Yes, but as I understand it, any old lurker can just click on the FB like thing and the thread is up there on FB.

Stropperella · 16/12/2011 09:49

And if someone then comes on MN on the back of that and does a search on a posting name... Well, me no likey. Ciao to Stropperella. I was getting bored with the name anyway. I shall reinvent myself and go back to being circumspect in my posting habits.

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather have it gone.

bigTillyMincepie · 16/12/2011 11:01

Yes, I was wondering what to do about it last night.

I think I might do the same as you ruby, but I will have to wait till I get home as we can't get on FB here!

herbaceous · 16/12/2011 14:47

OMG. Back from Westfield. It started off quite civilised, and I even emerged alive from the Lego shop, but by lunchtime I was craving a flamethrower to get the masses out of my way. And it was BOILING. And I didn't get everything I needed, especially DP's present. He is IMPOSSIBLE to buy for.

DukesOfTripHazard · 16/12/2011 17:10

DP present ideas/wot I'm getting mine:

Swiss army credit card thing

ice grips

Plus he has asked for 'interesting beers in the proportion of 50% lager 25% cider 25% bitter and other ales'. Which is good. I rejected his first choice which was a sofa Hmm

my dh wants some handmade bespoke bookshelves Hmm. v festive.

wilbur · 16/12/2011 17:54

Dukes - you just reminded me that I have to get dh some nice beers from the kids. I actually asked the dcs what they wanted to put under the tree for daddy and they all said "beer" and then ds1 added "or a new bike". He's getting beer.

I'm also a bit Hmm about the Facebook thing. I am reasonably hard to find on the internet due to having a very common name, and I like the anonymity. Hopefully we are enough of a dull clique now that no one is going to "like" us anyway....

Have just got to the Cotswolds with the kids for a couple of days - bit of shopping in Cirencester (v civilised) a walk or two, but mainly being out of the way of stressed dh as he gets ready for Christmas sales. I have left him 68p's worth of liver in the fridge as a billet doux. I don't eat liver as it tastes of socks, so it's the only time he gets to have it. Am going back on Sunday evening to take ds1 to It's a Wonderful Life at the BFI Grin. Then Christmas will really have started.

Ruby - how's your mum?

herbaceous · 16/12/2011 18:35

My DP doesn't want clothes, homeware, or anything practical. He's bought most of the music he's going to like, and has particular tastes. He doesn't do any sport. He has given me a long wish list on Amazon of books for his Masters degree, but that's too boring.

In the past I've got scarves, nice glasses, cufflinks, er... anything I can think of. This year I'm struggling. Currently top of the list is an iPod dock in the shape of an Angry Bird (his fave game) and possibly a CD of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, which makes him wet himself laughing.

Hi crepeys, just checking in from the train en route to DH's work Christmas Do up in Westminster. DH is doing a very good impression of being fast asleep, but looks very fetching in his black tie.

This FB thing, I must have missed it. Anyway, I figure most of the stuff I post is a) available to any Tom Dick or Harry already, and b) far too dull to be of any interest. Strops, you'll have to come back in disguise.

Herbs, DH and I overcame the Christmas present conundrum several years ago; we just buy something together that we want. This year it is a new bed. That just leaves the DCs - I still haven't sorted out DS because he keeps changing his mind. At this rate he'll get a cheque.

Anyway, laters dudes, got some partying to do.

I'm off out too! To a gay club's christmas party in the Barbican. Another occasion for black sequin dress, methinks. I can't imagine it's possible to be overdressed for a gay club Christmas party.

It doesn't end until 1am! And I've got carol singing tomorrow! I truly live on the edge.

CointreauVersial · 17/12/2011 00:22

Posting from train on the way homey again. DH similarly slumbering, but looking a little more dishevelled than earlier. We missed our last train so will now have to battle with the drunks in the taxi queue at Epsom station. Boo. Bet your evening was more fun than mine, Herbs.

CointreauVersial · 17/12/2011 00:24

Homey?!

herbaceous · 17/12/2011 00:25

Not sure it was CV. Went to the lav at 11 o'clock to be greeted by a surprise visit from aunt flo. Came unprepared. No handy machine in the lavs. So had to come home! Feared for my boots on potentially vomit-filled 23.48 from Liverpool Street, on surely the office party night of the year, but it was remarkably staid. Now home. Think I could have got away with staying longer...

CointreauVersial · 17/12/2011 00:40

Nooooo..... Nightmare!

I can vouch for the preponderance of office parties this evening, judging by the people on this train.

DH has promised to run for a taxi at Epsom but is currently SNORING.

bigTillyMincepie · 17/12/2011 12:17

House survived DD and her friends but now reeks of burnt popcorn - she foolishly let a friend convince her she could make popcorn like I do on the stove........ It could have been much worse I guess.

Sorry to hear your night was cut short Herbs - until I went on the HRT I had to make sure I had stuff with me ALL the time Angry

CV did your DH run for a cab?Xmas Grin

CointreauVersial · 17/12/2011 19:06

Yes, DH did run for a taxi, but not very fast, so we joined the back of a very long queue. Actually, it was quite a convivial atmosphere, our collective irritation at the lack of cabs turned into a quite a laugh. We found someone in the queue who lived about 5 minutes away from us, so we ended up sharing his cab and got home at 1.30am.

No footy this morning, so I didn't even open my eyes until 10am, then we had croissants and coffee in bed and lazed about for the rest of the day. Heaven.

herbaceous · 17/12/2011 19:15

Mmmm. 10am. A girl can dream.

BTM - I am usually equipped with 'sanpro', but had just taken a tiny bag, with minimal requirements, rather than my usual, better stocked, affair. I shall know for next time!

bigTillyMincepie · 17/12/2011 19:20

Yes had a very lazy day here too after all the rushing around of the last few days and much more to come.

I am becoming more Michelin-Man like by the day and I have a whole fortnight of eating and drinking ahead of meXmas Shock starting tomorrow with a trip to SuperWok or some all-you-can-eat Chinese as we will be at the outlaws. Heeeeeelllllllppppppppp!

I may be on the wagon for the whole of Jan. Apart from the 20th of courseXmas Smile

QueenLush · 17/12/2011 22:20

Did someone mention my name? Xmas Grin

I am back from Belgium.

HuffyTheVampireSlayer · 18/12/2011 20:27

I was v. glad that it was the end of term on Friday. But after a w/e of illness, whining and bickering from the lovely offspring, I am slightly cheesed-off there is no school tomorrow.

Re: not liking the like: just me being paranoid as usual, then. I've reported a few of my own posts that made me twitchy and given myself a slap. Feeling better now. Or I would be if I had actually finished anything at all on my to-do list aside from putting up the Christmas tree. The offspring managed to bicker all the way through that, too, and only narrowly avoided a hideous death-by-bauble inflicted by their mother.
