Palazzo pants. Yay or nay?

I covet a pair of palazzo pants, but am slightly concerned that they may go horribly wrong and end up looking like pjamas.

Also, I'm not a fan of buying the 'in' thing.

Any views?

Love them. Have 2 pairs and will probably get some more. You need to wear them with a relatively fitted top or little blouse to avoid the PJ look.

otchayaniye · 03/05/2011 11:15

Yay, yay and yay.

Eternally flattering. Always have been in style. Crepe hangs wonderfully.

Pinkjenny · 03/05/2011 11:21

Have ordered the Dotty P ones, Knotty. Am far more comfortable ordering cheaper ones until I am convinced that I don't look like an idiot in them.

Oooo, let us know what you think. I totally understand what you mean about the cheaper ones...2 pairs later and I'm still looking for more. Be warned!

scotsgirl23 · 03/05/2011 12:35

What size/shape are you ladies? I like the look of palazzos but I'm not sure if I could carry them off - I'm quite obviously hourglass (big boobs, small waist, saggy post baby tummy low down that was there even before I had a baby, big hips)

I can't decide if they would nicely disguise my large thighs, or make me look like I was wearing pjs! I do tend towards wide leg trousers normally, but TBH i don't actually wear trousers that much as I find they aren't very flattering on my stomach as most of my sagginess is below the waistband.

KnottyLocks · 03/05/2011 12:39

Scots, I'm hourglass like you. I've found palazzos skim over my hips and thighs but emphasise my waist nicely. Quite forgiving in that respect. Some are fitted waistbands, some are elasticated or band at the front, elastic at the back. I tried on before buying as I wasn't sure if I'd get away with it either.

scotsgirl23 · 03/05/2011 12:47

Thanks Knotty. Planning a trip to DP later so will have a wee try on session I think. Sounds a bit wrong but I have some lovely loose flowy PJ bottoms that are really flattering on - so kind of hoping for the same from palazzos. A bit fed up of wearing skirts and dresses all the time, jeans and I just findamentally do not get on...I need something different!

KnottyLocks · 03/05/2011 12:56

Ahhhhh, don't get me started on shopping for jeans. I look 2 sizes bigger in those buggering denim bastards.

Palazzos - the way forward Grin. Good luck.

Pinkjenny · 11/05/2011 14:53

Knotty - my palazzo pants arrived. I love them. Love, love, love.

I just received a pair of the black asos jersey palazzos and they are also lovely - seriously tempted to order a lighter coloured pair for holiday.

Pinkjenny · 11/05/2011 15:21

Link, please. I am now an addict.

these in black. They're heavy enough that they hang very well and manage to cover my supersize bum!

Pinkjenny · 11/05/2011 15:26

Lovely, I do like the mink ones too.

I have the chiffon Asos ones and love them

scotsgirl23 · 11/05/2011 15:34

I too am tempted by them - or even the white, I suspect they will be a lot nice to wear than linen trousers. And being £25 doesn't help me resist, cheap things are hard to resist!

Maiasaurus · 11/05/2011 16:02

20% off at asos with the code ASOSLOOK until 16th May.

scotsgirl23 · 11/05/2011 16:08

My husband says..."damn you she has enough clothes"

I say - cheers, that saving will cover the upgraded delivery to get them here in time for my holiday!

3timesalady · 11/05/2011 18:03

LOVE the asos ones

Can you link the Dotty P ones please PinkJenny?

Pinkjenny · 12/05/2011 10:21

here you go

FebreezeYourJeans · 12/05/2011 10:51

But with what top? Hate all the tops they have teamed the asos pants with.
So, if you are an hour glass, what are you wearing on top whilst you're swishing around in palazzo pants?

Pinkjenny · 12/05/2011 10:55

I'm wearing a ribbed navy vest with mine, thick straps. And lots of fake tan.

OP posts:
FebreezeYourJeans · 12/05/2011 10:57

How long is it? DOes it just meet the waistband or does it come over the top of the trousers?

We're not tucking in are we Shock

FebreezeYourJeans · 12/05/2011 11:00

I like this styling
But I am not that elegant Sad

scotsgirl23 · 12/05/2011 11:03

I am going for shortish tops that just meet/come over the waistband but are fairly fitted. I wouldn't tuck in unless I was wearing maybe a sheer floaty top or something. I think you need to make sure that whatever you are wearing on the top half, you have a defined waist - either by tucking in, fitted shape or belt.

Admittedly though I had them on when I tried on a tunic (with a tie under bust so fitted) and it actually looked fine (thought i would look like the side of a house!)

Pinkjenny · 12/05/2011 11:35

God, no, we're not tucking in Shock

I like vests that are longer in length, probably half way down my bum.
