What item of clothing or accessory do you JUST NOT WEAR?

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:30

Even though you think it's a perfectly fine garment, and can look lovely on other people?

I don't wear clothes with writing on. Or pictures. Patterns yes, but no motifs.

I have no idea why. I don't think they are ugly or trashy or frumpy or too young, they're just not me.

What's your "nothing wrong with it but it's just not me" item?

nim My fav colour is yellow too! I rarely meet other fellow yellow wearers Grin

niminypiminy · 19/06/2011 22:12

Ooh very excited to meet you thenightsky!

thenightsky · 19/06/2011 22:15

Have loads of yellow tops and a bright yellow coat!

niminypiminy · 19/06/2011 22:25

And I also have a yellow dress!

Bunbaker · 20/06/2011 06:59

I think yellow looks fabulous on other people with the right colouring. It just happens to do nothing for me. As does lime green and orange. Those colours all make me look ill and tired.

Soups · 20/06/2011 08:11

Hats. I'd love to wear them but they look stoopid on me.

wrongdecade · 20/06/2011 08:48

leggins

fitted tshirts

polyhymnia · 20/06/2011 10:26

Hats too.

Fimbo · 20/06/2011 11:09

Uggs, my dd has the cardi ones, I tried them on and just no.

Skinny jeans, my legs are not well skinny enough.

Anything from Joules. Tried an oilskin type gilet on in there at the weekend, dh said I looked like Mrs Boot from Apple Tree Farm, all that was required was a shortgun & wellies.

Tunic/leggings combo. Look like a whale.

Short dress things over 3/4 length baggy jeans - the White Stuff look.

Fimbo · 20/06/2011 11:10

*shotgun

missmiss · 20/06/2011 11:32

Anything bias-cut. I have wide hips, I'd rather not make them look even wider.

Smart skirts/shirts/jackets. In a skirt suit I look like Maureen, 53, who works for Thomas Cook.

higgle · 20/06/2011 12:01

Ballet pumps and very flat shoes - My legs are good and look fine in heels but somehow very flat shoes make my legs look really short and my calves look enormous. I also don't wear shirts, no reason why, the odd one I've bought has remained unworn until it has gone off to the charity shop.

Bunbaker · 20/06/2011 12:51

Polo shirts. I am not very curvy and they make me look like a boy.
Knitted boots - why?

NettoSuperstar · 20/06/2011 19:51

DD told me earlier that I'm too old for jeans and Converse.
She says she wants me to dress like a Mum, instead of like a teenager.

Of course I'll be ignoring her, but I've no idea what I'd wear if I went with her?

Flowery blouses and wafty skirts, a la my mother?
Or perhaps jeans and a blouse, purple. matching with polka dots, from M&S?
Ecco shoes with tights in all weathers?
Heels no bigger than an inch, and then moaning that they are too high?
A cauliflower perm?
A moustache?

I'm almost tempted to do it, and then see how much DD hates my lookGrin

BulletWithAName · 20/06/2011 19:53

Netto- How about some lovely Not Your Daughter's Jeans teamed with some hiking boots and a fleece. Tres chic! Grin

TrilllianAstra · 20/06/2011 20:11

If she doesn't like you looking the same how about she dresses like a mum? Wink

NettoSuperstar · 20/06/2011 20:59

Yes, I should get some slightly too short bootcut jeans, with block heeled black boots and a fleece.
Grin
I'll fit in with the other mother at least then I s'pose.

madmomma · 20/06/2011 21:23

anything from per una, uggs, chenille, fleece, trainers, vests (fat arms), belts (apple shape), jeans (muffin top issues) pointy shoes, flip flops, polo necks, chunky knits, anything shiny, long skirts

DiNammic · 20/06/2011 21:31

Netto. My mate said " they may not be your daughters jeans but they certainly are your grandmothers" avoid.

Bumperlicioso · 21/06/2011 07:26

Round/crew necks look weird on me for some reason
Nail varnish tends to make me look like a drag queen
Love drop waisted or empire line dresses but unfortunately both emphasise my widest points
I do however look pretty good in hats and glasses, I have a face/hair which suits both

cumbria81 · 21/06/2011 11:40

I never wear black as I look like a corpse.

I think maxi dresses are fucking hideous and an affront to sartorial sense

Uggs are just slippers
