrower, rather than just lift my feet up in them), spend a small fortune on the Dickers (which are by far my favourite as they don't have the damn distressing all over them) or compromise on the Office ones, which have distressing but are half the price of the Jalouse?

I can't quite decide whether these are boots that I will wear for the spring and then forget about (in which case the Office ones are definitely the ones to go for), or come back to next winter and spring, in which case I'm not averse to splashing out on the Dickers (assuming that I don't fall deeply in love with the handful of NAP items I have arriving tomorrow).
