Best I could come up with......

Yes, we are a needy cause Amber - I agree. More annoying is that on my 'turn' yesterday, I was up at 06.30 as DS was being really noisy and also DH cannot fathom the concept of looking after DS, putting some washing on, etc.

Exciting Hopefully. Let us know how you get on.

OllieinOrange · 15/01/2012 08:26

Ants poor you, know how rough a prolonged attack can feel. My friend takes a cranberry supplement which may be worth looking into once you have knocked this bout on the head. Hope you can stay home and rest today.
Hopefully looking forward to hearing all about your style day later. Enjoy.

Feel fine this morning tho I have to say DH isn't looking too hot! Meal was lovely. I know the Dutch don't really dress up but the man on the next table was wearing a sweatshirt with Reebox written accross it which just looked a bit out of place. I felt a bit of a blob in my dress - will up my shred intake this week!
Have a good Sunday everyone.

Maybe the HL will be your forever dress, ollie!

Unfortunately I sell everything expensive I buy as forever something to DH, so think the expression has lost some of its cachet in this house!

annie poor you, are you not exhausted? I have always done all the night-wakings, but we alternate getting up on the weekends. Anyway, he's taken the kids downstairs and told me to have some time to myself so he's out of trouble for now. That coat is gorgeous by the way, and what a lovely night out! You sound like you were very chic!

Anniemac I think there are no rules and as long as it feels fair to both then it's fine. Dh does his own ironing, but then I look after the garden. He's better at that and I'm better at the garden (although he likes to mow the grass).

Feeling much more positive about this work, once I get that spark of an idea I am fine. I should stop doing that dip when I receive work.

Your night out and outfit sounds really lovely btw. Maybe we should do a little London one (everyone welcome of course) at some point since you can't make the 17th.

Amber you sell stuff to your dh?

Ollie meal sounds lovely, shame you had to view a Reebok man.

Ants hope you are feeling better very soon.

Big wave to everyone.

marsha I meant selling the idea of something as in 'I'm going to squander £200 from the joint account on this furry gilet, but it's ok because it's a 'forever' gilet and I'll wear it every day and never ever buy another til next week'

annie wow, superwoman! I am so hammered by being woken every hour he idea of staying up til 2am to work is just horrifying! My DH is useless at domestic stuff but to be fair does work a minimum 60hr week so I pick all that up. Will have to change when I'm back at work! Get what you mean about time with DCs, reckon mine are bored witless of me now!

Ah Amber I see! I had visions of your dh doing a side line in styling or something Grin.

Anniemac great!

AmberNectarine · 15/01/2012 11:25

marsha lovely though he is, one thing my DH is not overburdened with is style, he's good at suits but it all falls apart of a weekend! And if he styled me the only accessory I'd need would be a red light! I suppose I should be flattered he wants to see such a lot of my less than perfect physique!

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2012 11:55

Grin Haha, I get that too.

Although mine has discovered online ordering for his own stuff. His budget isn't as mad as mine though.

Fleecy · 15/01/2012 11:59

Grin at red light amber

I do all the night wakings with DD2 here but DH sorts out the older two if they're ill. He is much more of a morning person than me as well so he never ever has a lie in (considers it a waste of time!) so occasionally I can have one but it's hard to at the moment as DD2 still feeding very frequently all day.

We are both rubbish at domestic stuff and therefore have a cleaner and someone to do the garden Grin

Glad you got the stuff looby and hope it's useful.

Oh ants it sounds like you're having a tough time. Hope the cystitis clears up very soon.

Envious of the nights out annie and ollie - can't wait until we can start enjoying regular evenings out again. What fun!

I looked into buying the MK watch from the US but it would still have cost the same all in so I have just bought it from John Lewis. I love it! I have also returned the Whistles skinnies as they were too short and have ordered bright pink C/E skinnies instead. They might be a bit too bright but we'll see - free delivery so thought I might as well. I know not everyone is a fine of the bright pink but I love it!

MidnightinMoscow · 15/01/2012 12:07

My frustration with DH is that he can do chores etc, but it requires a lot of direction and task orientation from me. He will happily walk past something on the stairs over and over again rather than pick it up and put it away.

Re work, I agree that when you working out of the home ++ hours, you do tend to want to spend every moment you can with DC's. Although the last few months at work had exhausted me so much that I was becoming disinterested in home life as well, not a good sign. I am certainly enjoying DS since I have been off. I think they key to striking a happy balance when being a WOHM is that you need to ultimately enjoy your job in order to help ease the guilt/pain etc of leaving the DC's behind. Actually that's men and women really, as on the whole DH loves his job!

Back to more pleasurable subjects, I am cooking Coq au Vin for lunch with Dauphinoise. Having this time at home has made me realise how much I have missed cooking, and I am finally getting the time to make meals that are safe for DS.

I have just sorted through my post maternity clothes from the loft. It is not the most inspiring collection. Grin However, I am hoping that having a limited and not very exciting wardrobe will give me the impetus to lose the weight.

OllieinOrange · 15/01/2012 12:13

Question from left field now.
The Dads from DS2s class have organised a special afternoon which includes taking the class to a cheese farm and going to a restaurant kitchen to prepare and cook a 3 course meal for the rest of the parents. DH offered to help and has been given the task of preparing the dessert. Its been suggested he makes bread and rice pudding but he is a bit worried about being responsible for 5 4/5year olds cutting bread with sharp knives and heating milk etc. Im trying to think of something else they could prepare which would be hands on but easy for DH to supervise. So far have come up with knickerbokerglories and not much else!

Any easy, child friendly pudding sugggestions?

Oh I'd go for something they need to assemble for ease. Such as Eton Mess, with ready made meringue or no bake cheesecakes using mascarpone and cream cheese. Then they can be free to 'decorate' as they wish!

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 12:20

Me too fleecy! Can't wait to wear my shocking pink j brands. You'll have to tell me what you wear yours with. Glad you got your gorgeous watch.

Poor you ants. Get well soon.

Also sympathy to the early risers and to those suffering from lack of sleep. I'm getting 8ish hrs every night and still feel tired! My DH is like yours fleecy, thinks lie-ins are pointless. So he does Saturday and Sunday mornings. Plus most of the cooking so I feel pretty lucky. He does do very little else though and has never got up once in the night so I think it's a pretty fair arrangement! Agree that every relationship has to negotiate a balance that hopefully works for everyone.

The nights out sound fun. Great outfit and new coat annie. (You do sound like a bit of a superwoman to me too!) We're hoping to fit in one more night out before baby for DH's birthday.

You've got me thinking about forever dresses, ollie. I have a black lace whistles one that is a contender but it's only done 3yrs service so far. I'm much better at forever bags and jewellery than clothes.

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. We've done breakfast at my lovely mum's and have a dear friend bringing his new girlfriend round for inspection later! So tired today though that already looking forward to getting on that sofa later with DH; having loved Great Expectations at Christmas we're now watching the BLeak House series (second time for me but love it.)

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 12:23

Hello issimma. Do stay. I'll check out the HoC at Leicester as I'm in Nottingham, thanks.

apuski I can highly recommend the west coast of Majorca. We always stay at a v stylish but also family friendly hotel in Port de Soller and it's just lovely.

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2012 12:54

MIM snap, doing coq au vin too.

Blue and Fleecy bright pink sounds so nice. I liked the way WIT wore hers with navy.

Speaking of holidays we are considering doing a big flight to Port Douglas which is in northern Australia. I think the weather is nice and dry, probably around 25 degrees which should be ok. (We went with ds1 ages ago but was later on in the year).

I don't suppose anyone has been in August? .

blue2711 · 15/01/2012 13:00

Port Douglas is lovely! Went years ago in June and I remember it being pretty hot... Sorry that's not very useful is it?

I love pink and navy too. Also planning on navy skinnies with various pale pink and hot pink tops this SS.
