notyummy Hope you get home soon! Your mother's help sounds like a real gem, how thoughtful of her. I'm sure DD will always keep that teddybear.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/01/2011 20:04

ooohwhatif: that smedley top looks gorgeous, but very fitted through the waist!

buggiedout ditto the banana republic top

macmamma maybe you're right that blouses/maybe militaryish ones might be the way to go.

I'm narrow of shoulder and hip and so fitted round the shoulder and arms is good and rib is fine too...but it all goes a bit wrong around the waistline...

KILDARE4 · 12/01/2011 20:30

Apuski Sorry to hear about your job,' hope that you manage to sort out something Smile

Carciofi Love your sofas, in fact they are a mark of great taste ! - have just taken delivery of an identical pair!!

Blossom Your jacket is fab, you look really great in it with your pashmina Smile

Sophable I too find that ruching around the waist is a great way of disguising the mummy tummy! Phase 8 often do tops with matching long drapey cardis.

PlumSykes · 12/01/2011 20:35

Bloss have sent you a pm about Figleaves

KILDARE4 · 12/01/2011 20:51

Sophable Would this top suit? or maybe this? Rick Owens seems to bring out lots of drapey numbers each season Smile

Very sexy boots by the way!

redllamayellowllama · 12/01/2011 20:54

Sophable, I am also large of chest and post-baby so feel your pain. This is the most flattering garment I currently own - it makes me feel very slim. If leopard print not your thang, maybe something in a similar cut?

PlumSykes · 12/01/2011 20:57

Took DS to get his feet measured today-how he howled!-and got his first big boy shoes. He just looks grown-up in them. And devilishly handsome, naturally. No time for proper shopping, just a quick pop then pick DD up from school trip to see pantomime. Rather them than me-even as a child the annual trip to the panto was a form of torture, and now I'd happily pay thru the nose for someone else to take my DC. I have 2 live ent hatreds-panto, and steel drum bands. Ugh!

I did manage to pick up a delish, enormous leopard scarf, in shades of olive and lime. Great for fellow autumns, and for £17. Poor gal's spring-weight LV.

Apuski, so sorry about job. Can't remember what you do, sorry, but do you have a union?

hells, you know the strapless bra? Does it feel securely in position? My F cups are a little further, er, south than they were, and I would love to be able to wear strappy tops/dresses, esp on holiday, but have never found a strapless bra that didn't end up round my waist (and also give my boobs the appearance of a sausage of fat slung across my torso. Sexy!

On which note, Soph, I find that a boat/slash neckline is very flattering to my boobs, and that a wrap-style may divide and conquer, but also makes me look awfully frumpadelic.

Roma, I went to boarding school from 7 to 17, it worked for me. I think that if your DS is the right kind of personality-and he knows he can come home if he's not happy-then it can be a great chance to do lots of things he might not exp. otherwise.

loobylu3 · 12/01/2011 20:59

carciofi- lovely sofas! Our are also v similar (LA like bloss)- same feet, etc but the arm rests curve outwards more.
A post natal doula sounds fabulous you lucky thing!

ABO- will think about having colours done but is takes a whole day I think so I can't at the moment.

ollie- my mum said no, as I thought. I really have had the whole range of excuses over the last 8 years but won't detail them on here! (I have only asked her a handful of times in an emergency and would never expect her to regularly care for the DC). She is also rather critical like your mum which makes it more annoying doesn't it!

sophable- am a bit challenged in the bust dept so probably not the best person to give advice!

CHOOGIRL · 12/01/2011 21:04

Stamp

Off to catch up on thread, but just wanted to let Sky viewers know there is a new Rachel Zoe programme on Sky at the mo.

blossoming · 12/01/2011 21:05

Thanks to everyone again for your kind comments. I guess it's a keeper then!
Go for it fritzi!
You know, being Welsh and living in Snowdonia, I really do need lots of different coats. And funnily enough the Sweaty Betty catalogue landed on my mat this morning, and I am very tempted to replace my size 14 parka from last spring with this! Although having watched the video, maybe the sleeves are a bit short! Maybe next month!

Can we talk about cashmere?

why?

SOOOO high maintenance.

I'm just not wise enough yet am I?

Love that leopard skin top but would need to try it.

Love the rick owens, but again, looks very slim through the waist.

I think I am scared of trying tops in shops...i'm so often disappointed or can't even get them over my chest!!! I need to go somewhere (where?) and try try try try.

plum EXACTLY: slash v flattering to me, and wrap superfrump.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/01/2011 21:08

bloss great jacket!!!

DolceeBanana · 12/01/2011 21:09

I'm being really naive here (maybe) but when you mention 'back size' Hells..do you mean the cumulative figure you get once you have added the two measurements (i.e. under bust and bust) together/or whatever you do, can't really remember Confused i.e. to determine your bra size...does this make any sense?

Okay, how do you measure back size?

CHOOGIRL · 12/01/2011 21:10

Scratch that.. it looks rubbish

Cake I think we have identical items for sale on ebay. How spooky is that.

PlumSykes · 12/01/2011 21:16

Jusr remembered, went to hairdresser this morn for cut and colour. As soon as I sat down he literally SCREAMED so that the entire street could hear: "I just gets whiter and whiter. Whiter and whiter every time!"

Seriously. I know I have greys, but actually, they show up so much because my hair is so dark, not because I am a grey-haired, old crone, okay?!

Have booked for more abuse in 4 weeks time. Perhaps then he'll start picking on my under-eye shadows or suggesting Botox to smooth my weary brow.

Thank goodness for tea from my new teapot.

redllamayellowllama · 12/01/2011 21:18

Just to tempt you further Soph and for anyone else interested, Warehouse have 15% off with code NEWSEASON1.

On which note, would this be a nice purchase? A huge fan of anything striped and think this is a flattering cut for me, but is buying a summery dress so early a bad move? Will it hang there, forgotten about, come May (maybe a bit optimistic, but hell, one has to dream)?

KILDARE4 · 12/01/2011 21:20

NY Hope you're home!

Would anyone mind giving me their opinion on this?

hellsbelles · 12/01/2011 21:21

Dolcee - [[http://www.figleaves.com/uk/fitting_room.asp?cat=236 this sizing guide) is pretty helpful. I am a size 30 back - which is basically under the rib cage...excluding bust.

Plum - the bra is weird and feels very very tight when you first put it on - but by golly it holds you in place (I do have gone south)

hellsbelles · 12/01/2011 21:21

oops - sizing link

blossoming · 12/01/2011 21:23

Wolf whistling at redllama's leopard top!
sophable, do you have a John Lewis near you? I find their fashion floor excellent for a whole range of designers and high street. I'm not a big fan of cashmere either. Or any excess bobbling in fact. I'm still not sure why I bought that Laura Ashley zebra dress when it mentioned bobbling specifically on the label!
Sorry you're not having much support looby. At least we can provide you online support!
dolcee, I really need to get myself measured too. Any one know how?

OP posts:
Meggles76 · 12/01/2011 21:23

Plumskyes, I feel your pain! My hairdresser recently said to me, "I jus need to keep coming up with clever ways to hide your greys as you keep getting more and more" Shock. Agree that being dark haired makes them stand out.

On a happier note, my new Orla bag arrived today. Came in a HUGE bag and, alas, DH answered the door not me. I told him it was a bargain at £50 when actually it cost £64 Blush. Does anyone else knock a few quid off when DH utters the dreaded words "is that new"??

DolceeBanana · 12/01/2011 21:24

Thanks Hells...

Bloss...I thought I was a B cup but bra's decidedly baggy...Confused

Heathcliffscathy · 12/01/2011 21:25

redllama it has a hint of the anglomanias about it.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/01/2011 21:26

kildare the ungaro is FABULOUS...but then i'm a sucker for grey...
