Oh ruby, that's a bit worrying. Sounds like Wilbur's advice is good.

Oh your poor mum, phlebitis is grim. Hope the meds all do the trick quickly and she gets back to normal soon.

bigTillyMincepie · 13/12/2011 18:05

ruby, my mum had a stroke 2 years ago. It really only affected her speech, and even now she sounds pretty confused when tired - she muddles words and can't remember other words. It's pretty tricky when you are relying on talking to her on the phoneGrin
Have they given her some sort of exercises to do?

It does take older people a lot longer to recover from things - my mum was at least 6months recovering from the stroke. Does she go out to do stuff with friends/clubs, etc?

herbaceous · 13/12/2011 19:37

BTM - someone missing from your list?

FuckingWonderwoman · 14/12/2011 06:56

MI has also said she can come.

After my name changing angst, Nigella didn't even answer my question, the beeeyatch. Having had a quick look through the questions she did answer, she only seemed to pick the ones that fawned and cooed over her. Huh. Angry

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Ruby. Hope she picks up for Christmas.

I'm good ruby. How's your mum?

Planning a half-day at Westfield Stratford tomorrow, partly to get some Christmas shopping done, and partly to just have some time on my own to sit and gawp into space in a cafe.

Who's watching professional master chef? It has dominated my life for the past few weeks, and it's the final tonight. Unreasonably excited.

bigTillyMincepie · 15/12/2011 17:18

Great rubyXmas Grin About the 20th Jan I mean, not cancelling your party on SaturdayXmas Sad

I am good now - felt crappy Mon/Tues with a coldy thing, but they are my at home days so it was OK! Only one more day at work tomorrowXmas Grin
Herbs, your shopping plan sounds good - hope you can get a table - bet it's mobbedXmas Grin

DS has just been invited to another party - his friend's 103yo Great Grandma is having a Christmas party and sent her daughter (friend's Grandma) to ask if he can go because she liked him so much! DH wants to say no as he doesn't want to stay up till he gets in at about midnight, but DS said it's not a prob and he will take his keys and let himself in. He is 10Xmas Grin

Can't stand those 2 presenters on MC !

herbaceous · 15/12/2011 19:03

Ooh I bloody love Michel Roux. He's so firm but fair, and has such lovely big cow eyes. And the chefs just glow when he praises their food. Greg is an utter parody of himself, however.

But yes - I bet Westfield is rammed, and I give up after half an hour, come home and order it all on Amazon.

oldqueenie · 15/12/2011 19:54

hello my crepey friends!
have been lurking on and off but felt too too jaded and exhausted to post anything even vaguely interesting / entertaining.... now it feels as though the end of the tunnel is in sight. dss finish school tomorrow and everything else that has me running around comes to a halt foe a bit too... phew!
we are riveted to masterchef here too. can we invite monica on a night out?! isn't she impressively scary! dh is in love with her i think.
what are plans for the 20th? idea sounds tempting... but do you all know each other? will it be all in jokes and and reminiscing Grin?

bigTillyMincepie · 15/12/2011 22:14

We haven't talked about a venue yet, I don't think? We went to the BFI bar last time which was really cool.

Evening - whenever people can get there - was it 6ish onwards last time?

No no no Tilly old bean. John torode's the Australian, but he isn't in the professionals version. Greg, the bald cockney pudding fancier, is, but just parrots the opinions of the lovely michel.

bigTillyMincepie · 16/12/2011 08:04

ruby, that's great newsXmas Grin

HerbsXmas Blush

Last day woo hoo! However, DD has invited 8 friends back when school shuts at 11.40 (is it worth them going in???) - will the house be in any fit state when I get in?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to kill off Stropperella and have all my posts pulled. I am v. unhappy about the silly FB "like" button.
