Have got over my hot and botheredness at postal costs after lovely chat with friends. Really stops me buying more online tho - esp if they dont deliver here and I have to pay postage costs 3 times as I use my sis as a middle man!

Was half hoping this dress was going to be in the Reiss sale - but its not. here.

Vin lovely to see you back. Did I understand right that you are in hospital - hope all ok???

blossoming · 27/06/2011 15:06

Just picked up ds' bike from the shop I took it to repair a puncture this morning. £3! Bargain!

Hello All.

Just popping in go say hello. Hate to ignore all the posts, but have had a bit of a disaster here. DH has been taken into hospital, some of you might remember he had spinal surgery a few months ago. Well yesterday his disc collapsed and we ended up calling an ambulance for him.

And then today the nursery have rang go say DS has the runs, so am leaving work early to collect him, having only got there at 10am from doing the drop off.

Hope to be back soon, enjoy the sun.

OllieinOrange · 27/06/2011 15:18

Oh WAN - you poor thing. Hope the hospital can make DH more comfortable Sounds v painful. Big hugs to you x

mrsjuan · 27/06/2011 15:21

Oh no WAN- how awful. Hope they are both ok. Any idea how long dh will be in for? Have you got any family or friends to help out?

blossoming · 27/06/2011 15:46

Really sorry to hear that wan. hope you have some family support.

OP posts:
Emo76 · 27/06/2011 15:52

oh WAN so sorry for you all

wideawakenurse · 27/06/2011 15:53

Thank you all so much for your kind words.

Actually, the main reason I am so upset is that my parents would not come over ad look after DS for me yesterday, as they were, "worried about the traffic"Hmm. Then my mother managed to make me feel guilty for being a bit short with her. Luckily one of our lovely NCT friends took DS to her parents for the afternoon to a family BBQ. Am pee'ed off though that DS spent the afternoon with mostly strangers when his own grandparents could have helped. Angry

Am also gutted that we should have been tttc'ing yesterday as I think I was laying an egg. Needless to say that was not an option last night. Smile

wideawakenurse · 27/06/2011 15:55

And can you believe the minute I get a new trench and boots, there's a heat wave!

Sorry for the typos.

blossoming · 27/06/2011 16:12

Oh wan Sad. We're here for you for online support anyway.

vinestein · 27/06/2011 16:24

Oh wan so sorry to hear all that. Hope dh is okay. Still in hosp here but nothing serious, have almost caught up with thread! Found some pretty dresses and butterfly necklace on oliverbonas, and a gorgeous green silk dress for roary possibly on outnet by alldressedup. Sorry dont know how to link!
I cant remember how close you are wan but if near me Im off work tomorrow happy to have ds if you need me to.
Dont worry, rain coming tonight I hear so still use for the trench! Shallow, moi?

petitdonkey · 27/06/2011 16:29

WAN - crappy all 'round - so sorry. I bet you still considered how you could jump on him though Grin
I still haven't got my Jalouses and, now the weather has changed, I don't want them any more [petulant]

Ollie I considered that dress in navy but told myself I have far too many going out dresses and don't need any more - 'tis lovely though.

Clevery - I feel the Hasbeen pain! I thought that they would be the answer to my summer heels prayers but one foot cuts in and they aren't very comfy (if both were like my right foot they would be perfect - damn my fat feet!)

vinestein · 27/06/2011 16:33

Wan, is he going to need more surgery? I've been reading up on vertebrae and things like subluxation. How cool am I.not.
Hey hope he will be out v soon. Keep us updated

Red, are you still orf to bristol? I viewed some apartments at the weekend to buy in gw but not sure, think someone here wisely said dont get a mortgage if might become student again. Oo err. They were nice, i like period places but these are new though balcony has view across london. Hmm. Better not buy any more handbags ever or I shall be the old lady who lived in a bag.. im rather fiscally irresponsible!

vinestein · 27/06/2011 16:36

I would.love bright blue twill or cotton trousers, not denim. Ideas? Or mistake?

roary · 27/06/2011 17:56

Wan horrible! hope DH is better. I am always a bit surprised when family fails to assist in these situations - my mother would be there in a flash if she could but that requires a plane! But a friend of mine had a horrific miscarriage/hemorrhage delight and her MIL wouldn't reschedule her afternoon of golf to look after the other children. Seriously. All things to add to the LIst of Things I will Not Inflict on my Own Children (which of course has an appendix entitled "Bad Things I Did not Plan but Did Anyway")

We are still in complete social madness with too many engagements as we go with DH to Australia in three weeks - he starts his job, we will stay for a while, and come back here Sept-late Nov. we are getting a bit exhausted and ratty TBH. Far too much on. Wimbledon tomorrow. Bloss maxi.

Vin hi!! Would love to see green dress. Hope you are OK. what did you decide about med school?

Back to work. Rare late night in office.

roary · 27/06/2011 17:57

PS extremely nerdy colours aside to colours nerds: I did the "lipstick draping" thing the other day and found Clinique Allheart looked fab - which is apparently Bright Spring. So perhaps Clevery you are on to something.

blossoming · 27/06/2011 18:35

What is lipstick draping?

redllamayellowllama · 27/06/2011 18:49

Oh WAN, how awful. Sorry to hear of your parent's relatively negligent attitude towards it all. I've noticed my MiL does something similar - focuses so much on the minutiae of organisation that she neglects to realise that she is needed there and then and that other things can wait. She did something similar when DD was in hospital at 6 weeks. How lovely of your friends to step in.

Glad your day improved Ollie.

Bristol-bound in a matter of weeks Vin - apartments sound lovely. I've always thought the new development near MH station looks like a good buy.

Despite promising myself not to get anything for a while now (when will I learn?), I managed to purchase this stripy dress whilst I was meant to be looking for new carpets. Can one own too many stripes??!

roary · 27/06/2011 18:51

Bloss here. Incidentally Bloss, suspect you are a True Winter...in HofC I was draped as a deep blue autumn (so I can wear a lot of blue)- which sounds a lot like not an autumn. My best autumn colours are all the brights. While I had a lot of starred ones, I also had a huge number in the palette that were appallling.

redllamayellowllama · 27/06/2011 18:52

And Roary things sound exciting, if a little chaotic. Enjoy it!

notyummy · 27/06/2011 19:52

WAN - so sorry to hear your news.

Vin - g00d to hear from you!

petitdonkey · 27/06/2011 20:40

WAN - just realised my 'grin' looks awful, I really wasn't meaning to be flippant, sorry x

petitdonkey · 27/06/2011 20:47

Great link Roary - I am now dying to get mine done but not sure that I can fit it in before school holidays. I am wondering if I may be a spring as, although I suit all of the winter blues, I also love everything here. Whatever I am, if they tell me I can't wear black, I'm leaving.

PORTIA4 · 27/06/2011 21:51

Hi all. Sorry to hear your news Wan.
We have had a very traumatic evening here and had to have DD2's pony put down, so the entire family are very upset. Sometimes being a parent can be difficult, especially when you don't have all the answers.

notyummy · 27/06/2011 21:55

Oh dear - so sorry to hear about the pony.
