Yes, BD

FuckingWonderwoman · 11/12/2011 21:31

Mmmm, curry...

I am attempting to give up alcohol between now and Christmas. Or only ver' small amounts, as was feeling a little fragile on Sunday morning. Xmas Blush

ruby, you haven't lived. Yo Sushi is so fun, but be sure to only go when you have a voucher for half-price or something as all those dishes on the conveyor belt are very tempting!

What happened in the champagne bar? Do tellSmile

Have a wonderful holiday blackduck - really relax and I hope al the house stuff is magically sorted out when you get back.

Our house move not progressing so well. Just as we got the asbestos issue sort of sorted, we discovered our buyers have lost their buyers, so the chain has broken in the middle. Nothing we can do about it now, so I'm still (amazingly) zen about it.

Have done vast amounts of baking this weekend - mince pies, date cookies and chocolate flapjack for teacher gifts. The tree is up, and we saw the glorious, amazing, you-must-see-it, MATILDA, on Saturday afternoon, so I am feeling proper festive. I do however have a honking cold, so need to go to bed now.

go rubyXmas Grin That's what's great about being crepey - we don't care what others think!

I thought you were going to say your challenge was to give up drinking!

CointreauVersial · 12/12/2011 10:06

Wow, Ruby, that's quite a challenge. All that lovely Spring stuff in the shops.....mmmmm.....

Hi Wilbur, sorry to hear about the house, but I think you have the right attitude; getting frazzled about such things doesn't actually serve to speed anything up. Glad to hear Matilda was good - we have tickets for the 27th, and I can't wait.

Well, I'm enjoying a random day off work today; I was told I had to "use it or lose it" as we can't carry holiday over, and I'm always hectic in the last week before Christmas, so here I am. I have vague plans involving Christmas cards and housework, but for now, Mumsnet. Baby steps, baby steps.Grin I've just been for a run, so I'm feeling a tiny bit virtuous (and am just regaining the feeling in my legs - boy, it's cold).

The Christmas decs went up yesterday, but I didn't clean first (domestic slattern), so I now have to dust round even more nick-nacks.

bigTillyMincepie · 12/12/2011 10:08

DustCV? You dust?

CointreauVersial · 12/12/2011 10:10

Well, I chase it around with an eco-cloth. Someone has to! When the kids start writing their names on the glass TV stand I figure it's about time. Blush

bigTillyMincepie · 12/12/2011 10:21

Luckily we don't get much dust in our houseGrin

Blackduck · 12/12/2011 13:34

Ruby I will join you in non buying thing ... I am in Manchester airport which is souless. Ds has hand luggage that consists of half a library and dp has taken himself off for a restorative coffee - I don't do the travelling thing very well and get stressy. I stress him out, he stresses me out, maybe we are a bad match Smile

FuckingWonderwoman · 12/12/2011 19:15

DH has a swiffer which he uses for dusting. Men like gadgets. I use a yellow duster to dust my bedside cabinet and my side of the large chest of drawers which he refuses to do. Xmas Grin

Ruby, I would have got quite vocal about that crap service and demanded my tip back too. I hate crap service and the "entitlement" to a tip. I was asked if I wanted to add a gratuity to my bill at Yo Sushi. I asked, why, what have you done? We have helped ourselves to food, had to get our own glasses for the water, the sparkling water wasn't working, we weren't offered an alternative, and we should tip you for what? If I get good service, I tip accordingly, too.

Are we on for the 20th of Jan? I have to be back in UK that week for work anyway, so that works quite well. If not, I will end up going back to the Groucho and drinking an obscene amount and misbehaving again. Xmas Grin Or I can do that on the Thursday night anyway.. WineWineWine

CointreauVersial · 12/12/2011 21:45

MrsS, the chances of me persuading DH that a duster (even one with a groovy name) is a "gadget" are minimal, I'm afraid.

If it doesn't plug in and make a noise/mess he's not interested.

Yes, I'm on for 20th Jan.

bigTillyMincepie · 13/12/2011 06:56

MrsS, you are fuckingwonderwoman - how did you manage to find / persuade a DH who likes cleaning gadgets?????????? Mine doesn't even like gadgets that he could play with. He has a £7 phone FFS!

Yes, for me for 20th Jan - shall we start a list

In haste, before rushing off to spectate ds's Christmas play, please add me to the list for 20th Jan, although I have to confess I do feel a bit guilty about that date as is ds's b-day. However, as it is karate night, he won't be doing anything much b-day-ish anyway. So I should book my train ticket...

bigTillyMincepie · 13/12/2011 11:10

Yes, Strops, he won't even notice you're not thereGrin

Me me me!

Pass me a brandy. Survived the play centre xmas party without strangling That Woman. Led the singing, and DS obligingly did all the actions. AND won the fancy dress costume. So, altogether a successful morning's work.

But by 'eck, spending three hours in an enclosed environment with 25 toddlers and their parents - plus politics - is not restful.

Ruby - have they checked your mum for DVTs or pulmonary embollism? If she has been sedentary after her fall, it's a possibility and my dad used to have weird episodes of confusion when he had his PEs. Sorry to scaremonger, but it's worth asking the doc, although it's prob just the strong antibiotics/painkillers playing havoc with her system. Did anyone esle read the thing in the Sunday Times about them having "discovered" the stomach and gut acts like a second brain for the body, almost independent of the first brain. Very interesting.

I am probably on for the 20th Jan, will have to confirm closer to the time as there's a lot on for ds1 at that point.
