What item of clothing or accessory do you JUST NOT WEAR?

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:30

Even though you think it's a perfectly fine garment, and can look lovely on other people?

I don't wear clothes with writing on. Or pictures. Patterns yes, but no motifs.

I have no idea why. I don't think they are ugly or trashy or frumpy or too young, they're just not me.

What's your "nothing wrong with it but it's just not me" item?

Belts, i often need them but I have a smallish waist but rather large hips and if I wear a belt look like the join in a string of sausages. Also I don't need any extra bulk in the tummy department.

CountBapula · 18/06/2011 09:04

Shirts. I always get that unflattering gapey effect at the buttons. And they remind me of being at school.

Ditto on the jauntily-tied chiffony scarf thing. People buy them for me too. Why? Why?!

fishie · 18/06/2011 09:04

i never wear shoes. boots sandals clogs or running shoes only.

i seem to have foresworn tights as well, haven't worn any for a couple of years.
sleeveless things make me look like a navvy

bellavita · 18/06/2011 09:10

Will never wear crocs either....

tulpe · 18/06/2011 09:26

Count and Ephiny - I would never wear a "chiffon" scarf nor the silk square "air hostess" look. However, a gorgeously voluminous cotton scarf can look fab, as can skinny cotton.

Forgot to add :

crocs
anything with logo/slogan on

KaraToytown · 18/06/2011 09:29

Halternecks
maxi dresses
those strappy summer dresses/tops with two cross over pointy bits at the front. My bust just spills out.
Bikinis
vest tops
anything strapless
anything satiny
long dangly necklaces
anything black
anything pink

A hangbag.

I was quite a tomboy in my youth / teens and although I've changed as I've matured (even wear summer dresses & heels to work / weddings etc these days Shock) a handbag is still a step too far for me, I hate them! They don't bother me on other people though. Grin

Wide-leg trousers
Sleeveless tops/dresses
Puffy sleeves things (make me look like Popeye)
Yellow
Brown
Orange
Waterfall cardies - in fact any asymmetrical hems as they just make me look weird
Maxis

Lizzylou · 18/06/2011 09:39

Uggs
Crocs
Nipple tassles

Ixia · 18/06/2011 09:49

Pale pink - makes me look ill.
Thongs - I don't need my buttocks flossing.
Anything that I wore the first time round in the 80s - jumpsuits, skinny jeans (aka drainpipes) and fluorescent colours. I was younger and slimmer then and I could carry it off, not so now.
Heels over 2", I'm 5'10" so feel too tall in higher ones and I walk like a drag queen in them.
Skirts - they always feel too high on the waist and not comfortable.

All of the above can look fine on others (except maybe fluorescents).

prolificwillybreeder · 18/06/2011 13:23

Gladiator sandals- I am not Hercules
Peg leg

Polo necks
Anything boxy or 'boyfriend' in style
Hipster jeans
Pale jeans

The above are mainly due to my hourglass, large of nork figure.

I hate them too especially paired with orrible leggings - every time I see someone wearing that particular combo I think 'Welcome to Frumpsville, population YOU'.

Anything from Primark.

dexter73 · 18/06/2011 20:40

I'm confused - is this about things we think look lovely on other people but wouldn't wear ourselves or just stuff we hate?
