New thread..

Linkies please MilliO!

I was starting to despair for SS11 but literally today I've fallen in love with a whole heap of lovelies... I may go link-crazy if my iPad will allow me later.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 21:23

Ooh sounding good now. Links yes to the good stuff Grin

traceybath · 08/02/2011 21:27

Nice trousers kildare.

I've got these on order.

And am of course currently watching Gypsy Weddings.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 21:30

I like those too Kildare and Ooooh I think you could do a playsuit. But I wish that was a pic with a model in it to see how it looks on a bod.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 21:30

Oh and great leopard shoes TraceyB!

traceybath · 08/02/2011 21:31

I hope they fit my munchkin feet! As there the nearest I can do to ballet flats.

Bloss - your mother sounds like my mother Smile

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 21:32

Marsha you will already know this as you are Liberty Royalty (how does that work BTW?) but for us plebs here is a voucher for £30 off a £150 spend.

VerityBrulee · 08/02/2011 21:34

Good taste Millionaire!

Bloss dh has redeemed himself as we are not now going on the MIL weekender We are pleading poverty! Thank God there is a bright side to new regime of pay cuts and tax rises Grin My mum is the quintessential negative thinker, it can be very wearing, I tend to let it all go in one ear and out the other, otherwise I'd be in despair.

Kildare I saw these in pink in Zara, I was considering them for my colour blocking look, but dd, age 6 and a pink princess if ever there was one said "I think they are a bit too pink mummy"! I think she's probably right. Like those skinny black ones

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 21:34

Tracey I have some v similar Sam Edelmans from last year, the extra inch on the heel doess not go amiss here!

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 21:37

Liberty Royalty! HUH! you know what after that blinking hot day where I trudged in with bambino. Hot and crumpled. Imagining I was going to see HoM but saw nairy a sign of her, there has been nowt!

No free parking, coffee, 10% off whenever I want....

I wondered if the young customer relations guy I saw went out on a limb, made it all up then lost his job Grin. Well not grin about losing his job of course.

But not much happened I should email and see what the dealio is.

So yes will use that £30 do da.

Need to get hair done to at Aveda while I'm at it.

blossoming · 08/02/2011 21:38

ollie, I always put a buy it now option and think what would be the least I would accept for the item before putting a starting price. I send everything in tough plastic mail bags I buy in the post office.

loobylu3 · 08/02/2011 21:44

Quick update on the brora tea dress which I ordered the other day.
It is quite pretty. The fit was okay- not v flattering but not awful. However, I had a real battle trying to take it off and that is one of my pet hates- (I like things that are easy to slip on/ off) so it is going back.

If anyone does happen to spot a pretty, comfortable tea dress/ Summer dress do let me know! I'm after the sort of thing that is easy to wear and v flattering too.

MM- the orange DP dress is nice so might try it if I go near a store :)

milli- I saw the scarf you are describing in The Gap the other day and it is v pretty but not right for my colouring.

carciofi*- meet up sounds fun. I'm v jealous of all you London ladies!

ollie- I've only just started selling on ebay so probably not the best person to ask. As far a I can see, starting at a low figure gets buyers more excited. If it is something expensive you can put a reserve.
I have wrapped in bubble wrap and a white plastic envelope from the PO.

blossoming · 08/02/2011 21:52

Oh what a relief verity.
Those shoes look promising tracey.

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2011 22:02

Ta for the advice re plastic envelopes - will go and see if the PO over here stocks them - if not I will add them to the growing list of things my sister has to bring over!

Whilst on the DP website earlier, I saw these black cigarette trousers which are just the sort of thing I have been looking for. Wonder how they are in RL?here

Off to bed now - night all.

VerityBrulee · 08/02/2011 22:15

You can say that again Bloss, it would have sent me over the edge. I'll have to be careful what I wear when I meet the ILs though, nothing too expensive looking! Dhs brother, who is organising it, is furious, blaming me because we're not going. I can't stand him anyway, so I couldn't care less. Happy Families Grin

Those shoes were made for you Tracey

Nice trousers OWW, very Audrey Smile

Fritzi I hope you had a good day today, and you're enjoying the apres-ski!

Better go to bed. I love Wednesdays, I have painting at college, I was really daunted by the idea at first as I hadn't picked up a paintbrush since I was at school, but it is a lovely way to spend a morning. Good night!

GeorginaWorsley · 08/02/2011 22:51

OWW I have seen those trousers and they look great IRL.
DP do a camel/tan pair also.
Have seen a great day dress from French Connection in John Lewis.

Zembo · 09/02/2011 07:16

Verity your morning of painting sounds like bliss!

Looby shame about the Brora dress, I find their dresses are cut really small. I find their size 8 silk dresses hard to get off too and I'm normally a 6-8.

Yesterday I finally took delivery of a few bits from the my wardrobe sale:

This feather necklace which is lovely

This pendant necklace which is a keeper too

and this belt which I haven't been able to try on properly due to surgical stomach! Think it might be a tad big for me though. All pretty bargainous though with the extra 20% ooff code.

Have friends visiting everyday now which is very mood-enhancing.

Have a good day everyone Smile

Zembo · 09/02/2011 07:16

Very pretty dress georgina

OllieWollieWoo · 09/02/2011 07:40

Morning.

GW oh great, I hope they come back in stock in my size then - even tho they seem to have changed the name of the trousers overnight from cigerette to 7/8's!!!. I like these sateen ones too - are they the ones you meant?here

I have a question tho - whats the difference between a 7/8's and a cigarette style of trouser? And whilst we are on the topic - whats a paperbag style? Is it more or less the same as a peg leg? I'm getting so confused!

There are lots of satchel bags about at the mo. I quite like them.

blossoming · 09/02/2011 08:26

Morning all!
ollie, I saw the Alexa in rl the other week and think it may be worth saving for.
Glad you're feeling better zembo.
Painting sounds bliss verity.

petitdonkey · 09/02/2011 08:35

Morning Ladies,

I went into French Connection the other day and was really impressed. They had changed their entire store layout and I really loved the look - the service was excellent too, do we think they've been watching Mary??!
I now feel like I have a bit of a spring Capsule wardrobe (The Holy Grail!!) as I was quite mindful of things going together. Some of my recent purchases;

easy blouse for daytime will go with my Uniqlo skinny cargos or chinos
this but in a blue/camel colourway
this in grey (Ignoring the thread about waterfall cardigans being no-no's!!)

Also have a couple of nice reiss t-shirts and have ordered Nude peep-toe Hasbeens. Combined with my fabola Uniqlo jeans I think I am quite set. Now if only I could get WIT's Cos t-shirt I would be very happy!!

(Am trying to forget that this feeling will disappear as soon as summer hits and I have no idea what to wear!!)

Thanks W&A ladies - your inspiration has been invaluable x

notyummy · 09/02/2011 08:37

Morning all!

Zembo - I love that feather necklace, really pretty! And GW - that FC dress is gorgeous. Ooh - I like the idea of playsuits, but remember clearly wearing them at 18/19 when they were previously fasionable and have a fear that perhaps 20 years on I couldn't carry one off...? Would have to try. I had a black and white polka dot one from Miss Selfridges that I loved in 1991!!

Milli - I am with you on the Day by Marlene Birger stuff. Saw some in a couple of glossies recently. Quite expensive, but not utterly unaffordable high end designer (Stella McCartney with her £600 cardie springs to mind.....) I like:

this

and this....quelle surprise. Bit of a bargain if anyone has a very big event coming up?

Also love:

this look.

and this.

petitdonkey · 09/02/2011 08:45

Now can someone suggest a Spring alternative to the Black Edelman shoe boots that I have lived in this winter?? I am cross with myself for not getting them in beige when they were in the Whistles sale.
Have ordered peep toe Hasbeens so would like a covered toe until it gets warmer.

carciofi · 09/02/2011 09:50

I really like that pink Malene Birger top. And I'd like an Alexa bag, and a Lily and and and!

Verity, I like Clara and DH likes Éabha (Ay-va though I am sure you can pronounce it!). We will see who wins. I won't really be buying Theory, I used to wear it in my NY days when I had a salary and Bloomingdales was a short stroll from the office. Good times. ;)

I like waterfall cardigans still. It depends how you wear them, right?

Feelingsensitive · 09/02/2011 10:13

Nice dress by Linea blossoming and sorry you didnt get the job. I am waiting to hear about my interview. The wait is horrid. I thought it went well btu now I keep thinking I got that wrong.

I like the zara links Anniemac. Love the spotty top and may even buy that. Not sure I would be brave enough for the skirt but it is lovely.

Millionaire - what about wedged heeled shoes. I find them very useful when its too warm for boots but too cool for sandals and alike. Will have a look in a minute.
