Since I had children I am much better at being in two places at once.

DolceeBanana · 12/01/2011 15:05

Hate hate pink (and MCare too) Roary...although DD loves pink tutus which she normally struggles into herself, and usually with clashing non pink clothes and red wellingtons! Ahhhhh....

notyummy · 12/01/2011 15:06

Stamp

DolceeBanana · 12/01/2011 15:07

I want that lighting in my house Marsha....once you know please spill....

Oh Tracey see John Cullen lighting for all things illuminated...right, we'd better start a seprate thread on Tracey's house. Grin

fritzi - the Ecole Alsacienne is lovely if your educational aspirations for your children fully encompass culture, not just rampant materialism! The so-called "best" French schools churn out prototype future capitalists in a small spectrum of guises and the one thing they absolutely guarantee is that your child will have no imagination or creative talents whatsoever Sad. Since DD will be bilingual and biliterate (yes, yes, I will ensure she is, even if school doesn't!) by the end of primary, I rather like the idea of her doing German as her first foreign language in secondary as she should have quite a good metalinguistic basis by then (she will have also done two years of Spanish in the final years of primary). And at the Ecole Alsacienne she can do mother-tongue English as an option right through.

The reason the Ecole Alsacienne is so keen on German, and good at teaching it, is because its history and links with Alsace. And since my DP is of Alsatian extraction on both sides of his family, that would quite nice too!

I also have a little plan to send DD to boarding school in England for a year, some time during the prep school years ie when she is 11 or 12 or 13. Obviously I would miss her terribly but I think it would be brilliant for her for all sorts of reasons, not just her English. I have heard that the Dragon School in Oxford takes European DCs for one year at that age so shall investigate.

roary · 12/01/2011 15:11

Bonsoir we live right around the corner from the Dragon School....

Bonsoir · 12/01/2011 15:17

Ooh do tell me more...

macmama · 12/01/2011 15:23

Copying my post over from other thread

Lovely coat bloss you look gorgeous! Well done to your DD walking ? late walking means she will be far more sensible and mentally equipped than her peers who might have started a bit younger ? trust me DD2 (walking at 9 months) has been a bit of a nightmare with it all ? all ability and no sense!!! Lots of bruises as a result of her being in such a hurry. In a years time they will all be the same whenever they started.

looby would love to see your photos

bunny why would doctor say that? Its funny you mention it but I was just noticing last night that I still have 2 finger separation between muscles almost a year after birth it definitely makes my stomach protrude in a way I am not fond of, not sure I can do anything about it. For me it was because I had HUGE bump in both pregnancies (photo of me at 36 wks with DD2 on FB) I also get some pelvic pain which I really need to get checked out (pushing out a large baby I think). Nobody has mentioned surgery to me would like to hear what your doctor is on about. Ps LOVE the Audrey Tatou film ? will watch properly when at home but how stunning!

LTEC good luck with it all hope your day is going better.

marsha how is your little DS ? are you still feeding at night?

everything i think you are doing amazingly well and wish you the best of luck

dolcee re jeans, I have just bought a pair of Topshop skinny flares. (new but on ebay so mega cheap) and I have to say they are very cute. I am looking forward to wearing them. Have also ordered some blue goldsign flares from the US (inspired by esher) ? not sure whether they will fit though as had to take a bit of punt on the sizing. No doubt someone else on the thread may want if they don?t fit me.

Now how a lawyer who has to wear suits all the time can justify buying so many jeans (even if all of them cheap) I don?t know.

macmama · 12/01/2011 15:39

Getting confused by 2 threads

I'm more naturally an owl but can also do lark hours when needed.

Have often been known to get up at 4am to get some work done - it many ways am much more productive then than at night when I am more tired. However its very hard with DD2 as she often wakes if I get up (sharing my bed Blush )

Dh more of a lark when he is busy he likes to get up super early and be at his studio around 6am...!

LetThemEatCake · 12/01/2011 15:44

so are we here??

Confused

*bloss8 big double thumbs up for jacket.

apuski I am very sorry. Something better around the corner, I am sure

ladies, I have a small dilemma. Finally took delivery of this tank which I bought during a friday shop-in for a further 50% off. So not exxy. But

it is possibly very irritating to wear (that scarf thing!)
£30 is £30 and it blows my Jan budget after RS shoes
It requires a certain type of bra (which I do not have)

But also
great shoulder line/ back (so nice to see, even in mirror, after months of sweaters etc!)
can I really be bothered to return it?

but also
I almost 100% know that every time I went for a white tank in the morning, I would bypass this one and opt for a plain one and maybe take my own scarf if required!!

what do you think? dd took a pic so I could post it, but what are just your general opinions??

madammecholet · 12/01/2011 15:51

ollie, i got my name from the Wombles....I LOVED that programme and Madamme Cholet was always so kind...Grin

macmama · 12/01/2011 15:53

apuski just noticed your news. So sorry hope something else comes up.

I am not an employment lawyer but surely offering you a demoted position would be akin to a constructive dismissal?

and sure you have grounds for a discrimination claim...

Why don?t you post in teh legal issues section I know there used to be some employment law eagles on MN

madammecholet · 12/01/2011 15:54

LTEC I'd worry the scarf thing wouldn't wear well, however for £30 I'd keep it, if it was £185 it'd be going back. Love the back view too...:)

LetThemEatCake · 12/01/2011 15:56

LOL Roma it's hardly an issue ... dh only sees my back view of an evening as I frantically type away at the desk anyway. If I go to bed at 9 and get up at 4, I will at least have an hour to have a glass of wine and a chat with him on the nights he is home.

madammecholet · 12/01/2011 15:56

I just bought these skinnies at La Redoute under £10 sale... in the yellow...am thinking would look gorgeous in summer with Navy flats and white T?

my bargain of the day

was this a bad impulse buy?

macmama · 12/01/2011 16:07

cholet

Well for £10 you won?t need to wear them much to justify.

I have not had much luck with lareduote in past in terms of fit but they might be good. Like the idea of navy shoes rather than black.

I don?t suit yellow but if I did would wear with an animal print cardigan or even grunge up with a grey tank ? just to stop outfit being twee

macmama · 12/01/2011 16:11

sophable lovely dress

If that suits you why don?t you go for pretty blouses in a similar shape that sit loosely on the hips rather than smock tops.

dexter73 · 12/01/2011 16:11

LTEC - I'd send it back. The scarf thing would drive me bonkers. I don't like excess flappage!

dexter73 · 12/01/2011 16:12

Or is the scarf detachable?

traceybath · 12/01/2011 16:15

Apuski - bad luck on job.

LTEC - send it back - £30 is £30 and like you I know I'd reach for plain white top and a separate scarf.

LetThemEatCake · 12/01/2011 16:16

no me neither dexter (remember the dkny cozy debacle??)

it's attached by, like, a thread at the front. Argh, I'm annoyed just thinking about it. Back it goes. Will buy the Reiss gold tank instead!! Grin

LetThemEatCake · 12/01/2011 16:18

x posts tracey- done. Thank you

macmama · 12/01/2011 16:18

LTEC the Reiss tank will be gorgeous on you. Its funny as after making some UO purchases recently I came very close to linking to this for your attention but I think the Reiss one is much more luxe looking and like the racer back.

macmama · 12/01/2011 16:20

Bother UO links not working ? it was Sparkle & Fade High Shine Metallic Tank

hf128219 · 12/01/2011 16:27

Apuski Sorry about the job. Must have some grounds there I would think.

LTEC Scarf thing would drive me bonkers

My dh regularly gets up at 03.00/04.00 to write reports/do work etc. It can work - there's a lot to be said to seizing the day when your head is clear of distractions.

Bloss You look fab - great jacket and pashmina.
