used to wear makeup quite often, but since ds's arrival don't have time to apply OR remove it.

am totally used to it now, & putting it on feels wierd. i am only 24 tho (& look younger ), so it's not like i'm a washed out bag - cod!

JanH · 30/10/2005 21:41

My eyelashes have almost disappeared, edam - I told DD1 mine used to touch my eyebrows and she fainted.

hunkermunker · 30/10/2005 21:41

I think not wearing make-up is cliquey and I've found the very site to prove it

Well, I don't - but I have

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 30/10/2005 21:42

lol at Dale Winton skin
I am like that with high heels, mummylonglegs - like a bad transvestite scraping down the street, tripping over myself every 10 yards

motherinferior · 30/10/2005 21:43

I have not even contemplated high heels since I was 18, which is a very long time ago.

Look, I wear a bit of slap sometimes these days. But that is because I am a very very old person hanging desperately on to the last vestiges of their long-gone youth. I don't think I have to.

I dressed up all fancy for a wedding last summer ... meant to wear makeup but didn't. But I grew my hair out, the whole deal (ok, no heels, but I was 7 months pregnant or something). I described it as "going in drag".

frannykenstein · 30/10/2005 21:45

I wish I didn't need to wear make up. However I look like I have no eyelashed or eyebrows unless I do. I put it on every day, without fail. I would have to be ill in bed to not bother.

I did know a woman once who always, always wore full make up and her trademark was her bright red lipstick. She told me her husband had never seen her without makeup, ever. I once knocked on her door and she had not had time to put it on so we had a conversation with her covering her mouth so I could not see her naked lips!

The majority of my friends don't wear make up most of the time and they look gorgeous. When they do put make up on, they look stunning. Cows.

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 30/10/2005 21:46

yes my dh always says I look better without make up.
granted he usually says this when he is In The Mood For Love, but I am sure that is pure co-incidence.

edam · 30/10/2005 21:46

That's why I don't go swimming - can't be bothered to faff around trimming my bush merely to spare the blushes of people at swimming pools. Since when did it become compulsory to have a Brazilian/whatever? (Actually I can't swim but wouldn't go anyway if it was a requirement to trim your bits. Misogynistic rubbish.)

I wear make-up because people see my face. Don't bother to shave my legs unless I'm wearing a skirt and don't do Brazilian because that is never on display.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/10/2005 21:47

franny, I think the whole "my DH has never seen me without makeup" thing is pretty common in Canada. I've gone camping, and the bathrooms are full of women doing the shower/blow-dry/makeup thing every morning. While camping! Freaks!

iota · 30/10/2005 21:47

I had to stop wearing make-up after ds1 was born as it caused my skin to react - it was about 2 yrs before I could wear eye make-up again and even now foundation can react with my skin, so I mainly just wear eye shadow and mascara

Speaking as a (a) swimmer (b) former slapper, I can assure you that a Brazilian - or indeed any form of trimming - is not compulsory.

roosmoo · 30/10/2005 21:48

janh never imagined that would ever happen!
guess i might have to start wearing makeup again at some point then...

pruni - love buying it, for some obscure reason, but end up throwing it out (barely used), in endless pursuit of minimal living where cosmetics are kept to bare minimum! total waste huh!

QueenVictoria · 30/10/2005 21:48

Sorry - i cant think of anything more boring than discussin make up products. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.

edam · 30/10/2005 21:49

So there is hope for Hairy Marys like me? Maybe one day I'll get around to swimming lessons then. The day after I've done 1001 other things that have never got near the top of my to-do list...

I look like a transvestite in anything overtly feminine. Dresses, skirts, make-up. I get by by appealing to men who like lanky boy-ish looks and they don't tend to be keen on their boys dressing up as women.

lordy edam you should come swimming with me, I don't trim or wax and I swim every week.
and I have a bush fit to block out my neighbour's light and cause a long running boundary dispute

puff · 30/10/2005 21:52

I love make up and I love talking about it and I love buying it and I have a whole cupboard full of it and I will never tire of buying it and I don't care if it is shallow.

MrsSpoon · 30/10/2005 21:52

The woman I saw would have looked great in those boy short swimming costumes. Perhaps because I am fair skinned and dark haired but I wouldn't inflict my pubic hair unnecessarily on people.
