Best I could come up with......

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2012 13:02

Yes that is very useful! Thanks!

Think it might be better than at Christmas.

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 13:22

Have 'accidentally ordered' the 811s in sapphire blue in the Donna Ida sale, thanks to the person who suggested them. Am hoping that they're nice and dark in RL but couldn't resist them (and the actual navy 811s are nearly £100 more!)

Have also finally ordered this reiss blouse after wondering about it for weeks. With free delivery and returns I just have to try it. Am picturing it a la Wendy with sleeves rolled up and either loose over long nude or white vest and leggings or tucked into my 811s. But it may well look ridiculous and too 'pretty', we'll see.

Must go and Hoover in readiness for people coming over - I really wouldn't bother otherwise!

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 13:24

I meant Rivera blue...

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 13:25

Or even riviera. Oh dear, going now.

loobylu3 · 15/01/2012 13:46

Hope everyone is having happy weekends.
I have a 'forever coat'. I was from Hobbs about 7/8 years ago and is one of those items that I wear every single year and seem to get complimented on by someone every time I wear it! It is a light weight, formal coat, linen mix, I think. The colour is a pale stone/ linen colour with creamy white polka dots and a peter pan type collar.

Sympathies to all those with sleepless babies. Hope the baby is better soon, amber
Interesting re sharing out childcare/ domestic duties. My DH isn't too bothered by mess either , MIM. He thinks I should just leave it and chill! He even v kindly bought me a coaster which says 'A clean house is a sign of a wasted life'. He does a bit of stacking/ unstacking the dishwasher/ wiping down surfaces if he is around at the weekend but that is about it. He most certainly does not think that lie- ins are a waste of time :)
Having said that, he did cook yesterday but that normally only happens every 2 months or so!
He has a lovely relationship with the DC though and is so patient and entertaining (despite working 60-110 hours a week).

fleecy- thank you again for the clothes. Bright pink sounds great. I love bright coloured jeans but not sure they would like me. I always feel a bit self conscious about my bum as it is the biggest part of me (well, thighs too). I actually don't mind my bum but not sure that drawing direct attention to it bright pink/ red/ blue is a great idea!

ollie how about a fruit crumble with perhaps pre cut/ pre stewed fruit?

NY- I giggled at your DD's love note- so sweet.
My DS (6, yr 2) tends to ignore all of the girl in his class. If I ask if 'X' is nice, he usually response that they are 'horrible' or 'his foe'.
The other day, I asked him why he was ignoring 'Y' and he said that he didn't want to speak to the girls as it 'might attract them'. It turned out that he and a couple of friends were being chased but several of the girls who wanted to kiss them!
I have told him that he will start to like girls in a few years :)

Love that idea annie. And Eton mess!

Russianred · 15/01/2012 16:08

Afternoon all! Glad to hear everyone's having lovely weekends and that Annie, Blue, Bloss and Ollie enjoyed their evenings out. We were with our friends yesterday afternoon for a big walk and then back to theirs for dinner whilst all the kids slept - was lovely.

Fab idea on the clothes swap front Annie, would take a lot organisational know-how thought. Will have a think on it.

Wearing Roxy, red 811s, chunky Whistles striped jumper and Warehouse grey leopard scarf today. Had a very close call with a tub of yellow paint in B&Q earlier on - DH was so concerned at my face of devastation when a spot landed on Roxy that he licked it off there and then. Must be love.

Back later, am going to attempt a roast With a convection microwave and a one ring camping stove...

AmberNectarine · 15/01/2012 16:45

Just arrived back from the park and having to endure DS rolling around on the floor throwing a tantrum because we only stayed there in the freezing cold for 2 hours Hmm

DH also in bad books for shouting at me for NO REASON. He has been very apologetic and I know he's tired but I'm still fuming - he's not a toddler.

Still on bright side I haven't killed anyone yet.

red outfit fab, as usual. Am wearing slouchy grey jumper, indigo C/E skinnies, Acne pistols and black/blue McQueen scarf. Think outfit reflects mood!

annie great idea, who is good at organising?

fleecy I tried on those C/E skinnies, gorgeous colour, prefer it to the J Brands in fact, but too low rise for me so got the 811s instead.

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2012 16:48

We just went to the park too and had to go to another one as couldn't get a parking space, too full.

Annie not sure yet. If we go in our summer holidays then there's not much point in going really south as it's the winter. If at Christmas then could do. Not looking forward to the jetlag but will be worth it!

What and when is your Indian wedding?

MidnightinMoscow · 15/01/2012 18:13

Quickly posting with a question.

Does anyone know what is the best way to find a reputable baby sitter at short notice?

DM has pulled out of looking after DS for me next week for my VBAC class. No friends able to help, and its the one morning that DH cannot get out of a meeting in Birmingham. Nightmare situation!

Have done some goggling, but wondered if anyone knew of some good websites?

OllieinOrange · 15/01/2012 18:17

MrsCB recommended an agency not so long along - can't remember what it was called tho, sorry MiM. Will google and get back to you!

OP posts:
OllieinOrange · 15/01/2012 18:18

Was it sitters.co.uk?

OllieinOrange · 15/01/2012 18:20

Oh and Hmm at your Mum. Not helpful but thought you would appreciate some empathy!

Hi everyone. So tired! But the dcs are in bed, so hoping for some peace and quiet!
All the best with the roast red. Brave woman.
How awful that someone should wear a sweatshirt out to dinner ollie. Is Holland quite casual then? It was a bit boring style wise where we went too, and we were also the youngest by about 25 years. Funny this morning, dd running madly round the house with my chanel bag that I hadn't put away, and trying to get her feet into my shoe boots. (Just realised they are stuart weitzman, so I can link!)
Hope you're feeling better now ants. If not I hope the doctor can help you out. Really crap when things linger like that.
Have loved reading about your Sundays. Off to do some marking. Not my favourite part of teaching!

Hopefully · 15/01/2012 19:56

Evening everyone! Haven't caught up properly but though I'd bash out a quick me-me-me post before I read back.

Am absolutely knackered from style day. It was brilliant, a really great experience. I came out as Natural with Dramatic, which is exactly what NYE an I were thinking, but it was great to have it properly confirmed. So much information to absorb, my head is whirling.

I took lots of pictures with of clothes I like, as recommended by Bloss and was basically on track with most of them, which was a nice confidence boost. Off to plan what to buy now!

Russianred · 15/01/2012 20:22

Glad it went well Hopefully - look forward to seeing all of your links. No idea what I'd be in the whole scheme of things and shall not even hazard a guess!

Dinner was baaaad Bloss, cannot wait for the end of the week after next when the kitchen should all be finished.

MiM I'm sorry you've been let down like that. It may be worth checking if they offer a crèche while the course is running - we were offered one with DS but he slept through the whole thing so didn't use it.

Ants you must be in absolute agony, hope you're offered heavy, heavy drugs tomorrow.

Indian wedding sounds exciting Annie, tell us mor. Will you be there for the celebrations leading up to?

Lovely outfit Amber I really must get my hands on a McQ scarf somehow.

Have just booked our SA trip, am very excited! DH is coming which has meant sacrificing a direct flight in order for us all to go. At least he'll be with me in Dubai at 4.30am..! So, if anyone spots an amazing summery dress (would like something pretty, perhaps with broderie/embroidery that I could wear again throughout the summer, so not too formal) for my Oma's 90th, send the link my way.

Having ongoing house-related issues with DH, who I'm trying my hardest to convince that the IKEA Malm (whilst highly practical and well-priced) is not the only option for bedroom furniture.

And also, what is the sizing on Houlihans like (2 years too late, I know)? Would one size up or down?

AntPants1 · 15/01/2012 20:25

MIM so sorry your DM has let you down. Can second sitters. Have used them.

AmberNectarine · 15/01/2012 20:32

Oh god, red we are Malm city here, bought when we first moved in together, must update when we move! My houlis are a little roomy, but I'm not entirely convinced I got the right size... Maybe MiM or fritzi can help!

Baby asleep for now, not religious but praying for a better night tonight!

Hopefully so glad it went well, I emailed HOC consultant today re. Colours so perhaps the first step on the ladder! Looking forward to hearing of your purchases!

AmberNectarine · 15/01/2012 20:34

Oh yes, meant to say, my friend regularly uses sitters and raves about them MiM. I would be happy to look after your DS for you but might be a bit far for you.

Russianred · 15/01/2012 20:39

Too frou-frou?

Meant to say Blue we've done exactly the same thing with Bleak House after watching GE. Enjoying it very much.

Portia4 · 15/01/2012 20:40

Evening, 'hope that everyone had nice weekends . We went to a surprise 50th for one of my DBs last night, it really was a lovely party, we stayed with my Dsis and had a delicious brunch and then headed for home. I returned my Massimo Dutti boots to see if they could repair them as the platform had cracked, it turns out that the design is faulty and even though I had no receipt they gave me my money back. Of course now I have no tan coloured ankle boots, it's a shame because I really liked them, I am now perusing the Internet for a replacement.
I bought a burgundy coloured cashmere v neck in the sales, my first puchase for ages and some clothes for DD1.
Off to get ready for next week.

MidnightinMoscow · 15/01/2012 20:41

Thanks for the recommendations. Sitters seems to be evenings only though, although have heard good things.

I have emailed the MW to see if there is a creche or even another date. Fingers crossed.

As for DM....well it was to be expected. Grin

Red I have a 29 in my houlihans, so true to size as it were. However, they do give a little once you've had them on for a while. Also some colours come in different fabrics which would effect the stretchiness. Olympia, (dark blue) comes in a thinner, more giving fabric than say shark skin or vintage black.

Glad to hear the style day went well Hopefully, looking forward to hearing about your new wardrobe now.

Love the idea of shoe boots and Chanel on DD Bloss. Smile
