Bare Escentuals: THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK

I must post about this. I have just spunked nearly ninety quid on some Bare Escentuals starter kit things.

I arrived at the counter in Stratford Westfield with a hideous bright red, sore, scarred, spotty, sweaty face, and some WITCH managed to take a decade off me with POWDER. Just powder! I mean - WT actual F?! A tube ride and a 20 minute walk home and it's still there. SURELY that's not right. I've used all sorts of super-max coverage matte stuff and it didn't cover ANYTHING like this well. O and I have the glowing rosy cheeks of a teen Shock

I promise I've not been giver a tenner to post this stuff. It's just I've spent so much I feel slightly sick. Does anyone else use this stuff? it's not going to last is it. i'm an idiot. What have I done

Oh bloody hell, you REALLY did buy the lot didn't you? Shock Grin

valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 09:54

My absolute FAVOURITE BE product is the Bisque concealor - LOVE it!!!!

valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 09:56

I'm not over keen on the shadows as they end up all over my cheeks and I am too old to get away with an all over sparkly look! Grin

I never use the warmth as it looks 'dirty' on me and don't bother with the veil - my sister always raves about how good it is but it never impressed me enough to buy a second pot.

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 09:57

I really did Blush

In my defence, a year of bonkersly hard word paid some slight dividends although really I should pay off a credit card like a grown up

Let us not talk about what I did on the East website...

Oooo they do a concealer....NO! No, Jodie. CALM THE EFF DOWN.

OP posts:
JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 09:58

Oh yar, must say have no use whatsoever for 'warmth'. Partly because I like the English Rose look (indeed have no say in the matter) and bronzer is ridiculous on me. But it's the only thing I'm not thrilled with. I LOVE the veil!

Another vote for the Bisque concealor from me. I put it on with the BE concealor brush AFTER applying the foundation. It covers a multitude of redness and blemishes and lasts all day. In fact if I have to get up very early some mornings I don't even bother taking my BE make-up off the night before and it's still in place the next day. It is amazing!

Jux · 26/09/2011 10:18

May I hijack for a moment? How do you know what colour foundation to get if you can only get it on the internet? The only starter kit I can find atm contains foundation in medium and medium beige; how dark is that?

MissLovely · 26/09/2011 10:28

On the QVC UK website search item no. 229113. There is video demo describing how to apply the foundation and they go through the various shades.

valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 10:29

I think you need to get a tester Jux - it's a lot of money to waste on a mistake.

valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 10:29

Didn't you gat the Bisque concealor in the starter kit Jodie? You were ROBBED! Wink

valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 10:30

get

meltedchocolate · 26/09/2011 10:30

Checked the post?! I ordered it yesterday and I do not live in a place where next day delivery or morning post exists. I wish Hmm haha!

meltedchocolate · 26/09/2011 10:30

I did dream about it last night though Blush

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 10:31

Jux I agree with val. I actually think that anyone thinking of getting some should go to a counter and get 'done', because the aplpication is very distinctive and if you did it wrong you'd be horrified... There's a real trick to it.

Love it that MissL sleeps in her slap which I would never do except for all the times that I get too drunk to negotiate the facial wash

OP posts:
JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 10:32

Grin @ dreaming about it!

Val stoppit, I am a woman possessed already. I am only justifying this by saying I shall eat nowt but packed lunches for the next month.

I watched so many application videos last night it is embarrassing. I expect I will be an expert :o

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 10:41

Who knows Melted, maybe one day you can get every girl's dream job and be a counter-girl at Harvey Nicks Grin

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 10:42

DID YOU BUY A BUXOM LIP GLOSS????????

Did you? Did you?

They are FAB! Grin

JodieHarsh · 26/09/2011 10:50

IT WAS IN MY KIT AND I AM WEARING IT NOW!!!111!!!!

It tingles and is LUFFLY and I LUFFS it.

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 26/09/2011 10:55

I am wearing 'rose' - such a lovely colour and lasts ages. They seem expensive but when you compare the size of them to other makes they work out practically the same.

meltedchocolate · 26/09/2011 11:17

Ah yes Jodie, my dream job, what all the work for my maths degree has been for :o

Jux · 26/09/2011 15:48

Thanks, will look at video now. I don't know of anywhere around here that stocks it so I can't go get a demo, valium Sad. We don't have a Bravissimo anywhere around either.

Jux · 26/09/2011 16:18

Oh wow, meltedchocolate, I'm just starting a maths degree (not quite sure how that happened, mind you!).

Anyway, on topic, I've just found they've got a counter at Debenhams in Exeter, and dh and I are going in to Exeter on Wednesday. Hooray!

Should I go in bare faced (shudder), or wear my usual foundation, crap though it is - cannot get the right colour and have been countered by Clarins, Lancome and a couple of others.

cyb · 26/09/2011 16:22

I bought buxom lip gloss, In Vanessa. I love it, rich reddy blackcurrant colour but quite sheer when blotted. I imagine the tube will last for yonks cos its about 2 foot long

Wore my Bare today, my face is not greasy AT ALL I am totally amazed

cyb · 26/09/2011 16:23

Not a fan of the bisque however for my panda circles, I need industrial and that doesnt cut the mustard. great for other blotchy bits though
