Have just got in from taking the DDs ice skating at Trocadero. Fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower. Evening hampered only by the fur coated yummy mummies who insisted on sitting on the benches where you sit to change into your skates if you are skating - about six of them, which led to chaos in the marquee. I (accidentally) dropped a skate on the foot of one of them. She glared but still didn't move. One woman with small children said to one of them very pointedly "This is not your sitting room, Madame."

QueenLush · 18/12/2011 20:29

We still haven't got our tree. I rather rashly offered to take the DDs to Disneyland tomorrow...

motherinferior · 18/12/2011 20:34

Mr Inferior has asked the girls what is on their Christmas lists Xmas Grin

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 18/12/2011 20:45

Tomorrow I have to go and source presents for the well-off elderly relatives who have everything. I am lacking inspiration. Dh has done no shopping yet at all, so I have bought myself a sewing machine that he is now giving me. Xmas Grin

motherinferior · 18/12/2011 20:58

I am working tomorrow and Tuesday, as the gurls don't break up till then. Am knackered but do not have to do any tedious Christmas cooking, at least; DP will cook on Christmas day and then we have various visits to friends and rellies. I may have to make mango mousse for said Christmas dinnner (as we will get pudding the next day) but as this involves whipping cream and mixing in (tinned) mango puree, and accompanying it with Posh Bought Biscuits it is no real effort.

And in fact I might get the Inferiorettes to do it anyway Xmas Grin

motherinferior · 18/12/2011 21:05

QL: I'm going to make pate. I don't usually splash out on shallots for it: should I?

QueenLush · 18/12/2011 22:45

I'd not bother with shallots. Use a nice onion. What pate is it? (I have shallots rotting in my onion dish as I type - bought for pickling for Christmas and never got round to it.

CointreauVersial · 18/12/2011 23:14

You have an onion dish? I like shallots, but they are a bastard to peel, even if you do the old dip in boiling water trick.

The DDs have got school tomorrow, and I have to go to work, although I fear my brain has already switched off for Christmas. I have the joys of the office Secret Santa to look forward to, which can be a bit hit or miss, to say the least. In fact, I was in the pub on Thursday night giggling at some besuited gent walking out nonchalently after his office party with a large inflatable penis tucked under one arm.

DS and DH will be left at home tomorrow to do manly things (i.e. make a mess, watch rubbish stuff on TV).

bigTillyMincepie · 19/12/2011 09:57

CV, how can you be surprised that QueenLush has an onion dish? I am guessing that she also has an annual pass fro Disneyland?

Huffy like the way you have stuck to a name-theme!

School finished here for us all - we are at the out-laws, which has been surprisingly relaxing so far and DH and I are off shopping/lunching together today

CV, why didn't he just let the air out of it and stuff it in his pocket, one wonders?Xmas Smile

QueenLush · 19/12/2011 11:21

It's a dish to keep onions in, is all. Xmas Confused

And yes, I do have an annual pass to Disneyland Xmas Blush But we didn't go today as DD2 is exhausted. I am taking DD1 shopping later to look for her Christmas present, then we will come back, get tree and watch a cheesy Christmas fillum. I have also lost one of DD1's presents which I ordered from Amazon in the summer. But on the plus side, I have discovered some presents from last year which didn't get wrapped, so they can have them this year. Xmas Grin But where can that bloody dvd be?

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 19/12/2011 11:41

I keep my onions in a string bag. Is this a faux pas? Xmas Grin

So far today, ds and dd have not yet had an argument either with each other or me. I don't suppose the ceasefire will last much longer, but at least we've had a bit of calm this morning. We are going to bake cookies and paint glassware this pm. Assuming everyone can keep their tempers.

Am now going to put on my oilskins and take the dog out. Weather is not very festive, but a brisk slog up and down a hill will make me more able to be zen about baking and crafting with the warring factions later.

CointreauVersial · 19/12/2011 13:04

BTM - I think penis guy had forgotten he was in a public place - they were in a private room at the back of the pub. As he marched through the bar with his inflatable he was followed by a mexican wave of titters, and he definitely looked as if he wished he had deflated it first.

On the subject of losing presents I haven't yet dared peer into the large box of stocking fillers that I have been topping up all year. I need to sort through it tonight, so I have time to make up any deficiencies in quantity for any of the DCs (I reckon DS will be short). I think I'll find all sorts in there.

Quantity is all important, as they very sweetly take it in turns to open each stocking filler present, and woe betide Santa if he has got his numbers wrong after a few too many nips at the sherry.

herbaceous · 19/12/2011 13:54

I keep my onions in the vegetable rack. I am the lowest of the low.

bigTillyMincepie · 19/12/2011 14:58

No Herbs, I am - I keep them in a drawer with the spuds and assorted crap!

Am hiding in Nero hoping DH has now met the inlays and DC and taken them into bowling. Amaretto latte is lush.

CV we have the same stocking filler counting scenario on our bed every year!

wilbur · 19/12/2011 18:57

They're a blimming miracle and make me feel like a competent cook, which I most certainly am not. And two for one at the moment, or they were at the end of last week.

motherinferior · 19/12/2011 19:01

I really should have put some of those on the Ocado order Grin I shall have to make the (organic chicken liver with green peppercorn) pate without and compensate with Extra Garlic.

Mind you I usually add Extra Garlic...

Blackduck · 20/12/2011 07:04

Good afternoon from goa ladies Grin
All lovely here apart from the 48 hour puke/poo number from ds..., nothing a doctor and drugs couldn't cure!! I am catching up on thread slowly, but wanted to say hi and, yes 20th should work for me. And we appear to have bought a house (in the uk, not India)

QueenLush · 20/12/2011 07:50

Xmas Envy at Goa, Blackduck. And Xmas Smile re house - more details when you get back please.

BTM - if you keep your spuds and onions in the same place, the onions will cause the spuds to sprout/go off. Apparently.

Tree now up - large cat appears to have taken residence inside it. Kitten just looks bewildered. Will decorate it tonight. Think I will make curry for Christmas Eve as not in the mood for goulash and latkes this year.

CointreauVersial · 20/12/2011 17:21

Must get off MN and make some mince pies.

Well done on the house, BD. Is it house A, B, C, D, E or F? Grin

bigTillyMincepie · 20/12/2011 21:28

BD, I have very happy memories of Goa Xmas Envy and great news about the house!

QL, have never heard that before, but our spuds don't last long in there anyway!

Just back from Christmas do, not too wobbly despite drinking since 2, and it being a Wetherspoons and cheap drinks! We know how to push the boat out hereXmas Smile

Blackduck · 21/12/2011 02:37

What's this fb like malaley about? (honestly, go away for five minutes and they rearrange the furniture).
Never knew that about pots/onions...
House c - serious cold feet, I love my house....,

QueenLush · 21/12/2011 06:57

DD1 is wheezing quite badly, so will be ringing the doctor later. Xmas Sad Hopefully I won't have to schlep her across Paris to see him, but can just stick her back on a short blast of steroids.
DD2, not to be outdone, started her periods last night. She seemed remarkably unfazed by it, beyond commenting on how gross the ST felt. It's really too big for her little knickers (she's 10) Xmas Sad - will have to see if Monoprix yields up teen towels or something smaller.
DH appears to have taken the opportunity of getting the Christmas decs out, to clear out the hall cupbooard. Or should I say, just pulling everything onto the hall floor and telling me that it is "all my shit" (it's mostly kitchen equipment that can't be stored in my tiny Parisian kitchen, and cookery books) and I "need to sort it." Like I don't have enough to do...

Blackduck · 21/12/2011 08:37

Oh QL sounds like it is all happening at once there Sad
I am stuck between ds - moaning about how we walk - and Dp who thinks nothing of walking miles on a beach reading a book. I am seriously Angry at both of them. Meanwhile Dp has list his glasses - what do you expect going canoeing in the sea with them on?

motherinferior · 21/12/2011 09:54

I haven't been to Goa since I was eight. Am Xmas Envy of whole India thing though, I still seem to have no spare cash to go myself....

My kids have been fighting. I want a BREAK. It is CHRISTMAS ffs. Mr Inferior is playing Plants vs Zombies to a degree that makes me want to kill him. I have PMT and am also tired (and went swimming at 7am today...)

QueenLush · 21/12/2011 10:04

Hooray, doc says just to stick her on three day course of steroids, so no need to schlep across town to the Marais. It is pissing down here.
