Must have been to have taken tips for that rank 'Joy of Sex' book. More like 'Joy of Being a Clarty, Mingin' Skank and Shagging Blokes or Birds Who Don't Wash Enough'.

sorry fisil...
I think it might be one of those things that happens when you have children, it just sort of falls by the wayside in the crush of other things to do.
I was never a make up queen actually, but much more like to go out "fresh faced" - would never have gone to work like that.

expatinscotland · 30/10/2005 23:01

I danced for 12 years and never had anorexia, subfertile body mass - although admittedly I wasn't TTC at 17 - or deformed feet. There are plenty who are quite healthy and who still wax their pubic region.

I don't enjoy feeling hairy. That's just me. I never have.

And some people have scant or no hair quite naturally. Like my dad. He is half Mayan and has smooth legs and arms. He doesn't even have very much facial hair and only shaves once a week w/an electric razor.

Octobernow · 30/10/2005 23:28

People whose racial make up gives them little or no body hair come from areas where the climate is warmer and those mites I mentioned do not survive long enough to cause any damage, if they exist there at all.

I don't like feeling hairy either and I do shave my legs/pits sometimes. I'm just saying it's another fashion thing where we change our body's natural status to its detriment. Like corsets or high heels.

Mytwopenceworth · 30/10/2005 23:35

if you are pretty you don't need it and if you are ugly it won't hide it, so let the world see you as the good lord made you cos painting over your eyes brown, your lips pink and smearing a red streak over your cheekbones does not make janet street porter look like katie holmes but just janet-street-coco-the-clown-porter.

QueenVictoria · 30/10/2005 23:36

Hi MTPW - where do i send my sponsorshiop money?

Mytwopenceworth · 30/10/2005 23:38

am preparing as we speak - experimenting with rip cords and various degrees of nudity.

although i have now been banned from asda.

QueenVictoria · 30/10/2005 23:44

and definitely no make up either?

Why banned?

Mytwopenceworth · 30/10/2005 23:47

erm asda ban joke - the rips cords and nudity!

assumed you were referring to my JOKE the other day about nude parachuting!)

Wordsmith · 30/10/2005 23:49

A fried of mine was vv pregnant and couldn't see to shave her ladybits. She just hazarded a guess and then asked her partner to inspect and see if it looked decent.

He said "It looks like Africa".

QueenVictoria · 30/10/2005 23:50

I was but dont remember the asda bit - its late and im probably missing it!

Mytwopenceworth · 30/10/2005 23:55

oh, there was no asda bit, i just said that now.

i dont know why, just funny mental pic for me! although, now when i try to explain it, i wonder why i found the idea of myself practising in the nude in asda even slightly funny. that's the trouble with jokes, they dont hold up under scrutiny!

and obviously i have a warped and obscure sense of humour!

i should just go to bed, shouldnt i?!

QueenVictoria · 30/10/2005 23:59

LOL MTPW!

suedonim · 31/10/2005 01:00

I like wearing makeup, it sort of makes me feel properly groomed when I wear it. Imo, most women look better for a bit of makeup, even just lippy. I did know one girl years ago who had such beautiful skin and colouring that make up looked all wrong on her, but women like that are few and far between, I reckon.

My MIL is amazing. She's 85 and wears tons of make-up. She doesn't have any eyebrows now so draws on thick black lines where she thinks they ought to be but they now sit halfway up her forehead, bless! She also ladles on the mascara, I'm surprised she can keep her eyelids up! Dh says that even when he was a boy in the 50's she used to always wear make up, most unusual in those days.

foundintranslation · 31/10/2005 02:21

what a long thread
I wear makeup about once a year, and even then only a bit of foundation and a bit of lipstick/gloss, no more. Just can't be doing with it - and (I'm with you here QoQ) can think of loads better things to spend my money on! Call me vain but I think I look fine without. (Fine, not great - I'm certainly not conventionally beautiful). I'll admit I'm lucky in having pretty good skin.
Waxing etc. - I shave my legs and armpits and use hair removal cream on my top lip, but draw the line at doing anything that hurts for the sake of 'beauty' - which means no waxing and no plucking eyebrows. I have dark hair too but eyebrow 'grooming' is just something I don't see the point of.
Right, finished feeding ds, off for beauty sleep...

NightHowl · 31/10/2005 03:35

i always, without fail, used to wear makeup. even to go to the local shop. since i had dd i cant really be bothered, unless i go out to the pub or for a meal (not often).
i know i look terrible without it. i'm so pale i look ill, i just dont really care.

this is good in one way, it means i have the confidence to go out knowing i look rubbish but bad in that i DO look rubbish 90% of the time!

Skyler · 31/10/2005 05:57

Interesting thread.
I wear blusher and touche eclat if I am leaving the house. More if it is a night out but very rarely foundation. DH never notices one way or the other.
I am just having IPL on my top lip and bikini line. Top lip so I never have to think about Jolen again and bikini line so I can start swimming regularly without worrying about Immac every time. It is my investment in me (and much cheaper where I live than in the UK). I have to pluck my eyebrows and hate it. What is threading?
I was actually shocked at how little my bikini wax hurt (but I only have the edges done). A top lip wax hurt much more IMO.

PeachyClair · 31/10/2005 07:00

Now, I love make-up: heck I have an ITEC diploma in beauty therapy!. But do I wear it every day? nlope, coz it affects my sensitive skin. Do I look like a minger? Possibly, but even if I did how would that affect dh's right to have an affair? Was a minger when he married me too!

Mind you Cod, were I a scaly one like yourself, then yes I'd wear the lot. And contacts for the fishy eyes {wink]

DaddyGhoul · 31/10/2005 07:02

dw never wears make up unless she's going out.

DaddyGhoul · 31/10/2005 07:11

well... no! was that mentioned in the thread previous? i haven't read the thread. i'm far too lazy to do that.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 31/10/2005 07:11

I have been up since 5 this morning coughing, I managed not to wake DS. No mean feat, I sound like I smoke 20 a day.

Then I found this thread and laughed out loud several times, the poor little mite appeared at the top of the stairs at 6.30 ,with his teddy under his arm, asking what I was laughing at.
