petitdonkey, I'm not sure about your Paypal question. Check your account maybe? What did you buy?

marsha, like the sound of the birthday plans. How many kids are coming?

carciofi, have you sold your DVF yet?

Well done Bloss!

Have just put our bid in for Olympics tickets! Very excited but will also be Shock if we get all the ones we have bid for - DH will pale at the cost Grin.

pickledsiblings · 30/03/2011 12:26

Stamp!

roary · 30/03/2011 12:33

Still doing visa applications. But hello all! GOod title bloss.

OllieWollieWoo · 30/03/2011 12:45

Good title thanks Bloss.
Saw the Inwear dress you linked to today - but in navy (its InWear's signature dress and they bring it out every eason in different colours). Very good quality material - thick with some stretch to it. Shame about the Boden top.

Quick trip round the shops today - lots of shirt dresses kept leaping out at me cos of all the talk on here. Saw a lovely indigo blue one but it was linen - thats asking for trouble right (even tho it was a great colour and fit!)??? What do we think?

Hope you are ok Zembo
Anniemac - I'm not keen on the boots - just that bit too high in the leg for me.

Have a night out of sorts tonight - going to a talk called "She's gonna blow" about how to keep your cool with your kids.....! Its at a posh hotel and the ticket price includes unlimited trips to the dessert buffet - I hope to do it proud!

notyummy · 30/03/2011 12:50

OWW - please take notes at that seminar and report back. I could do with the help!! Although I also think a seminar entitled 'He's gonna blow' would entirely appropriate for most fathers Wink

carciofi · 30/03/2011 12:51

PetitDonkey, I would have thought you'd need to log into your paypal account but not sure.

Bloss, not yet, someone has bid £50 with three days to go. I will be disappointed if it doesn't go for more.

Annie, I do like the boots but think you could only really wear them with leggings and minis. I like the Joules top, I had just spotted it in the catalogue. I was thinking of getting this cream top to go with my houlihans.

NY, I saw a nice Whistles maxi skirt in this week's Grazia.

A friend gave me a small bag of DD's old clothes back (about a quarter of the amount I gave her). Half of it is cheapie/stained stuff that is not even mine and I notice she kept all the Boden/White Co. She is having a baby girl in the summer as well. I can forget about getting it back now, I suppose.

There is an offer in on the house we like in Dublin, before we got a chance to get back and view it. So much for the recession!

Not feeling very well, think I have DD's sore throat.

Good luck with the visa application, Roary.

petitdonkey · 30/03/2011 13:04

Good title Bloss - wasn't sure anyone would see my message but didn't dare start a new thread!! I don't know what happened but it obviously didn't go through (I phoned them) so started again.

I was ordering another Farhi dress in the pale plaster colour - am pleased with it but think I need to try the smaller size as it's massive on top (I think it was exhausted who said it needed boobs!!) Thank goodness for the styling on MW too as it looks a bit like a dishrag when you put it on but I really like it belted.
Pickledsiblings - thanks so much for finding the See by Chloe jacket for me - I really like it and will link again as it's quite a Wise buy! here - it doesn't look great in these shots but looked lovely on My Wardrobe.
I tried it all on together and tan shoes were a bit of a contrast next to my milk bottle legs so think I will wear it with these as I already have them and a matching skinny belt. OMG - it's so rare for me to be going to an event and feeling totally happy about what I'm wearing!!

Anniemac - I like the boots but don't love. It sounds as though you are doubting them too much - I think that to pull off over knee boots you really need to be convinced yourself IYSWIM.

carciofi - Sad about the house - obviously not meant to be. Hope the sore throat doesn't get worse, I've had one child sick now for 7 weeks (with a miraculous week off in the middle when we went on holiday) and I'm bored of it now!!!

Emo76 · 30/03/2011 13:05

Hi everyone - trying to keep up here, going to wedding this weekend and still not quite sure what to wear. Just got paid though so shopping funds are available!

OOW seminar sounds awesome, I'd sit the talk out though and concentrate on the buffet ..

ants sorry you had such a shocker

bloss nice thread title

carciofi some friend - don't let her get away with it!

Lots of sales on at the moment - Banana Republic, Warehouse, think LKB have some discounts too.

blossoming · 30/03/2011 13:09

I thought it was going to be another Dutch seminar there for a minute ollie. Sounds good.
Thanks for feedback re dress.

carciofi, that's harsh on both counts. Hope you don't come down with anything.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 30/03/2011 13:11

Roary I bet that is hard work, I can only imagine. I have two passports and have been very bad at letting one slide.

Carciofi the cheek!! of your friend. Old stained hand-me-backs are not the same as a lovely bundle of Boden etc

petit love the outfit when is the big event?

Bloss 20 children I think, not loads or is it? Pretty much all his class (16) plus a few extras... But he is SO close to his classmates that he really only wants to see them. He ran up to his friend the other day to give him a hug to say goodbye. They are all best friends. Funny (and lovely) when you see your children start building worlds not so parent-centric iyswim. I mean he still needs us but have this whole other thing going on...

OllieWollieWoo · 30/03/2011 13:14

I need to make lots of notes for myself Notyummy - I find myself loosing patience with the boys far too easily at the moment! (Tho I am a bit worried that given the title (she's gonna blow), some people make be turning up thinking its a sex talk!!!!)

blossoming · 30/03/2011 13:15

I meant to add a Wink there ollie, in case you were offended! I was just thinking about your last seminar!

OP posts:
AllBuggiedOut · 30/03/2011 13:15

petit can you check your paypal account to see if the transaction is showing there?

annimac I've had over the knee boots this winter and have loved them. Mine were too tight to work tucked into jeans, but were amazing with short skirts/dresses. And I'm sure would be good with leggings too. But as to whether they will look dated next year, not sure but I think mine have another year in them. cake we need your powers of prediction please!

Thanks for jeans suggestion carciofi. Will check our kookai, thanks exhausted. Meanwhile have ordered the J Crews and will report back. Also ordered this dress and a bronze tank from Gap.

Love the leopard skirt notyummy Grin

Good luck with the visa work roary

ants glad DS is on the mend and hope you are feeling better too. So frightening Sad

carciofi sorry your friend has let you down. Do you think you could ask for the rest of the clothes? I'd be tempted to say something along the lines of "thanks for the clothes you gave me back; I remember a couple of other bits that were gifts for DD and a favourite sleepsuit (or whatever) which I think was Boden or White Company." Is it possible that she just doesn't remember who gave her what? You could offer to help her sort through things? I can't let things like that lie, though, so maybe am not the best person to offer advice here!

OllieWollieWoo · 30/03/2011 13:16

Flithy Great minds think alikeBloss!

blossoming · 30/03/2011 13:18

marsha, I had a similar amount at Ds's 6th. Did my own food but held it at sports centre and had bouncy castle etc. I wish you luck! (Never again...)

OP posts:
carciofi · 30/03/2011 13:19

PetitDonkey, you will look fab. I love the colour of the dress and jacket.

Bloss, would you mind posting the link to the InWear dress again? I've been looking back but don't see it.

I will be more careful next time and give the baby clothes to someone who really needs them.

It is too soon for us to think about moving really so for the best I suppose (brave face emoticon!).

OllieWollieWoo · 30/03/2011 13:20

ABO brilliant idea re asking for stuff back saying it was gift. I'm outraged at your friend Carciofi - that would really annoy me. I'm sure someone on a MN thread once said she had found out that her friend had ebayed the clothes she had given her without the friends DD having worn them!

blossoming · 30/03/2011 13:24

You are brave abo! I could never do that. I am so anti confrontation! So much I avoid 'lending' stuff.
However I spoke to ds's teacher today about an incident of unkind behaviour towards DS yesterday by 2 classmates. And it felt good!

OP posts:
AllBuggiedOut · 30/03/2011 13:25

I believe this is the In Wear dress carciofi

AllBuggiedOut · 30/03/2011 13:27

I also avoid it bloss, but it would eat away at me if I didn't do anything. I have grudges I have born for literally years. Not good at moving on Blush

When I was having DS1, one of my friend lent me loads of stuff and put her name in it with laundry pen. Very sensible I thought!

OllieWollieWoo · 30/03/2011 13:35

Thats the one ABO - and these are the colours currently instore midnight blue is v nice Good wedding dress Emo?
They also have a version with sleeves here

Right - I really must fold a ton of washing instead of MNing!

blossoming · 30/03/2011 13:38

Yes, that was the dress. It looked a lovely emerald colour in an article on colour blocking in Heat magazine.

When my sister was pregnant last time she came round and basically said, 'well, show me all your maternity clothes then'!
I lent her some stuff, but thinking at the time, I'm never going to see these again. Then when I got pregnant I did ask her about one top in particular, which she did give back to me. Although it did smell of patchouli.
Now she wants to dress her DS in hand me downs. Her 2nd son was dressed entirely in her friend's DS's old clothes, and she wants all of my DS's clothes for her DS3. Even though she mocks me for looking after stuff and buying M&S. It does get to me. Last time (and her DS3 is now 2.5 but will wear age 3-4 quite easily) I told her, this was the last of it. Sometimes she offers something in return, but not often. But that's my DSis. All take.
carciofi's post must have just hit a nerve!

OP posts:
pickledsiblings · 30/03/2011 13:46

petit, outfit will be fab with those shoes

OWW, that seminar title is a hoot Grin

Marsha, Bloss would you believe I have never done the big birthday party thing. The idea of so many toys/pressies scares me. We just do a small birthday tea and a family trip out. DS2's birthday is tomorrow and we shall have birthday cake and hot chocolate for breakfast plus balloons and the opening of gifts, he and I will spend the day preparing treats for us all to eat when DS and DD come home from school and then it's out for dinner to a local curry house.
