Best I could come up with......

I have a bayswater too and only ever use it for work; I like it but it feels rather too safe and classic atm. Think tan/oak Alexa the same colour? Go for it!

Really like the first dvf dress and its price. Have absolutely no need for it though; my wardrobe is stuffed full of dresses I love but rarely have chance to wear right now.

Hello All

Lovely dress links and Annie your outfit for Friday night sounded fab - great coat.

Ollie, you and your DH are just love's young dream, riding your bikes on an evening out. That HL number will not work on a bike, you do know that, don't you Smile.

NY, you are so a woman on a mission with the coated skinnies, looking forward to the lowdown.

Bloss, I spent the w/e reading about behaviour management Hmm. Had a great lesson today with my accelerated Y9s and I'm now home sorting out the leaking boiler before I have to turn into extra-curric mum - fencing and guitar this evening.

See you all later, lovely photo Amber Smile.

OllieinOrange · 16/01/2012 15:00

Red I love the look of the Reiss dress - would be great for the sun and fits your brief well imo. Good price for Reiss too. Worth a try on I say.
Amber gorgeous picture! If anyone will be looking haggard at the MU, it will be me. I have to get up at 5.30am for my flight. May have to have a power nap in the corner!
Hopefully Agree with the others about the VWA dress, lovely colours.

Everything Im really pleased with how well my Kew skinnies are wearing and how they fit. Dont think they have discounts v often esp for jeans - sorry.

Speaking of MU, has anyone given any thought about timings and what time we should meet for dinner? Would like to book a sesion at Laura Mercier and get it later in the day but leave enough time to avoid rushing back to hotel to get changed etc so need to work backwards time wise.

Found out that an local expat organisation is having an information morning for potential volunteers on Wednesday. Have to go along with my CV for a possible interview afterwards. They take ages to write from scratch don't they especially when I have 6 years worth of SAHM stuff to include? Outfit wise - I need something smart but low key. Thinking of my indigo blue woollen dress from last year and knee high boots.

I had a really strange dream last night when Samantha Cameron joined the thread and it all got a bit political and I came on and wrote "its about the dresses people" Smile

NYE I have been v impressed with the quality of my Kew skinnies, they really have worn and washed well.

Red that Reiss dress is really nice. Quite casual, but if it's the right look then i'd say go for it.

I am not so much invigorated as manic! Have ordered Anglomania dress, and also taken a punt and ordered another one, as if it's nice it could be perfect for a wedding in the spring. Might be a weeny bit on the frumpy side for me though (as it won't be very short, and has high neck, despite gorgeous drapery), will have to see. Have also ordered blood orange j brands, but am not sure if I'm brave enough! Might be sensible and just replace my crappy quality teal skinnies with these ones. Or, you know, I might do both Wink. (picture me looking actually like this today: Grin)

I am now on the look out for (a) a nice slouchy jumper, but not too slouchy. Would prefer choc brown or off-white, but open to suggestions and (b) a coat. I'm thinking maybe a trench type thing, but it has to be fitted, not pillow-tied-in-the-middle look. I love this one, but even having not bought a new non-maternity coat for nine years, I cannot justify £900 on a coat Smile. Can anyone think of a sub-£200 version? I like Hobbs one, but need a sharper collar - I prefer ones that are intended to be worn open with proper lapels.

Right, I am off to run around in circles with the DCs to burn off some of my shopping energy before my debit card melts! Also if I run round enough then Anglomania dress will look even nicer.

Pickled Loves young dream Smile ? I like!

OllieinOrange · 16/01/2012 15:08

I guess time for dinner depends on the bar afterwards? Can we we find out if we can reserve a table upstairs and then one downstairs - or just one downstairs if we have a 7pm dinner? It was already quite busy when we got there last time at around 6/7pm I think? The 'regulars' would know more tho? Wink

Ha, I have just had a call from my bank's fraud department Blush I don't think they could actually believe it when I promised that yup, all that money was spent on purpose. Clearly I never spend more than about £4.50 on my card.

blossoming · 16/01/2012 15:47

Brilliant hopefully! My trench is Banana Republic.

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2012 16:11

Ok just rang the MU bar.

The minimum spend of £250 per table for up to 15 names. What do people think?

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2012 16:12

Great stuff Hopefully!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/01/2012 16:32

Lovely to see that the thread is so busy but too many posts to catch up properly Smile.

emo Belated happy birthday to your DD1! Love your new hairstyle. You look fantastic! And amber you look so young and radiant, very pretty!

ollie Hope you find a way to have a peaceful bedtime with DS1 tonight. Like annie I am guilty of spoiling DD when it comes to sleeping and she crawls into our bed in the early morning of most days.

hopefully I so want to do a style day. I have a very strong feeling what I like and what absolutely doesn't work on me but would be great to have it "confirmed" and get some more tips. Was talking to DH about the colour/style thing and he sort of agreed that it would make sense for him to have his colours done too as he spends so much money on suits/ties/shirts. Think he is either a summer or winter. But then he said the whole colour thing mustn't take longer than 90 minutes, typical! Grin

Spend a few hours in town today and discovered that we now have a Farrow and Ball , a threading and waxing place and Muji is going to open soon too.

AmberNectarine · 16/01/2012 16:38

How long does the colour consultation take, experts?

marsha, having not been there before, what do you all think? Can you describe it? What is the relevance of the tables? What is the 'cave' bit? I am very excited, but very confused. And this spend is just drinks, right? We're having dinner somewhere else? notyummy are you booking the dinner restaurant?
Questions questions. Can't wait to see you all again though, without doing an early run for the train!

carciofi, the dress hasn't arrived yet, although despatched. Hopefully my parents will look out for it tomorrow. DH has been home mostly since December marking scripts, but is away tomorrow. Typical. Or maybe for the best! I'm hoping it will go with the shoeboots. I just spent loads at sweaty betty too, as I'm tired of getting cold when on the bike. Have been wearing leggings, but seriously, might aswell just wear opaque tights, how worn and thin they are by now! Throw me off the thread.

Have decided that my body is holding on to fat for dear life. I have been no sugaring, low bread-ing, excercising like mad, and no change. DS joined me for an early shred last night. Really nice.

How lovely you look amber. So nice to put faces to names.

MarshaBrady · 16/01/2012 16:47

Bloss. The spend is just for drinks. Given the price of them it wouldn't be difficult to reach £25 per person. But I always feel that it should be an unstressful thing, and if the thought of minimum spend is a bit stressy we should try and wing it and get a table.

There are quite a few of us this time, so the table we had at our little mini mu won't do.

The cave bit is a larger table in an alcove that will fit all of us. A bit like the first moamus (where was it? Pearl) but there is only one of them, and you look out at the dance floor and bar which is handy.

It was pure luck we got it last time, but it helped that we turned up early.....

So hopefully champagne hasn't fuzzed my memory on these facts Wink.

Our options are, book the table min spend or turn up earlyish and hope to get it.
Plus need to check date is free!

IceCreamCastles · 16/01/2012 16:48

Good work hopefully Grin

I can't keep up either!

Lovely photo amber- you look so young! Emo- I couldn't see yours either but agree you look great in Facebook one- love your hair like that.

Nights have gone to pot here too. Dd is in a double bed now so it's far too easy to just get in with her if she wakes up. She won't settle for dh at the moment either- very much a mummy's girl. Need to sort things out a bit before baby comes.

Envy that you have your hush order already amber. I'm waiting for mine to arrive before I pack hospital bag!

Our kitchen is half in now- v excited! We've also caved and bought a tumble drier after managing without one for 2 years. Was getting fed of house looking like a laundry with washing hanging up everywhere.

Russianred · 16/01/2012 16:50

Wow Hopefully - what an amazing little collection you're beginning. But, you must send back your My-W J Brands and get them from Shopbop here for 1/4 of the price so that you can get the indigo ones too!

Marsha there should be at least 10 of us and judging from previous expenditure that seems reasonable, I guess. Bloss it has a nice vibe, good service and is a nice central location without being a tourist trap. I did like the look of the restaurant too NY, but like NYE's early bird suggestion too.

Am just waiting to see what Wednesday brings Grin and will then be ordering the Reiss dress, a couple of tops and the navy skinnies. Was toying with Houlis, but then remembered the trauma of the calves in the JL changing room last week and decided not to inflict it on myself.

blossoming · 16/01/2012 17:11

fritzi, that is a great idea. I've been trying to get dh to do his colours too. It does take a while though doesn't it? My dh loves rules though, he would really benefit. Or I would benefit, as I buy his clothes! Are you coming to MU?
amber, they take all day. If you go on your own, or with a group. Mine began at 9.30 and ended 3.30 both times.
Oh, I didn't go to the Midlands, I went to Wrexham. She is really good.

blossoming · 16/01/2012 17:13

x post there. I'm happy to go with the majority vote!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/01/2012 17:16

apuski Hope you'll find somewhere great to go on holiday.

mim I'm Angry with your Mum. Fingers crossed for a babysitter.

ants How are you today? Hope the doctor has been able to find you something that works. Had terrible bouts of cystitis before I had DD but never longer than one or two days.

notyummy Has your DH recovered from the food poisoning? Are your Zara tops any good? H&M skinnies look good in the pictures. DD was a very chubby baby too and slept most nights from very early on. Never more than 20 minute naps and constant feeding during the day though...

red That's great news about your SA trip. Would it make sense to wait a bit longer before getting a new dress as more SS stuff is going to come into the shops during the next few weeks? I haven't shredded for ages but IIRC Jillian advises to have a light snack about 45 to 60 minutes before exercising.

nye The DVF Leron would look fab on you!

ollie Very exciting about your volunteering opportunity. Grin about SC joining the thread. Like pickled I love the image of you and DH riding your bikes to the restaurant. So quintessentially Dutch! Smile

Welcome issima! I have almost only non-patterned things in my wardrobe now too. With the exception of some scarves and Breton tops. Had a look at our holiday photos and was really pleased with my outfits

bloss Fingers crossed the dress will arrive tomorrow and look fanastic!
