Or mine! :)

Dog has snaffled half a packet of Jaffa cakes... Should I worry? :)

Stropperella · 20/10/2011 21:52

Blackduck - I don't know that Jaffa cakes are chocolatey enough to be toxic. I think it's likely you can just stick to worrying about how much sick you will have to clear up later Grin.

I used to drive a Nissan Micra. A gold one. With a lot of dents.

Stropperella · 20/10/2011 21:56

Dukes, I hope your mum starts getting better soon. Am glad to hear that at least she is settled in hospital now. Thanks for the styling advice Grin. I need to sit in a cloud of patchouli incense smoke for about 2 hours to get the full effect...

Blackduck · 20/10/2011 21:56

Any resultant sick will be handled by dp, he left said Jaffa cakes where dog could snaffle them..... :)

CointreauVersial · 20/10/2011 22:44

Don't talk to me about sick - I had to work from home today so I could mop the fevered brow of DS1, who was reclining limp and moaning on the sofa.

Actually, I knew he was ill when he declined a bacon sandwich when I was making one for DH. He asked for a bowl of grapes instead.....then puked them up undigested a couple of hours later. Mmmm, lovely.

And don't talk to me about unfashionable vehicles; I spent the last seven years driving a Hyundai Trajet people carrier. I am immune to all car-related mockery.

Hope your mum is still OK, Dukes.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/10/2011 06:49

Mmmm, bacon sandwich. With nice pappy white English sliced bread.

I hate driving. We have a 13 year old Honda, so not cool either.

Finallygotaroundtoit · 21/10/2011 06:57

For an on topic question;

The youngsters have been raving about Bare Escentuals make up. I wasn't brave enough to ask, but is it OK for crepeys or does it settle in the folds and cracks?

Anyone know before I spend yet more money cos MN made me ?

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/10/2011 07:05

Made me look terrible (I have commented on the thread) - settled in all of the creases, highlighting them nicely, and made pores look huge (I think I have reasonably good skin too). Orange lady at Selfridges, snapped at me, when I pointed this out, that "most mature ladies like yourself really like it." She did give me quite a good mascara though.

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2011 08:45

MrsS does have good skin - must be all the alcohol that has preserved it Grin

herbaceous · 21/10/2011 11:46

I haven't tried that new-fangled mineral make-up, but when I've seen it in action on other crepeys - those in the choir - it does seem kinda powdery and wrinkle-enhancing.

Further research into Nissan Micras seems to reveal that the newer ones are driven by normal-sized people. It's the old ones that are driven by tiny women leaning right over the steering wheel.

Going to get my eyes tested today. Have realised that the right one is OK, but the left one is terrible. Hope I can resist buying glasses 'in store', and can buy them online from a bargain place. Not least because my appointment is in Boots in Ilford, which I fear may not have the most fashion-forward frames.

Blackduck · 21/10/2011 17:25

Okay Hags I feel we need to do some % of S&B per thread...so.....shall I shan't I?

herbaceous · 21/10/2011 19:13

BD - it's a yes from me. Lovely, and looks like it would be very 'useful', as my mum would say.

I've just spent £100 on two pairs of specs. How tedious.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/10/2011 20:21

BD - lovely, yes. But if you are particularly blessed in the nork department, I think it would be a no-no.

Herbs, that is a bargain for specs. Mine cost 500 quid. I have to have a special lens in one, and the other needs to be made thin, otherwise, as the nice man said "you will look as if you have one piece of plain glass and one bottle bottom in your glasses."

BTM - I think gin and champagne must be very good for the skin. Grin

herbaceous · 21/10/2011 20:52

I nearly just bought a pair of generic reading glasses for a tenner, but as I'm astigmatic as well as old, my eyes wouldn't thank me.

Watching 'celebrity' masterchef, and filled with the urge for nougatine.

Finallygotaroundtoit · 22/10/2011 07:22

Thanks MrsS I will give the Escentuals a miss.

Bit peeved that I have to put up with spots and wrinkles as well as heavy periods and hot flushes - how is that fair ? [hangry]

bigTillyMint · 22/10/2011 07:34

BD that dress is lovely Envy

Herbs, I'm lucky - my optician has actually told me (twice now!) that I may as well buy the cheap reading glasses as my eyes are both at the same level of "need"! Which is just as well as I keep losing them!

FGRTI, I agree!

Blackduck · 22/10/2011 07:46

I wonder if dp would notice if i bought - I'm a black and grey kinda girl and he is notoriously unobservant! Ds would love it just for the colour. Worrying about norms comment, not flat chested, but not huge (I don't think) either.
Fab night out with ex colleagues which was amazingly loud and screetchy despite lack of alcohol, so to any one in The Emperor wondering what the bunch of noisy were on, I apologise :)

Blackduck · 22/10/2011 07:46

Noisy women...

motherinferior · 22/10/2011 09:45

Morning all Grin

Am settling into the smart-casual vibe of my work. And am continuing to purchase some appropriate garments. Currently pondering (I ponder for ages before I buy!) this or this....

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/10/2011 10:13

Ooh, I like both of those with a slight preference for the second.

My bargainous shoes have just arrived from Amazon - one pair of Fly London, one pair of Camper. Grin

DD1 had a sleepover last night, DD2 has one tonight. Why can't they synchronise so that we can go out to dinner a deux?

Unpleasantly cold and slightly misty this morning. Have done my big Monoprix shop and will go to the market tomorrow. V tired, may have a nap this afternoon.

motherinferior · 22/10/2011 10:19

I am now thinking the first, on account of length (being a shortarse: I rang and asked them how long the respective garments were). Not cheap, but v nice.

Am taking the Inferiorettes to a Big Draw event this afternoon. THis involves getting on the train (along with one extra child), getting off the train 10 minutes later, going to Goldsmith's college and settling down with a nice thick thriller while they do Art for a few hours. (Other mates of DD1's are joining them, apparently.) I like this kind of involved, committed parenting - I do think it's important to foster a rounded appreciation of out of school activities, don't you? Grin

I'd go for the charcoal. Oooh, yes, I'd use a MN or Ocado discount...

Ruby, I feel quite faint reading that...

bigTillyMint · 22/10/2011 12:05

MI, love both of themEnvy Envy!

ruby, just cheered DS's school team on at their match - they won 3-2 with a cheeky goal from DS (I have turned from football-hating into a proud footymother - both DS and DD playBlush). Your week sounds rather gruelling, apart from the scrub and massage - was it at a lovely spa?

MrsS, diners a deux are a thing of the past - much easier to organise before the DC got their own social lives!
DS is in 7th heaven with his weekend plans - footy match then Sunday team training today, going to see local team play this afternoon with mate who is then coming with us to the Dogs and staying for a sleepover, NZ rugby tomorrow!
DD has a friend coming tomorrow, then they are going to the cinema with the gang and then friend coming back for sleepover.

Oh well, there is some hope of us getting a night off when we go to the in-laws for a couple of nights, but probably with BIL in tow!

Weather here is lovely and sunny - set for the weekend MrsSSmile

DukesOfTripHazard · 22/10/2011 13:25

Hospital visit in mo, stopping off at Primark in Tooting for scarves (S&B, non?) and bits for dd2s party bags. It's bowling party tomorrow.

Second dress preferred by me too mi. Blackduck - go for it.
