New thread here!

OP posts:
petitdonkey · 18/06/2011 17:22

Gracie has gone Sad I missed the MW one. Am so pleased I got the Coburn as that has sold out now too - I'm hoping that the black and beige will go with lots and I like the detachable long strap. Will still go in on Monday and muse the black Gracie.

Ollie - I like the long sleeved best and love that it's called 'soaked in luxury'!!

I popped into Whistles today and got the Kate blouse for half price!! Very pleased as I wanted it at full price but they never had it in stock. Now think that my London outfit will be that with black Joseph skinny trews, Burberry trench and a rare outing for my red 2.55. Black Edelmen shoe boots if the weather stays so rubbish (and I'm sort of hoping it will as that solves my 'walk in them all day' shoe dilemma Blush)

wideawakenurse · 18/06/2011 17:42

Petit - they had gracies in house of Fraser.

carciofi · 18/06/2011 17:49

Pickled, I showed DH the photo of the bag and he said ugh, it's very pink!

Wan, AIBU is scary! The houlis aren't long enough on me so I'd only get the wear out of them for the summer. I'd like to buy a summer dress but thinking more of autumn now and considering getting these instead of the houlis. And black Edelmans. :)

Bloss, how was lunch?

Petit, if you phone the AH store, maybe they'll hold the bag you want? I have the black Gracie and it is a great bag. Your outfit for Monday sounds fab, particularly the red 2.55!

Emo76 · 18/06/2011 17:51

petit fingers crossed you track one down, if I see any in the nude colour you will be the first to know.

I went in to the AH store on Sloane St today for a browse and couldn't see one there, was VERY tempted to get this this which is absolutely beautiful in real life and would be a fantastic work bag, with a great discount. However I have overdone it a bit recently to say the least so left empty handed and feel somewhat better for it (or do I?!)

Also picked up my courier order containing the mini watermelon alexa - I need to think about it carefully, it is a fab colour but it is, as one of you said, quite mini, and I want to be sure I will get the use out of it.

In other exciting shopping news I got DD some black leggings from H&M for her school play - can't beat their kids basics IMO, oh, and I did a supermarket shop - does that count?!

Hope you are all having good Saturdays, I am off to do the teatime/bathtime/bedtime duties and more laundry, rock and roll!

carciofi · 18/06/2011 17:52

Verity, meant to say, you are a good citizen for going for your smear test! I had to go every year in the US, I don't know why it is only every 3 years here.

petitdonkey · 18/06/2011 17:53

Tried calling AH but they won't hold sale items, will check out Harvey Nics and HoF on Monday. I think I'd like the black one anyway. Red 2.55 was my 30th birthday pressie but it doesn't get out much because a) nappies and wipes don't really fit and b) red really hasn't been in much for the past 6 years!! I like it when I am wearing black or beige but I sometimes wish I had the bag in black or beige!! Was very Envy of Christine Bleakley's!

Emo76 · 18/06/2011 17:53

PS WAN many of the AIBU threads make me laugh because they are blatantly started to set the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons by people who don't care whether others believe them to be unreasonable or not! I have strayed on to the housekeeping one before for some helpful advice though and everyone was really kind.

petitdonkey · 18/06/2011 17:54

Ooh Emo - I'll be in that store on Monday!! Lucky you living in London..... Smile

Emo76 · 18/06/2011 17:56

pps Olly I like the long sleeves

petit Gracie will find you, she will she will she will!

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2011 18:04

Carciofi, the AH bag will grow on DH, I was a bit Hmm first time I saw it but I love it now - was tempted myself.

wideawakenurse · 18/06/2011 18:29

carciofi The Current/Elliot's are great - very wise. I tried on the J-Brand Inez today, purely for research purchases. They are very thin, not worth the ££££, IMHO.

emo That AH is a lovely bag. I am going to put the cat amongst the pigeon's and say I think that it would be wiser than the watermelon. I saw it in RL today - it is very mini, which would make me think it's more an evening bag...but then is it a bit 'clunky' for an evening bag. Feel free to ignore though, please don't let me put you off, just my mere mewsing's. Smile

petit Is it worth calling Fenwicks to see if they stock AH too?

I am in a boot dilemma. I wanted to hold out for all new winter stock and get a few really good pairs. However, I have no water tight shoes at all. I had some New Look bikers from last year, but my feet were soaked though. I am hankering after the Ash Jalouse. Really need something, but I really shouldn't be spending any more money. I could order a cheap pair, but feel that I am wasting £20-30 again, like the New Look ones.

Thoughts anyone?

carciofi · 18/06/2011 18:38

Pickled, Harrods have the pink Maeve tote in stock.

Emo, I do like the Mulberry but agree with WAN.

Wan, I want those boots too. I was thinking Jalouse but wrote Edelman. Confused

carciofi · 18/06/2011 18:40

Wan, I've been trying to find them on sale, best price I can find is on question-air.com for £131, not a great discount.

wideawakenurse · 18/06/2011 18:49

I know.

What about these as a cheaper alternative? Or do they not even touch the sides?

FritziGreenEyes · 18/06/2011 18:52

Quickly popping in to say that DH and I had a great night out yesterday at lawyers' do: It was outdoor, beautifully set up, great food and champagne aplenty Smile.

The sales seem to be all about bags this year. Hope that everyone manages to snatch up their favourite!

ollie Another vote for the long sleeves. Have a great night with DH!

carciofi I think you are right: The Houlis are short on me too and I will be able to wear them only in summer or when it is cold enough to wear knee-high boots.

petit Love your London outfit!

emo If you need boots get the pair you really want. Makes more sense to invest now than buying cheapo pair which needs to be replaced in a few months time.

AntPants1 · 18/06/2011 19:56

Hello all. What a day. Am pooped.

DS under the weather. Took him to drop in clinic. Ear and throat infection. Dr said he is fighting it well so we are seeing if he can carry on with no anti biotics. Giving him lots of calpol and nurofen so he does seem a but perkier.

DDs summer school fete today. Weather has been a but challenging today. Some sunny spells but gosh some real downpours and even hail this afternoon. Anyway found the cake stall and face painting stalls so all good with DD!

Popped into Zara yesterday. Tried on sequin blazer. Am a sucker for bling! It is lovely but can I justify it? It's nit as if I live a party lifestyle!! Anyway Zara, as ever has some lovely things. Bought this scarf which is absolutely gorgeous www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2011/61146/420027/BUTTERFLY%2BSCARF. I have been wearing it all day with White T, long grey caridigan and indigo skinnies. Oh and I have to tell you about my socks. DH and I share a sock drawer. I know that's marital bliss for you. Some couples have joint bank accounts. We have a joint sock drawer. Anyhow DH has just bought a load of new ones - with coloured toes- the excitement! So I reached into the drawer and pulled on a pair ( with blue toes since you ask!) anyway they came up to me knee! Have not had knee high socks since school. As I was in a rush just pulled on rest of outfit and went out. How warm and snuggly have I been all day. Knee high socks ladies. They are the answer!

Am on the hunt for some cigarette pants. Spotted very very chic lady at work the other day wearing black cigarette pants, crisp White shirt and casmere taupe short waterfall cardigan. I jus wanted to be her!!

Have narrowed down search to these but need to try IRL.

AntPants1 · 18/06/2011 20:01

Oh and ordered this in LK Bennet sale. Fingers crossed!

www.lkbennett.com/outlet/dresses/DROLWEN892VISCOSEMIX

Also bought this trench in the Hobbs sale

www.hobbs.co.uk/index.cfm?page=1105

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2011 20:31

Wow Ants, lovely things. Some of those Hobbs coats are tempting, which one did you get?

Carciofi, was all set to buy the AH from Harrods until DS1 said it looked like a bag made from wallpaper - he has a point Grin.

Fritzi, lovely to hear that you and DH had a nice time last night.

Bloss, where are you?

Emo76 · 18/06/2011 20:58

ants your sock tale really made me smile - thank you! I like that LKB dress especially.

carciofi and WAN you have me thinking. I am embarassed to admit that part of the appeal of the mini alexa is that it is an instantly recognisable brand and I should know better than to get sucked in to that! though the colour IS great. WIll mull overnight. What I should do is return it and save up for the next AH sale in 6 months time or so!! But that white bag is so so lovely. And I do NEED one which can take A4s. Nice dilemma to have!

fritz boots? BOOTS? the A/W boot panic has not started here yet...!!

the sales seem really good this year - I think my pent up shopping mojo is hitting full force. Hobbs have some fab work dresses. annie are you hunting?!

where is vin? if you're out there, hope you are going well and come back and tell us what you are doing re uni (think of the student discounts Topshop etc!)

DH making bacon and avocado sandwiches for dinner here - then early night - baby now 8 mths old but still an early bird (fortunately a smiley one)

FritziGreenEyes · 18/06/2011 21:27

Sorry emo that was wan with the Jalouse boots Smile. Would love to have a bacon and avocado sandwich right now! Had a rocket and watercress salad and was of course hungry about an hour later. Gave into temptation and had pistacchios and also some Häagen Dasz. Lesson learnt: Should have had a proper meal in the first place. Think I will never learn.

Meant to add earlier that we have smear tests twice a year, one of which is being paid by health insurance.

ants Hope DS will soon be better and love your haul! I love knee high socks under jeans but only in winter. Cigarette pants are so chic but I think the right fit is crucial. Any chance of RL shopping and trying a few pairs on?

notyummy How is DD???

We are watching the first series of Dirty Sexy Money. Makes a pleasant change from boring German TV on Saturday. Will go to bed soon and continue with the Cazalet Chronicles. Escapist reading at its best for me!

AntPants1 · 18/06/2011 21:54

Yes fritzi am going to have to try cigarettes IRL. I think it's going to be a very difficult cut to get right.

pickled it's the Maynard mac. Forgot Hobbs website does not let you link properly!

WAN have just read back over thread. You are much braver than me to start a thread on AIBU!! respect!!!!

Have been wondering about vin as well. Especially as I used my yellow patent bag today.

As for A/W boots has anyone looked at the pied a Terre website......tempting is all I am saying!!!

www.piedaterre.com/catalogue/category.asp?r=58&g=98

OllieinOrange · 18/06/2011 22:03

Back from lovely meal with lovely DH. Went to our favourite brasserie 5 mins walk from front door and had the amazing taster menu again plus a bottle of champers (which I seem to have consumed most of Hmm!). We've decided to throw a joint 40th bday party in Oct/Nov and went on a reccy to a bar close by - has a basement for a disco and bar area for talking/nibbles etc. Perfect. You will all be invited obviously - seriously - wouldn't it be fun - a W&A disco (with a few Dutchies thrown in for entertainment!!) Will be needing the mother of all party frocks tho!

Long sleeved 'Soaked in Luxury' (its not) top it is then! DH is overly pleased you all agreed with him!

WAN am coming round to getting some ASH boots too (but I really like those Top Shop ones as well - are they old stock?). In fact have mentally started compiling A/W wish list - chunky knit of some sort and a new knee length puffa coat in charcoal or navy. Have ordered the Boden Barcelona cardi thingy as well.
Emo no advice on the bag - maybe post a pic of you modelling it if that helps????

There was a woman in the restaurant who had the most lovely sequinned top on - made me really want one! Pale pink jersey with silver sequins on - my eye kept being drawn to it over DH's shoulder. He now thinks i have a squint!

pickledsiblings · 18/06/2011 22:16

Emo, did you see the lovely watermelon coloured coat on the Ant's Hobbs link?

blossoming · 19/06/2011 06:51

Morning everyone. I am the first up, which is unusual. I have already shredded.
Woke up in a panic about my interview lesson this week. Think I will use the one I used last time now I've calmed down. I spent hours on it and gave it a lot of thought, so why not. See , the calming properties of shredding!

Very annoying I got home yesterday, and my Iphone wouldn't connect so have only just caught up.
Funny though petit, I came to the decision at lunch that when I'm earning again I am going to put money aside every month to buy a 2.55. In black! DH is hopefully buying me the Anna for my birthday as my new work bag. And in red!

I had a lovely day, although worried about one of my friends, who is normally stylish, wearing Miami golden girls type clothes and an anorak. And no no make up. There's been a scare in her family too, get thee to the smear test clinic everyone (polishing halo as am up to date!)
I felt really cool in the Agnes. Love them. They are ankle length on me carciofi, and definitely will be wearing them till October! I think you love Current Elliott, so you know how flattering they are on you, and you will be able to wear them all year.

Had a great lunch and catch up, drank too much really, for lunch Blush, but then had a cup of tea when I got home, and now I'm fine.

I indulged in some heavy stationery porn in Paperchase and got a fantastic mid year diary which I can start immediately, has pages for notes, with squares (very French), and a zip up pouch, and addresses and too amazing for words!
Lovely blouse ollie

I was really pleased to find the ring insert swimsuit in my size in White Co. I dithered and it sold out online. It really is gorgeous. Who needs a bikini anyway!

That's it from me. Weather is nice at the moment. Roast lamb today..! Yum!!
