Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

1028 replies

JodieHarsh · 25/09/2011 17:16

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

RIGHT.

I am now home from work. Slap was applied at 7ish.

Slap REMAINS RESOLUTELY IN PLACE, including on my horrid gopping great nostril-spot.

DH summoned for inspection. "Blimey, looks like you just did it."

That DOES it. Everyone needs this in their lives.

the lipgloss doesn't stay very long but I think maybe that's just gloss for you? i normally wear a Max Factor lipfinity thing that goes on like enamel and won't be shifted unless you scrub it for about 30 minutes.

I am about to watch an eye makeup tutorial....

AND I love the warmth. Brings my face more to life, looks a bit flat without.Funny innit?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2011 18:29

Bisque is dreadful under eyes but good around red bits on the nose etc. I use either Lancome (when rich) or the Garnier roller (when poor like now) under my eyes. Am now v tempted to investigate Buxom. :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2011 18:30

Totally agree that Warmth sort of lifts and 'unflattens' the face. I have never used bronzer and hate the fact that it makes my face look mucky but warmth just seems to bring it to life a bit.

gregssausageroll · 26/09/2011 18:49

I have digusting amounts of buxom lippies. I love them!

ggirl · 26/09/2011 18:58

Christ all fucking mighty you beatches..

I want to try it again now..have had it out on before and looked silvery shit.

I have combo skin/red veins/big pores on nosee and wrinkly eyes

Am I too old for it?

DO i have to go to JL and suffer the humiliation of getting my face done in the public glare???

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:06
Grin

ggirl get thee to counter. Boots do it now. Honestly, 'tis in the application. The first time I did it, I got an iridescent cheek covered in potholes. Tried again and, well, as per the above effusions, really Grin

I have sensitive skin prone to red patches and bumps, incipient laughter lines, a tendency to spots, and when I do get spots I have extremely red angry scars for weeks after because I pick them.

I have tried mineral foundation before and, like 95% of ALL foundations, it's turned into an oil slick on my face. Is BE going to be any different?

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:17

Well firstly Ms Fabray, you are so exquisitely beautiful I don't see why you'd need makeup Grin

And secondly - well, all i can say is that after months of shrieking SHINY HEAD SHINY HEAD!!1!!!!11!! every time I passed a mirror, today I was all matte and lovely, if still slightly dewy, somehow. Could you go to a counter and ask a Nice Orange Lady to 'do you', then go and do some shopping, eat lunch, all that, and see how it goes??

SueNarmy · 26/09/2011 19:23

Jodie who are you

ggirl · 26/09/2011 19:24

just what I was thinking sue

trixymalixy · 26/09/2011 19:25

How much mess does it make? What put me off when I had it done at Debenhams was all the excess powder flying everywhere.

meltedchocolate · 26/09/2011 19:25

Just got dispatch confirmation.

Glad it's going so well Jodie and others. I wish I was close enough to somewhere that had counters and orange ladies. I would travel, I really would. Same as I wish to travel to a DUO store somewhere to try on and get the only really nice boooots that I really really want. But alas, we are talking a good 300 miles :( boo

meltedchocolate · 26/09/2011 19:26

trixy towel and clip Wink

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:29

Wot wot?

What do you mean who am I?

I am not M i t m o o for a start.

electra · 26/09/2011 19:29

I've been using BE for years - it is fabulous and does not damage or work against your skin (I used to use Chanel before)

I only buy the foundation powder with SPF and it's about £18 on Beauty Bay. How on earth did they get you to part with £90??

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:30

Oh - Trix - yes 'tis tres messy. My sofa looks like the cat sat on it without cleaning her bottom properly. But I shall Learn to do it Properly.

OP posts:
MrsKwazii · 26/09/2011 19:31

The stuff is ruddy genius. I've been wearing it for about two years now and I will never go back to liquid foundation. Am a total convert!

electra · 26/09/2011 19:31

oh I see you've bought lip gloss etc too. It lasts ages. I've not tried the lip gloss - is it any good?

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:32

Electra I had added up wrong - 'twas eighty not ninety. I got two kits you see, one for foundationy stuff and one for everything else. And I absolutely do NOT go cold with terror every time I think about it Hmm

OP posts:
ggirl · 26/09/2011 19:35

Jodie -d'ya live in west country??

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 19:37

Nope.

But you will now have to PM me and tell me why you asked, and if you don't I will come and wee in your BE pots Grin

OP posts:
electra · 26/09/2011 19:37

It'll be worth it though - it will last for ages Jodie. The foundation does stay on. Apparently if you forget to take it off at night it doesn't damage your skin.

cyb · 26/09/2011 19:40

I was wondering who Jodie was too....or who she used to be

cyb · 26/09/2011 19:41

gg I had my face done in Bentalls, she made me take all my make up off THE HORRORS

Just done dd (16) she likes it too

She can keep her thieving hands off though
