Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Here you go

We have extended this thread a wee bit, please make sure that anyone who has posted is aware of the giveaway.
Thanks

I have tried using my tester kit several times, I do like the way it looks, I think I make a much better job of it than the orange lady did. BUT. I have tried to ignore it, but it just makes my face too itchy. Waaah!!!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 12/10/2011 20:40

Trixy are you using the original? If so, it will be the bismuth in it irritating your skin. Try the matte as it's bismuth-free.

trixymalixy · 12/10/2011 21:18

Ooh, I got the matte in my tester kit, so will give that a try. Thanks!

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 16:53

Have been using the Bare Minerals for a few months now and really like it. But I don't find it lasts anywhere near as long as they say it should. Maybe I am putting too much on and not tapping enough off?

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 17:00

Come and join the SHEEP thread - lots of tips there Hulababy :)

Trix try Lily Lolo - good for people who react to BE as it doesn't contain bismouth with is a known irritant apparently. BE brushes are goat hair - you might be reacting to that?

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 17:05

OK, will look for new thread

mummytowillow · 13/10/2011 20:37

Reading this with interest!! I've just shelled out for Clarins Everlasting foundation which so far I've been pleased with?

I've always used Estee Lauder double wear but found it a bit dry to put on. Does the powder last all day? What does it look like if you have oily t-zone, as mines terrible?

Wondering if I should by a trial set now?? Hmm

ggirl · 13/10/2011 20:59

mummytowillow-it is excellent for oily t-zone. I have had problems with all foundations lasting on me. Estee Lauder doublewear too cakey , and the light slid off my face as did all others.
The Bare Escentuals matte stays put all day long..tis amazing ,come to new thread here for more tips etc

AliMaxwell · 14/10/2011 09:33

I can't get through to the Bare Escentuals tab on the Facebook page in order to get to the giveaway. I get a message saying, 'Secure browsing is not supported.' Any ideas anyone please? Thanks a mill.

ggirl · 14/10/2011 10:18

the giveaway isn't really a giveaway , just go to any BE counter and mention mumsnet free giveaway and you'll get a free sample...I think so

valiumredhead · 14/10/2011 10:20

Any make up counter will give you a sample before you decide to buy. Mac gave me a week's worth of foundation in a little pot, and Clinique and Estee Lauder too - I always need to see the foundation in daylight not under shop lights.

AliMaxwell · 14/10/2011 11:10

OK thanks I'll give it a go...

magnolia74 · 14/10/2011 17:54

ggirl · 14/10/2011 17:55

this offer includes a mini brush btw

maamalady · 15/10/2011 14:12

My nearest store is 50-something km away - I don't even know what a km is but it sounds very far

I am making no comment! They were all lovely, and I was given strict instructions to report back on their lack of orangeness... (though yes I think they work on a different level of orange/not orange to the rest of us) :)

Gingefringe · 17/10/2011 14:23

I've tried BE and Lily Lolo and the Lily Lolo is by far the best and lasts all day. Much cheaper and you can sometimes find on eBay.

kbaby · 17/10/2011 22:43

After reading all the rave reviews and needing some foundation I've taken the plunge and got some be, also bought the primer and night cream, which isn't a cream but a powderConfused I'm a salespersons dream.
I'm hoping that its going to make me look 30 with perfect luminous skin and not a lined, cakey lady.

Well on the strength of this 1000+ thread I just went to the shop in Covent Garden and bought the foundation starter kit. The make-up girl (about 21) looked a bit alarmed when I mentioned everyone was raving about it on Mumsnet - maybe she didn't speak to the PR Dept yet :)

kbaby · 18/10/2011 18:18

I think I worried about putting too much on I ended up putting too little on, I looked no different

What eye suitcase coverage does everyone else use, my eyes are quite lined so I stay away from powders normally.
