What item of clothing or accessory do you JUST NOT WEAR?

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:30

Even though you think it's a perfectly fine garment, and can look lovely on other people?

I don't wear clothes with writing on. Or pictures. Patterns yes, but no motifs.

I have no idea why. I don't think they are ugly or trashy or frumpy or too young, they're just not me.

What's your "nothing wrong with it but it's just not me" item?

Leggings.
Tunic tops.

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:33

As a combo? Or you don't wear either ever (and so the two together is the thing you are least likely to be seen in ever)

OP posts:
BunnyLebowski · 17/06/2011 19:34

Leggings
Playsuits
Harem pants
Uggs

Although as opposed to thinking they're 'perfectly fine garments' I think they look atrocious on anyone.

Also

maxi dresses - I would look like a busted sofa.

Zwitterion · 17/06/2011 19:34

Any animal print. Looks great on other people, cack on me.

headfairy · 17/06/2011 19:35

I don't really wear anything with words on. I really don't want GAP written across my tits.

I will never wear leggings, chubby knees mean it's a nasty sight.
I also don't wear anything too pretty pretty, but that's because I'm nearly 6ft tall and look like the hanging gardens of Babylon with a floral frock on.

BitOfFun · 17/06/2011 19:35

Gimpsuits. They just don't do anything for me.

HappyAsIAm · 17/06/2011 19:35

Jumpsuits. I love them for this season, but I think they're not for 35 year olds like me (or maybe its just me).

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:36

Bunny - so is there anything that you do think is fine and lvoely on other people but never to be seen on you?

OP posts:
DuelingFanjo · 17/06/2011 19:38

Jeggings
tops with bits cut out of the shoulder
Trainers
Handbags

pink4ever · 17/06/2011 19:39

Skinny jeans-never never never. Really do not get it on here that they are recomended so much/ Do not look good on any one but very slim teenagers imo.
White jeans-just yuk.
Hoodies/fleeces-seriously unfeminine.

thestringcheeseincident · 17/06/2011 19:39

anything strapless or one shouldered
anything boxy (tops)
anything yellow or orange

freshprincess · 17/06/2011 19:40

Scarves, ones just for show rather than to keep your neck warm.
I just can't carry them Off.

pink4ever · 17/06/2011 19:41

Oh I forgot about one shouldered thing! am too broad in that area and just makes me look like a shot-putter.

baguettecut · 17/06/2011 19:42

I never wear skirts, they look nice on other people but for some reason I don't own one.

BunnyLebowski · 17/06/2011 19:43

Yup. Plenty of things.

Maxi dresses on tall willowy types. Body-con dresses on women with fabulous figures. Cute little <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=3.bp.blogspot.com/_KK1KBiNAnvE/TTGdyX8AjTI/AAAAAAAAACc/pkCWEJb6Swc/s1600/etsy.jpg&imgrefurl=themobbcouturestylists.blogspot.com/2011/01/peter-pan-collar.html&usg=__ULrdNL0FqxJa5J6wEA5I6k7JpHw=&h=800&w=902&sz=80&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=ud2x6Qy4FUkQxM:&tbnh=147&tbnw=161&ei=VZ_7TcvhDcjD8QO4iYmqCQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpeter%2Bpan%2Bcollar%2Bdress%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D925%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=130&vpy=400&dur=867&hovh=211&hovw=238&tx=120&ty=96&page=1&ndsp=53&ved=1t:429,r:21,s:0&biw=1680&bih=925" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Peter Pan collar dresses on small busted types.

Skinny jeans with over the knee boots on <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=photos-3.posh24.com/p/1105228/z/street_style/claudia_schiffer_brown_boots_j.jpg&imgrefurl=www.posh24.com/photo/756894/claudia_schiffer_brown_boots_j&usg=__z6CyR1aTFTf_OLlRkXj2Ph6jsZQ=&h=1290&w=968&sz=256&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=xcqO-mocMdIR_M:&tbnh=147&tbnw=111&ei=HKD7TZyEOIKi8QPE9djzDw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dclaudia%2Bschiffer%2Bbrown%2Bboots%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D925%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=127&vpy=59&dur=166&hovh=259&hovw=194&tx=95&ty=99&page=1&ndsp=57&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=1680&bih=925" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">anyone like this

HipHopOpotomus · 17/06/2011 19:45

Scarfs - of any description, worn in any way. Have always made me look and feel 65!

cruelladepoppins · 17/06/2011 19:48

Things I just don't wear:

Hipster trousers.
High heeled sandals.
Polyster fleece jackets (but trousers OK).
Velour tracksuits.
Maxi dresses (ordered 2 recently and sent them back after DH said I looked like a bridesmaid in them).
Logos; they are a real deal-breaker.

ggirl · 17/06/2011 19:52

logos
spaghetti straps or strapless
leggings
thongs
boleros
converse
nipple tassles

CroissantNeuf · 17/06/2011 19:56

Heels
Ear-rings (I've not worn them for years despite having 4 holes in my ears )

babylann · 17/06/2011 19:57

Those things. The furry things in the shape of a waistcoat. What are they called? Gillets?

toastandmarmiterocks · 17/06/2011 19:58

hoop earrings. I've got really odd ear lobes so they stick out sideways. Like them on other people though.

Paschaelina · 17/06/2011 20:00

Wolf fleece.

I'm sure they look good on some body types though.

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 20:00

That's funny, I would never not wear earrings. Don't like the look of the holes with nothing in them.

OP posts:
Bumperlicioso · 17/06/2011 20:02

Batwings, I have skinny arms and pointy shoulders and they really don't suit me, nothing float around my arms does.

Rarely wear earrings these days, I find they make my ears achy.

Don't wear pointy shoes. They look awful on my rather wide and large-for-my-height feet.

tassisssss · 17/06/2011 20:02

for years I didn't get crops but I got over that when I borrowed maternity ones

i took longer than most to do leggings and still amn't convinced

i like the idea of bodywarmers but amn't quite there yet!
