Palazzo pants. Yay or nay?

I covet a pair of palazzo pants, but am slightly concerned that they may go horribly wrong and end up looking like pjamas.

Also, I'm not a fan of buying the 'in' thing.

Any views?

I believe that if you have a tendency to be on the, er, dumpy side, you really need to wear them with a high wedge or a heel. And ergo they need to be quite long.

I think they would hang fine shortened - but I will also be wearing them with big heels or wedges, I think with flats they would look a bit too slouchy and scruffy. I think they need to be dressed up rather than down.

I really really really want these. But would they work on my big arse hourglass shape?

I am not tall or slim. Honestly, they are worth a go. I'm starting to sound like some kind of palazzo pant pusher.

Woo hoo just ordered the bkack ones, thanks for this thread and the code. £20 bargain Smile

OTheHugeManatee · 12/05/2011 14:43

scotsgirl - you have a pair of these and are hourglass shaped, please advise me! I'm a size 14 (sometimes 12) on top but waver between 14 and 18 on the bottom depending on the cut.

Should I get size 16 for these?

igggi · 12/05/2011 14:44

I have just bought them. I didn't even know what they were till I clicked on this thread. You are bad people.

Pinkjenny · 12/05/2011 14:45

We may be bad, but we look fabulous.

manatee - i am all over the places with sizing - trousers are my nemesis and I hardly ever wear them as a result! I have just bought a pair of wideleg jeans from debenhams which I bought in a 16, and Oasis Jeans in a 16 (the scarlet ones) also fitted ok. New look or dorothy perkins normal trousers I need a 16 for the hip, which then bags off my waist!

I went for the 14 - and honestly they are totally and utterly fine. For me it's my thighs that are the biggest problems and the thighs on the Asos ones are massively wide.

It actually sounds like we're probably similar sizes - dresses I'm a 12-14 pretty constantly but trousers, yeuk.

inthesticks · 12/05/2011 14:57

I have a confession.
I wore these in the late 70s and I still had a pair in the loft. They were always flattering as I am pear shaped.
I tried a pair on last week in a flowery pattern and the fit was great, sadly there was no escaping the curtain comparison. I got the old ones out. They are a pale blue and white stripe and still fit......

OTheHugeManatee · 12/05/2011 15:01

Right. I'm doing it.

RockChick1984 · 12/05/2011 15:06

Does anyone know Where I might find some of these in a 34in leg? I love them but am just too tall for the dp ones :(

Pinkjenny · 12/05/2011 15:22

Am frantically looking for you, RockChick.

Once I find a measuring tape I'll check the inside leg on the asos ones, as I think the online information is wrong. I had a 4inch wedge on and they wee only an inch of the floor - I'm 5'6 but quite long legged.

CMOTdibbler · 12/05/2011 15:34

My asos ones are v long - I'm a 33 inside leg, and they were on the floor when I was wearing fitflops (so an inch of sole)

BoffinMum · 12/05/2011 15:38

They are blardy gorgeous and let ladygardens breathe at the same time.
What more could one possibly want in a fashion trend? I bought a black pair for £6 in Tesco the other day and I look like a millionaire's wife in them. And I'm well porky at the moment.

Buy monochrome ones and wear with an espadrille wedge if you are vertically challenged. The bigger you are, the more flamboyant the print you can get away with.

scotsgirl23 · 12/05/2011 15:42

My asos ones measure 31" BUT i would add about 1-2" to that for a true inside leg measurement as they seam doesn't exactly sit snugly around the lady garden area!
