New thread here!

OP posts:
LTEC · 16/06/2011 17:08

hello ... sorry, I am really rubbish at reading back more than a few posts so will just say, hope your dad is okay Ollie, hope potty training is going well for those doing it, great job on the bag red, hope you are feeling well Fleecy and hope bedtime rolls around soon wan

all 3 of my dc have had the dreaded pox in the last 2 weeks (the boys in thick of it now) and I am ever so slightly over it [understatement emoticon] Have lifted spirits somewhat with these purchases:

this maxi

this shirt to be worn a la Olivia Palermo with navy leather shorts and the RS metallic heels I wore to MOAMU

this dress which is unfortunately rather similar to this one so I guess I will return the latter ... thoughts??

and finally, this which I think is my perfect Monday top - looks more ££ than it is, the pink is cheering and the shape hides post-weekend pot belly.

Um, think that's it.... oh, and I have officially tried on every jumpsuit in the world and have officially concluded that they. do. not. suit. me. Which is a very sad conclusion to draw, all my Studio 54 dreams shattered Sad

LTEC · 16/06/2011 17:09

oh and well done on race NY!! I have been doing tabata recently, you do that too don't you?? sorry to hear about other mum, sure she was cheered by your words. Tricky one to handle!

LTEC · 16/06/2011 17:10

oh god, x-posts! sorry to hear about dd, hope she is 100% better soon

wideawakenurse · 16/06/2011 17:28

Hi LTEC. All Of them getting the pox, wow! You must be shattered. Will look at links later.

Ollie, pm me if you like, I used to be a cardiology nurse. Happy to help if I can.

mrsjuan · 16/06/2011 17:48

Oh god ny- I've just looked back at my post and seen that I not only congratulated you on your race before showing concern for your dd, but also reiterated it afterwards! Am such a loser-sorry!
I really do hope she picks up soon. Good that you're on alert though.

carciofi · 16/06/2011 18:20

LTEC, sorry about the house of pox! At least they all have it over with. Lovely links.
NY, really sorry your DD is ill again.
Wan, hope you are feeling a little better.
Ollie, the Wrap sale is rubbish, isn't it?! I had a quick look.
ABO, I read J Crew will be selling here in the autumn.
Emo, hope you are having fun. Thanks for the tip about the pink Gracie, it was another pink bag I was thinking of but still unsure about the colour and will probably go for the LK Bennett Anna.
Red, fab bag. I checked Selfridges website but it is not available at that price online, wah! I won't be able to get to the shops until all the sales are over.
Pickled, DD1 is a little bit jealous but not too bad. Unfortunately she won't even look at her grandmother as she blames her for me leaving on Sunday! It is nice having DH around. DD2 (first time I have written that) is starting to become more alert. She is a little cutie if I do say so myself.
Biscuits, thanks!
Apuski, what about going to a concert in the Royal Albert? I also like Ollie's champagne idea.
Bloss, I think the Bobbi Brown is a great gift, well, I'd love it.
Fleecy, you look gorgeous.
Hi to everyone else.
This is very shallow but I happy to report that I am out of maternity clothes, though DD1 poked me in th stomach earlier and asked if there was another baby in there so obviously won't be in a bikini any time soon. Haven't been brave enough to try the Houlihans on but the J Brand skinny jeans fit.

carciofi · 16/06/2011 18:21

Ollie, sorry about your dad. My dh had it a few years ago, brought on by stress.

carciofi · 16/06/2011 18:23

LTEC, the stripey dresses are similar but you will be back in the Sydney sun soon enough.

carciofi · 16/06/2011 18:29

Reine, thanks. Sounds like you will be making a return trip to Queen Charlotte's soon!

notyummy · 16/06/2011 18:36

Am loving that maxi (quelle surprise.... Hmm) LTEC. So beautiful...if the colourway was different I might be tempted....but would have to suggle past DH's newly installed maxi detector ('Really?! ANOTHER one..?!') I have a navy silk shirt similar in cut to that Reiss one and have worn it a lot. Looks good with TS jessies for the 70s vibe, and with a satin pencil skirt for evening. I have to admit those two dresses ARE very similar. It would probably WISER to send back the one you like least.

Hope the pox is banished soon.

Yes - tabata a killer, no? I do on crosstrainer or with sprints. Made a mistake of doing it in the middle of a run once and still had about 3 miles to get home when finished. had to walk most of it and seriously contemplated thumbing a lift....

Ollie - sorry to hear about your dad. My mum has this and it seems to be controlled with medication. She has just booked to go to India in a few months - going all over the country with my Dad, including staying in a palace in Jaipur. Not bad for 74!

Dont worry MrsJ - I do that sort of thing all the time. Frankly, with the stress of potty training, a coherent sentence is doing well!

Right, just done a killer pilates session whilst DD slumped in front of Stuart Little. Off to shower and then try on numerous shoe choices with ball frock.

notyummy · 16/06/2011 18:38

Oh and Carciofi - most impressed with your skinny jeans abilities. Amazing.

blossoming · 16/06/2011 18:47

Poor thing ltec, but great shopping. Shame about the jumpsuits. I thought they'd suit you. Maybe you haven't found 'the one' yet? I saw your post on fb about speltines, would you consider making your own and freezing? I make spelt loaves with half white, half wholegrain spelt then freeze in slices. So delicious.
Maybe dd is a bit young for potty training, a year earlier than I did ds! Nut she's having fun with her potty books, star charts etc so I'm up for it. This is because....
Looks like I'll be working ft (8.30 till 4) from September! Got a call this afternoon from the ht, quickly changed into Portia's capris, white pintuck blouse, silver cardigan, to find they've written my timetable!! Have to do a formality lesson and interview next week. Aargh!!

Go get it pickled!!

ollie, sorry to hear that. My dad had a memory test yesterday, first step in ascertaining probability of alzheimers. His mum had early onset, so I'm a bit worried that he and I may be susceptible.

Hope dd gets well soon notyummy

carciofi, already wearing skinny jeans? Amazing. That'll keep the spirits up!

OP posts:
ReineDeSaba · 16/06/2011 18:52

fleecy your legs look amazing..mine get very fat when I'm pregnant.

notyummy poor you and dd..I hope she's not feeling too miserable.

what is tabata,by the way.

ltec that maxi will look fab on you and I love the sound of your Olivia inspired outfit.

carciofi well done for getting into the j brands already..I am seriously impressed and I will have to stop reading your dd2 updates as I am getting broody bigtime Grin when I only decided very recently I was definitely maybe stopping at 2 Wink

red great price and you look very happy in the photos..a great kodak moment!

Ollie you should definitely blog..I am still waiting for Bloss to start one too.what kind of blog are you thinking of pickled ?

wan sorry you are still in the wars.

hope you've had a great day emo

I'm loving all the London date ideas for MrandMrsApuski

ReineDeSaba · 16/06/2011 18:53

Sorry about your dad ollie

ReineDeSaba · 16/06/2011 18:54

ltec if you can't rock a jumpsuit what hope is there for the rest of us! Grin

ReineDeSaba · 16/06/2011 18:56

and good luck for potty training mrsj and bloss ..I'm stressed just thinking about doing it again with dd2 though actually dd1 was straightforward.

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/06/2011 18:56

WAN - oh I love that shirt Smile Well remembered regarding my turning of the screw obsession - however friend was round last week and I was showing some purchase in my wardrobe and she commented on the number of white shirts I had (of course they're all hung together in colour coded obsessive wardrobe way) Wink

Red - fab bag - I do think the mulberry oak colour goes with everything and a good price too.

Carciofi - well done on non-maternity jeans so soon - gosh I was still in roll top yoga trousers for a good few weeks.

NY - hope DD is ok.

MrsJ - how goes potty training? Am going to do DD after our holiday as she is constantly asking to wear pants and taking her nappy off as soon as its dirty - oh yes, thats just such a minefield as you can imagine Hmm

Right - off to pilates Smile

redllamayellowllama · 16/06/2011 19:02

Carciofi there was one more there that was in perfect condition. Give them a ring maybe?

redllamayellowllama · 16/06/2011 19:15

And am Shock that you're in non-maternity jeans Carciofi. well bloody done - I was in DH's vile old shirt and leggings (had to have nipple shells on 24/7 and couldn't bear for them to ruin my clothes).

LTEC lovely to see you; sorry about your little ones, bless their hearts. Lovely, lovely links. I prefer the Reiss striped number, but with that price difference, guess you'd be wise to keep the Zara one...

Great news about the job Bloss. How's the work wardrobe looking?

Thanks for all the bag love. Have got DH on the case with spraying the leather and such like (he bloody loves polishing/spraying leather goods). Feeling like I've been a bit too spendy this week though - my Earharts just arrived too. I may be on shopping lockdown for some time.

Have to pack for this hen do which was centred around it being a sunny weekend and involved lots of beach time. Not even sure if it's worth packing the new bikini (which I nearly posted a pic of, but couldn't quite bring myself to).

AllBuggiedOut · 16/06/2011 19:29

ollie sorry about your dad, and about the expat group. You will have to find somewhere else for your sex talks Wink

LTEC didn't you have the arrogant cat jumpsuit last year? I thought I remembered you describing it as the most flatering thing you'd ever put on but maybe that was somebody else...

Well done on the job bloss.

And carciofi am hugely impressed with your jeans news Smile

wideawakenurse · 16/06/2011 19:56

NY Poor DD. Hope you both get some rest tonight and she is on the mend soon.

LTEC lovely links. Agree that both stripey dresses are similar, is the Reiss one better in terms of quality? If so, is it worth the difference? Love the other maxi though, is it the same one that Choo linked too on the maxi thread recently?

carciofi am also impressed by your jeans news - good for you! Hope things are going well for you all.

Fantastic news about the job Bloss and am impressed with your outfit pulling together at such short notice today.

Reine thank-you, I am on the mend now. Understand the broodiness feeling, have it all day, every day at the moment!

MrsJ Your talk of potty training, makes me wonder how I'll ever get DS to do it. He hates having his nappy changed, and would happily have a dirty nappy rather than having to lay down and be cleaned up and changed...Hmm

MrsCB I knew you'd like it!

mrsjuan · 16/06/2011 20:13

Phew - glad I didn't offend you NY
Red I am insanely envious of your mulberry purchase. What a good price!
Ollie Sorry to hear about your dad and that your mum is understandably worried. Does your sister live close to them?
LTEC I bow down to you for dealing with 3 lots of pox at once - at least it's over and done with now I suppose. Much prefer the Reiss dress to Zara one.
Carciofi Wow - am impressed by skinny jeans - you sound like you're doing fabulously.
Bloss That's great! Please do a stylish teacher blog and then I can shamelessly copy you!
Pickled Sounds v. exciting. I would love to go back to primary (SEN though).
Fleecy You look fantastic

Potty training has been less painful than I imagined (so far- I will not get my hopes up for an easy ride!). First day of cold turkey today and she has done 4 wees and half a poo on the potty (don't ask where the other half went). Mostly lucky catches by swiftly plonking her on it when she started but this afternoon she asked to sit on it and actually did a wee - I don't know who was more surprised! I haven't enjoyed being confined to house and garden though.
Also - has anyone seen any knickers in 9-12 or 12-18 months? I bought 18-24 and they are very baggy!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/06/2011 20:20

red What a great shopping success. The bag suits you so well and you look so thrilled (which I would be too!).

ollie Ohhh, that is so sweet of you to offer. I went to Katwijk with DD two years ago with DD for my sister's wedding two years ago and it is not that far Grin. So sorry to hear about your dad. Hope he gets good medical advice and care. So difficult to deal with situations like this if you live abroad.

pickled Wear the Agnes and you'll get that job!

LTEC Lovely, lovely links as always! I prefer the stripey Zara dress to the other one. Three sick children?! You definitely deserve a treat! Smile

notyummy Hope DD will get better soon and meds will help!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/06/2011 20:29

LTEC If you think you cannot do jumpsuits, I am not sure I'll be brave enough to wear mine for night-out with DH tomorrow!!!!

bloss Wohoo! Now you really need more clothes for your new job!

carciofi How can you get back into your skinnies so quickly!? I cannot stop looking at the FB picture of you and DD2. You are both so, so beautiful!

redllamayellowllama · 16/06/2011 20:47

Fritzi you look bloody amazing in that jumpsuit and let no-one tell you otherwise. It must be worn tomorrow night!

Excellent news on the potty training MrsJ. WAN, DS was much the same about stagnating in his own filth and potty-trained really easily at 2.3. Something just switched.

Am feeling some real bag-smuggery. Is this the beginning of a slippery slide into luxury handbag dependency?
