spagblog · 31/10/2005 07:24

I don't wear make up much, no need since I am young and gorgeous [pmsl] plus when I do stick some slap, it makes a nice change and I get a nice response from him-indoors

last week I went on a train to London (1hr, 40 mins). The woman opposite me took the ENTIRE time doing her make up. I sorted out my conference session, a project budget and texted several people, read a chapter of my book.

She was gorgeous when she got in, absolutely stunning when she got out. But I'm laying bets her dh will have an afair before mine.

Don't wear it ever.

General concensus is that I am not a total minger.

DH hates makeup.

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 31/10/2005 09:08

pmsl at this thread. I'm with you edam wearing the feminist hat.

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 31/10/2005 09:09

1 hr 40 minutes! I used to take that long when I was about 15. Now it's more like 4 minutes.

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 31/10/2005 09:09

And this thread almost made me go and do my face (having a day at home with dp) and then I thought, NO! Cod is wrong!

CountessDracula · 31/10/2005 09:13

I often go out without make up on, in fact on work days I put it on on the train (takes approx 1 min for a bit of mascara, lip gloss, cheeky stuff.)

I do look better with make up though, I know that. I don't like wearing a lot though

jac34 · 31/10/2005 09:18

I wish I had the confidence not to wear make up.
I'm very fair, and just have no colour without it, not that I wear very much, on a normal day just some mascara(can't see my eye lashes without),and lipstick.Only takes me a few seconds to put it on, but I feel better with it, however it's mostly gone by lunch time.
I think if I had darker colouring I'd go without.

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 31/10/2005 09:20

good question actually
how long does it take to put on full make up?
I would say definitely not MORE than 2 minutes. usually 30 seconds of that hunting for a lippy, and a full minute trying to hoak out a stray facial hair bearing a close resemblance to fuse wire.

Enid · 31/10/2005 09:20

I love make up and skin care rubbish. I always wear tinted moisturiser and lippy otherwise I thikn I look terrible. Even dh agrees I look better with mascara on.

But if I have had a nice hairdo and its summer sometimes I dont bother (still HAVE to wear something on lips though even if just gloss)

I think blonde people with light coloured eyes look ill without mascara. A friend of ours hardly ever wears it and it makes her look like she has been crying

munz · 31/10/2005 10:11

Hey I don't wear it - mainly cos I can't be arsed to take it off! I wear it to go out with - but tbh I don't dress up/put slap on just to go to the shops - after all i'm not gonna meet brad pitt there!

I prefer oh natural when I do wear make up - mine lasts for bloody years

NomDePlume · 31/10/2005 10:19

I don't wear make up and so far people have managed to keep their dinner down ...

I find it a bit weird that people who are 'proud' to not wear make up are somehow held up as a bit misguided and somehow less sexy or feminine. What utter crappola. Wearing a slick of mascara does not turn you from a dowdy, a-sexual no-mark into vampish sex-siren.

I don't wear make up on a daily basis for a number of reasons. a) It plays havoc with my skin. b) I honestly don't feel that I need it (I don't look ill or overtly hideous without it) . c) My self confidence isn't so low that I think I'll be judged as a woman-who-has-let-herself-go if I take DD to nursery without a face full of slap.

This is such a stupid subject. If you wanna wear make up for every waking second of the day, then fine. If you don't, don't. But the idea of being 'bashed' because of make-up choices is ridiculous.

hey guys,

i have a love hate thing with make-up, on a daily basis i dont wearit . i use moisterisor and lip balm. if its a special occassion i wear the works, love all the shimmery eyeshadows out there. My dh, claims to hate makeup, hes says what a woman is insecure if she feels the need to hide her real face, behind a mask. i like the way natalie imbruglia wears her makeup, minimal, barely there, enhancing what you gt rather than trying to compensate for what you aint got. i am 27 but people say i look like im 14, excuse me while i get off my high horse!no, seriously, nothing wrong with not wearing makeup, afterall god made you this way....however goe also made us with hairy bitss which need debuffing, so where needs must ladies!

hunkermunker · 09/11/2005 13:05
