Bloss what do you think of the colours on on this scarf for a winter me? - its the hawthorn dogstooth one

I also ordered the long cranberry patch socks and a load of other cashmere socks, gloves and another scarf. Some of it's for friends (honest) Smile.

I did look at hasbeens/lottas and decided I'd still like the hasbeens for the extra heel height, but then found out that they're sold out in the red in my size. Will investigate further today.

Also petite ladies, are any of you considering the 70s flared trouser look with more fitted tops? I'd love to wear them with mega wedges but fear I may be too short for it.

monkeysmama · 08/02/2011 07:53

Those socks look lovely & toasty Zembo. I am going to be wearing the 70s look though I am not at all petit! I have made a few attempts recently but none of them have worked so I've ended up getting changed each time. I think the key is kick flares as opposed to flares. I have long legs but my flared jeans (for 8 years ago Grin) make me look unbalanced as they're too wide on the leg. I am going to order some MiH Marrakesh's today and see how I get on with them. (Anyone know what the sizing is line?) I think winter foot wear is a bit difficult with flares - I've found my Topshop sueded wedges work best but aren't perfect. Lottas/Hasbeens will be though I think. I love the 70s dress shapes too. I don't need to buy any as I have a wardrobe full of them already but I find the shape very flattering on those of us with larger tummies but good legs.

I ordered these blue trousers from Reiss a few weeks back thinking it'd be an easy way to do the colour thing but have decided to send them back (even though they're a size 10 which has made me Smile) Thought I'd link as they're lovely and a good price for someone a bit slimmer than me. I'd steer away from their flared jeans in the sale though.

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2011 08:36

Just been on the House of Fraser website and this dress caught my eye - dont think it has photographed v well as the purple looks blue and the black looks brown! Shame as both are not in my colour palette but may suit someone else? here

Another navy dress here which could be v flattering?

Thought this bird print top was nice but not sure if thats a throwback to my days of wearing Fat Face & White Stuff! Liked the colours tho - my wardrobe currently is a sea of grey and blue!
here

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2011 08:38

sorry - should read "is currently" - I'm turning Dutch and constructing sentences like they do! Gah!
Bloss - no mini of cream egges to find over here - unless in expat shops which charge 5 euros a packet! My sister is bringing supplies!

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2011 08:40

Oh delete what I said about the bird print top - just seen how it looks on the model and do NOT like the sleeves!
As you were!

TheAllNewOoooh · 08/02/2011 08:52

Oooohwhatifithurts, so much handbag porn in Grazia today.

carciofi · 08/02/2011 09:01

Bloss, I will be thinking of you on Thurs.

Feelingsensitive, hope the interview went well. Nothing wrong with jeans! I like the dress.

Ollie, I used to spend a fortune on Cadburys, Irish tea etc in the US. Now I have discovered Yorkshire Gold!

Ants, sorry you are having a tough time. I have been feeling upset about my mother, her tenth anniversary is coming up and the new baby and my brother's wedding make me miss her more.

Fritzi, that is sad about your dh's grandmother. She was a great age.

I am going to meet Reine and Bunny in Westfield this morning. DH has already warned me not to shop but I do have a couple of things to exchange so effectively that means it is free. :)

I like the 70s look. Comptoir have some great clothes in that trend now. My friend bought half the shop last week while I held her bag. Boo!

carciofi · 08/02/2011 09:04

MM, MIH are true to size, I think. I have a skinny pair.

Zembo · 08/02/2011 09:09

Enjoy your mini meet Carciofi, wish I lived near some A&W ladies. You made me Grin with your comment re: holding the Comptoir bags. The stuff in that shop is just gorgeous. Hope you're feeling well.

traceybath · 08/02/2011 09:45

Morning.

Zembo - I won't be doing the flared trousers look as am too small and I feel on me it just makes me look shorter really.

blossoming · 08/02/2011 10:08

zembo, I think the scarf is lovely and the perfect colour palette.

Sorry you're feeling down carciofi. Hopefully a mini meet up (very envious btw) and a browse round the shops will take your mind off things!

ooh, hope things are better this morning.

ants, sorry you've been feeling down too.

Off to look at your links now ollie. Although of course I'm not shopping till April. Or is it May?

I think flares are odd too. I think you have to find the perfect pair. Ideally tight at the thigh I think. I'm going to steer clear though as I really can't be doing in heels for every day round here. So she says...

Have a lovely meet up. Westfield intrigues me now I've heard it mentioned so many times on here, I haven't been.

The sun is shining and I am feeling ready to look at SS stuff. I have a couple of things yet to arrive which I may not keep, then I'm going to think fresh and light!

blossoming · 08/02/2011 10:17

I like the first dress you linked too ollie, but seriously, knee length? Hardly!
With the second dress, I've decided that that kind of draping round the middle adds extra pounds on me. Dd has been looking through a photo album this week and there's a photo of me in there wearing the splendid dress empire line jersey dress from last summer. It's not how I wanted to look in it.

I haven't looked at Linea before. I like this dress too

There you are...

Glad you are better Zembo. Must have been traumatic for you.

Well done on jobs NY!

Not been very avid as have been in house mode too (saying nothing though) Wink...but did venture into French Connection and spotted a lovely dark grey pretty chiffon-y blouse which I picked up (can't find link), with a beautiful silvered cuff. Good to wear with black straight leg trews and heels for dinner on Saturday.

Loved their new summer stuff too. Lots of China blue print around.

blossoming · 08/02/2011 11:21

Hi dolcee, are you celebrating valentine's day? I'm off out with dh too. Want to wear the black skinnies with a serious heel!

I like the idea of maxi dresses and skirts but I find footwear a challenge and that I look quite busty and mumsy in maxi dresses.

I'm starting to think about some of the weight I put on and now need to lose. I don't want to do anything to hurt my body iyswim and am not sure whether to think Dukan or shredding again. I have gym membership & am considering a few personal trainer sessions to get me started. Then maybe I could go one evening a week and swim at weekends with dp & dd. What would those of you in the know suggest?

Morning all. It is a beautiful day here and that has helped me feel so much better.

Bloss - Sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. It def sounds like they knew who they wanted, and i guess it is useful interview practice if nothing else. The commutte did sound potentially tiring - as a long commuter I can vouch for that.

MM - Shred is good because it is not as time consuming as some other exercise routines. Doing it everyday might be a bit much to commit too - and frankly a bit boring. Maybe 2/3 times a week plus a swim and a short run?

Zembo - Hope you are feeling better gradually.

I have been enjoying clicking on all the links. I do like some of the 7os stuff and floral things I have been seeing (some - not all!) I have a plain black maxi skirt that I have been wearing with black wedge boots, and I do intend to buy some new wedges and probably clogs to go with my flares and maxi dresses for SS.

It is so nice to be home with DD. She is mostly fine, although tires v easily and sounds like she is 90 when she tries to run anywhere. My mum and dad are coming up today so I can go to work tomorrow, and she may go back to school on Thursday depending on how she is. My mothers help just popped round for an hour to let me go for a run in the sunshine, which was a real tonic.

DolceeBanana · 08/02/2011 13:03

Bloss - its an 'alternative' valentine's supper...sort of...

How did you enjoy the rugby? dh was v spoilt...in a box no less...champers to boot, and of course v happy with the score Wink What did you wear in the end?
