I'm not English, cod.

Although I am really pale, I have pink cheeks and freckles and stuff. I think I look ok.

(And anyway, I've never worn foundation etc, the tiny amounts of makeup I could ever bring myself to wear never really made a difference.)

kama, I don't think not wearing makeup is a great point of pride, I just can't be bothered and don't like the stuff. I don't think women should have to wear it. I don't think women should be obliged to go without, either.

I can't be arsed to slap it on for the 5 min walk to school.

Do spray perfume though.

Always wear it for trips to Waitrose .

My skin is much better since I stopped wearing it every day.

Pale winter skin is better the dale winton skin

NotQuiteCockney · 30/10/2005 21:35

I am PAYG, absolutely.

Seriously, if I started wearing makeup (and heels, and put product in my hair etc etc) DH probably would run off. He's freaked out enough by me cooking and knitting and all that.

HRHQoQ · 30/10/2005 21:35

I wear makeup about 3 times a year (if that - don't think I've worn it at all this year). DH met me with no makeup, proposed to me without makeup (ok I did put some on for the wedding but that was to shut everyone else up LOL), made babies with me without makeup, and still loves me 6yrs on without makeup .

Personally I can think of much better ways to spend my money

The one big problem with not generally wearing makeup is, when you try again, for a special event, you have no clue. The last time I tried, all the mascara seemed to have been replaced by super glue, so it would not come off. Ever. Gah.

We had some Canadian cousins visiting a few years back, and DS1 was really impressed by makeup. He felt both DH and I should be wearing some.

iota · 30/10/2005 21:37

I don't wear make-up if I'm going to the gym or swimming -- if your wear make-up swimming Cod, you are being anti-social and the rest of us will be swimming around in your make-up

NotQuiteCockney · 30/10/2005 21:38

Eh, I never claimed to think I was beautiful. I think I look ok. That's it.

I fear the idea that a few minutes with some paint can turn everyone beautiful.

MrsSpoon · 30/10/2005 21:38

If my DH went off and had an affair with a woman just because she wore make-up every day then I would have to conclude that he just wasn't worth it, if he is that shallow.

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 30/10/2005 21:38

absolutely right actually
not wearing make up = attention seeking behaviour
like not shaving legs >>shudder

I never wear make-up. I look like I'm in drag when I do.

I like my ivory skin, ta v much Cod, people who wear foundation darker than their skin look silly.

Am lucky enough to have naturally good skin (not as good as my 21 year old sister, though, awful to have someone showing you exactly how you've aged. Grrr). I do wear foundation but it has to be the palest ivory shade. And have dark eyelashes but use mascara to make them as long as they were when I was in my teens and 20s - why did no-one ever tell me your eyelashes get shorter with age? WTF is that all about? Or is it just me?

hunkermunker · 30/10/2005 21:39

This is what Cod looks like when she is cleaning the loo

ha ha yes I do -- so maybe people are holding their heads out of the water so they don't smudge their lippy as well as spil their hair do?

Mind you, I did see one of the Mums from the School at swimming last week who hadn't shaved/waxed below and it was all hanging out of her swimming costume, now that I would say would be a must before swimming, nevermind make-up.
