Right, what's everyone got in mind for SS11 then?

I'm after some high heeled, closed toe clogs for Spring, and am desperate to find some wearable, yet not frumpy, day dresses. I don't do floral, which rules out much of what I've seen so far, and also don't like to show too much flesh. Used to have a fab tie-belt jersey one in navy/white narrow stripes from Orla Kiely, but it shrunk to Barbie-size, so I had to return it. I wonder if Toast may have something...

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 14:37

Have subscribed Plum - keep it coming!

Did you see the striped number which FeelingSensitive linked to? V cute. Also Whistles is having a moment with many non-floral patterns.

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 14:40

Your blog reminded me Plum of a makeover I had done in Space NK before my wedding. Had it done in my lunch hour and had to dash to the loos before anyone saw me and give my face a good scrub. All I remember now is the aubergine lip she gave me - not good.

It nearly put me off save that I later ended up having a freebie makeover as part of a Reiss event evening by a Stila lady. I would give my arms and legs to be able to recreate what she did with my eyes and cheekbones. All the gear and no idea when it comes to makeup, that's me.

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 14:44

What do we think of this pleated skirt?

monkeysmama · 08/02/2011 14:59

I am not so keen on pleats.

This orange dress is lovely for the price and look like it'd be very flattering on.

Very unusually for me I really like this pink dress.

notyummy · 08/02/2011 15:50

Oooh - I have seen a few pleated skirts in the press that I like the look of....however, I suspect they need to be carefully styled, and the wearer to have the right physique (no hips...) to avoid looking frumpy.

MM - I have been looking at the dresses on the DP site too. They have loads of nice ones!

monkeysmama · 08/02/2011 16:11

Grin I've finally succumbed and bought the Janice in navy. I've ordered it from JL so haven't tried it yet but I was looking for a dress to wear for something this weekend and suddenly thought the navy Janice would be perfect if it looks on me like it sounds to on the rest of you. What do you wear it with? Black opaques, shoe boots? Do you wear anything on top?

MilliONaire · 08/02/2011 17:28

Hello girls, I have been following the thread eagerly but it moves SO very fast for me!

I just wanted to thank you for the pointer to the H&M breton, I bought one today (navy with white stripes) and I love it. It is nice and heavy and I like the little buttons on the cuffs. I am going to get the white with navy tomorrow now that I know it fits perfectly.

I also got a lovely scarf in Gap which looke great with it, it is navy, grey & white - has birds printed on it and a check pattern and magents coloured tassles on the ends, I love it! I have a dark indigo denim skirt being held when it comes into the store tomorrow and I am looking forward to wearing the breton & scarf with the skirt.

The only thing missing are shoes....what should I get? I started another thread about it..I love ballet pumps but they are too flat for me now, but I can't wear heels during the day. And espadrilles (my saviour in summer) are out for the moment as I need to wear opaques with them....anyone any ideas? Pretty Please?

I saw an amazing coat in Phase Eight today - a navy and white stripped reefer jacket - I have fallen in love! It doesn't seem to be on the website yet. I didn't have time to try it on today, but I will go back tomorrow and have a proper look, has anyone else seen it? It would loom tres chic with dark indigo skinnies I am thinking. Oh how I am plotting to get it Grin

Blossoming, I am so sorry you did not get that job, I was silently rooting for you. I am hoping something even better will come along for you.

Hello to everyone else, your thread is compulsive reading and viewing and I have now compiled an A&W wish list of things I want for spring/summer, you have all helped me enormously.

blossoming · 08/02/2011 17:44

notyummy, re the job: they knew who they wanted from the start. So I shall ignore my mum's: too old, too expensive, too old fashioned comment. How very dare she!
The person in charge of the teaching I do now wants a chat about distance learning through video link. And that would be purely A level Spanish. So worth considering. Just give me £200 a month for shopping.. Is it too much to ask for!
Thanks millionaire.
dolcee, I'm back in love with the Barbour cameron. I wore it with black skinnies and grey r&b ankle boots to the match. With a big red scarf and grey beret. Felt good!

lackaDaisy · 08/02/2011 17:45

I haven't caught up on the thread yet, but I just needed to come on quickly to say I got my Lottas today and I'm totally in love! Like others have said, it's slightly tight at the toes but I'm sure that's just because the leather is so new. A few outings should sort that out. And it is sooo comfy! Love, love, love Grin

Sorry to post and run...I'll be back for a proper read in the evening when things are quieter Smile

carciofi · 08/02/2011 18:29

Bloss, don't mind your mother!

Zembo, I feel fine thanks. Hope you are getting better.

It was great to meet the lovely Bunny, Reine and LTEC, and their cutie pies. I bought these scarves in both colours and a White Co outfit for the baby (got to start building her wardrobe!)

Ooh, I like the skirt, I have a similar one.

Re spring/summer, I can't really buy much at the moment (except accessories!) but buying Goldsign skinny jeans and Paige cargos as soon as the baby is born.

MilliONaire, I like the sound of the coat.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 18:34

I really like the look of that Theyskens' theory stuff too Anniemac.

I need SS shoes. And some new boots, mine are looking a bit tired.

Other than that, I am waiting to be inspired!!

I will be in Liberty in a few weeks. Hopefully something pretty and lovely will be awaiting for me Smile.

carciofi · 08/02/2011 18:55

Oh yes, I love Theysken's Theory and Comptoir, will be straight in there come June!

pickledsiblings · 08/02/2011 19:17

Evening lovely ladies, lots of nice links to SS things.

I am curious as to how that pink/orange lace number would look on you mm.

Hooray for mini meet up and cutie pie children. Glad to see that LTEC has resurfaced...come back quickly, we miss you. Did you dazzle at your 'do' last w/e?

Talking of cutie pie kids, I am in bed with 'flu-like symptoms' and my 3 have unloaded/loaded the dishwasher and put it on, put away stray toys and set the table. Oh, and practised their instruments Smile.

Can't wait for my gorgeous clog boots to arrive. Not your thing Marsha? There are lots of other lovely colours at Coggles.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2011 19:29

Pickled am not sure. I need to try on. Having trouble imagining what they would look like. Also considering Lanvin ballet flats but they would need to last.

Not long to go to moam! Wink I'm thinking HH red cashmere, P&J or something new. Random musings at this stage Grin.

Making my friends come out with me in next couple of weeks as want to wear stuff!

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2011 20:57

MM - that orange dress is lovely would look fab on someone with the right colouring. Congrats on tracking down a Janice too. I rang 3 JL's last week and then gave up! One lady told me to ring back in 2 weeks - she thought it was new stock coming in!
Milli - great sounding purchases. I like the sound of the denim skirt.

Right ebay experts - I now have a large pile of clothes (and a couple of pairs of brand new shoes from a few years ago Hmm) waiting for me to sell. I'm going to take pics, write descriptions etc and then wrap them all up so my sister can take them back to UK to post for me when the time comes. Any advice re posting stuff - do you use plastic bags/tissue paper, boxes, envelopes or plain ole' brown paper etc (Can you tell I'm a novice!)

Also - do you always give a starting price and if so, how do you come up with that? Is it worth stating a buy it now price? Would appreciate your wisdom!

It was Glee night tonight - I blubbed for the second week running - whats wrong with me?!

VerityBrulee · 08/02/2011 21:03

Marsha I'm really looking forward to a trip to Liberty in March

Pickled hope you're feeling better in the morning, I went to bed the other night convinced I was coming down with something but was fine in the morning after an early night. Your dc are so good Smile

Carciofi great to have shopping goals for the minute the baby is born! Have you decided on a name for her? Sorry to hear you are missing your mum, it must be very hard for you, I'm sure you'd love to be sharing your pregnancy and dd's moments with her Sad Your aunt sounds just like the ladies I have in mind, Blackrock mums are the worst! We used to go to a gym with lots of them, I loved earwigging on their conversations, I spent most of the time like this Shock!

Bloss the cheek of your mum, how dare she indeed! Of course that's exactly what mine would say too, tact is not her strong point. You must feel fed up knowing that they had made up their minds already. I would like a job, not too time consuming, but lucrative enough to fund a NAP habit Smile

Millionaire how about those heeled desert boots. I had a lavender suede pair from Kurt Geiger last year, good trans-seasnonal shoes as they say Wink I've seen a few in the shops recently. Navy shoe boots or ankle boots and navy opaques are what I'll probably wear with S/S stuff until the weather improves. Not as severe as black, seems more spring-like IYKWIM!

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 21:08

MilliONaire I have far too many pairs of boots but it hasn't stopped me ogling these beauties. Nice with SS skirts and dresses, no?

blossoming · 08/02/2011 21:09

Glad you had a nice time today carciofi.
What great kids pickled!
I am settling down to watch my highlight of the week: US Biggest Loser. Sad?!

KILDARE4 · 08/02/2011 21:11

Evening Ladies some great links today.

Have been perusing the Zara website and for any of the smaller ladies who like skinnies I thought that these are great.

These are a wee bit like the Jbrand Agnes and also quite cool , possibley a wiser purchaseSmile

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 21:13

Having now braved the world of shorts + tights (am currently sportng my Spiny favourites), am I ready for my first playsuit? Or will I be laughed at roundly?

blossoming · 08/02/2011 21:15

Thanks for your words of wisdom verity. No chance of getting too big for my (shoe)boots in my family! But then my mum would rather not try anything if there's a risk of failure, hence her lack of encouragement in the first place!
Is your dh behaving himself this week? I believe we're playing you in football right now!

OP posts:
TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 21:15

Bloss I love love love The Biggest Loser (US only though, they do the tears thing so well over there). Unfortunately icannotwatch ATM as stressed Eric DH is insisting on Lark Rise To Candleford. Notsure whose taste is worse!

MilliONaire · 08/02/2011 21:18

Thanks for all the suggestions girls, veritybrulee, would you believe I was just looking at wedge heeled desert boots! Must be a sign Grin

Meant to say earlier I saw the new Day by Malene Birger collection today ..OMG....so much to long for there, all I need now is to win the lotto Envy
