red I got my weights at Argos for about £10. They have large selection. Got them whilst getting my Babyliss Big Hair!!!

PlumSykes · 14/01/2011 08:26

Ants what weight of weights did you go for? Can go to Argos at the weekend!

hellsbelles · 14/01/2011 08:30

Before I go I present this little gem...no comment necessary.

Romanholiday · 14/01/2011 08:34

Morning all. Bloss can you link to the Pure jacket again?

Thinking of going to Amsterdam for the weekend - anyone know of cheap-but-nice places to stay?

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 14/01/2011 08:42

Plum I use these weights. They are really comfortable.

MarshaBrady · 14/01/2011 08:54

I have requested a returns number for the Billy Jeans Grin

I am now sure it is the right decision. They are too dressy for the day, and if I go out at night I will definitely not wear flats. I am usually not carrying heavy ds2 after all!

LetThemEatCake · 14/01/2011 08:56

I know I have the sequin mini dress so I don't need this but I like it a lot.

AntPants1 · 14/01/2011 08:58

Plum I use these ones

Am now on the "purple" one which are 1kg

So my crumpet scarf arrived. Tis lovely but has loose thread. Sigh guess I'll have to sort replacement....

hf128219 · 14/01/2011 09:00

LTEC I like the skirt. Very handy in the wardrobe for impromptu nights out.

Currently laying the table for 15 monkeys children for dd's party tomorrow.

KILDARE4 · 14/01/2011 09:05

Hells Just read that article and now feel really inadequate!

I too work full time but am lucky enough to be self employed - lucky as in I can schedule my own hours, - unlucky as in the financial responsibility for others livelyhood and the fact that the buck stops with me, so if something doesn't get done it's up to me to sort it, therefore I regularly work 6/7 days a week but with some flexibility. I find though that with having flexibiliity I end up being all things to all people; full time mum, full time wife, fulltime housekeeper, fulltime daughter full time employer!

End of rant, sorry don't know where that came from, hadn't really thought about it before! Dh spontaneously decided to do school run to-day - just as well I don't have a schedule spreadsheet or it would all be out of sync and I wouldn't know what to do next!

I too am a lark out of necessity, but I do enjoy that quiet time in the morning before anyone alse gets up Smile.

Now, will use spare time this morning to do some laundry.....

P.S I know the above sentiments are not unique to me, and that many parents who work from home probabley feel the same, my business is not home based, and am lucky enough to be able to occasionally taking refuge in my office!Smile

MarshaBrady · 14/01/2011 09:13

Meet up post then am going to forget about it for a while!

Lots of people have said they don't mind where we go.

So if you have a preference let me know this weekend, then we can book something.

Also give some thought to whether you want pay as you go or equally split £. Some will want food, some won't, others might like a cocktail, or a few can split a bottle of champers.... Could make it less stressful in terms of what each will spend.

If a private room like ltec's prob doesn't apply.

I thank you

notyummy · 14/01/2011 09:19

Morning all!

LTEC - Love that skirt. Hmm. I need some sequins and they have a 10 in. BUT - have just ordered dress with lots of sequins.

Hells - OMG. Made the mistake the reading the 'Day in the Life' bit in that Goop bollocks. That American is truly, truly barking...ensure you 'curate your social media'. Eh? WTF? And this bit really takes the biscuit...apparently ladies we should be doing the following:

'At the end of each week, I review my calendar and look at the following categories: Work: did I spend my time in the right places, right meetings, impacting the highest upside situations? Home: did I have dinner with my children at least 3 times during the week? Did I read to them at least 5 times in a seven day period? My Husband: Did we have at least one dinner on our own or with great friends? Did we find time to take a walk/run/bike ride together? Monthly: did I see my girlfriends for dinner? Daily: having a really good laugh about something!'

She applies that tortured management speak to everything...and has that (I hate to say it) American habit of inventing new mangled terminology on the spot that makes no sense to anyone but her. However she undoubtedly erans a squillion pounds and is the female equivalent of a big swinging dick on Wall Street...so what do I know?

On the weights - may be good to get a set that go up to slightly heavy weights to allow you to progress. I promise, it does NOT mean you will bulk up. You would need to be deadlifting your own body weight and drinking protein shakes...it's really hard for women. Put it this way, the ladies in the DVD are using 3kg weights, so I would have thought a set that includes a weight at that level would be good? I have a set (but old so can't link) that is 1.5kg, 3kg and 5kg. I use the 1.5kg for the cardio in level 3 and the squat and v lift in level 2 (a killer!). I use the 5kg for the squat and deadlift in level 3, and 3 kg for everything else.

HF - Hope the party goes well and Happy Birthday to your DD!

Marsha - Great work on the cunning letter code system to allow us to discuss venues on the main thread. Genius! Will condiser the options and post later.

Have now arranged a playdate for tomorrow with the mum I was angsting over last night. All good and dd delighted - so sweet.

MarshaBrady · 14/01/2011 09:21

I really am not going to read re Stella and Gywnnie.

It will make me feel a tad bad I think!

LetThemEatCake · 14/01/2011 09:23

more owls not as cheap as asos though!

hf128219 · 14/01/2011 09:26

NY You made me LOL with the big swinging dick comment! Grin

Have made note to self not to read the article. Glad you got the playdate sorted out.

I appreciate others comments about work. I admit I find it hard - sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a coronary before I've even left the house. You know that mental checklist 'Keys, phone, paperwork, bankcard - bla bla bla - oh, and daughter, and spare clean knickers for nursery' The list goes on!

PS You can never have enough sequins.

Romanholiday · 14/01/2011 09:29

Hells was much discussion on that article at book club last night. Since when did faffing around on Facebook become 'curating social media'???!!! LOL at swinging dick Grin

blossoming · 14/01/2011 09:37

Popping in to say I have worn indigo skinnies tucked into black riding boots, navy cowl neck, new grey Pure coat, and I've worn a navy pashmina to keep the colours down to 3. I'm not sure about the red pashmina. It may go back. Feel like the new girl here and very nervous.

OP posts:
OooohWhatIfItHurts · 14/01/2011 09:39

LTEC why don't you take QA during the week and I'll have it on weekends? Grin Don't worry, you'll look much better in the outfits than me - and will get to wear them! Many of mine are still languishing in my wardrobe.

marsha - thanks for including me in the PMs and for your sterling MOAM work. I won't be able to make it but am sure you will all have a whale of a time.

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 14/01/2011 09:43

PS What happens next in Single White Female?? Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 14/01/2011 09:48

Roman not much help re hotels in Amsterdam despite living over here! We stayed here last week - very small and not v luxurious but clean etc and fab location - right next to PC Hoofstraat - think Bond Street meets The Kings Road. Close to museums too. Lots of other hotels close by.

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 14/01/2011 09:54

Now worrying that the last comment (together with my lookalikey clothes) makes me sound like an internet stalker. I'm not, I'm not!

AllBuggiedOut · 14/01/2011 10:04

Love the picture of him with his wife oww but in the crouching-by-the-star shot he looks so old!

Enjoy the shopping plum. Am very envious!

ny interesting what you say about weights and bulking up, as I was considering droping to a lighter weight as I think my biceps are getting too big. Suspect exactly how your body responds is quite individual. And there is a fair amount of using your own body weight in the shred (all the push up work, lots of plank position) that for me I need to be a bit careful. I've ordered Jillian's banish fat one as I think my main problem is that there's a reasonably toned body hiding under a layer of flab Blush

Those of you new to shredding, I found the stiffness passed really quickly. Stick with it!

Is there a decent Boden code around? I am very tempted by "carciofi's* glads.

Am wondering whether to risk dying something which is 20% silk and dry clean only... Might be bonkers, but it's a pale lilac which I will never wear again (actually the frock I bought for my 30th birthday party so reluctant to get rid of it and quite chuffed that just a couple of months before my 40th it still fits well). And it would look great in navy... Marker pen anyone? Grin

Love the skirt cake. If anybody sees sequins in a good autumn colour (esp navy) please direct me to them, thanks!

notyummy · 14/01/2011 10:11

Roma - I have stayed here in Amsterdam. For a chain, it is really nicely done and striking inside. Very central for walking everywhere and we got a great deal. That was a while ago though, and I haven't checked Tripadviser etc recently.

Bonsoir · 14/01/2011 10:20

Roma - have stayed at the Memphis in Amsterdam with the three DCs and it was very comfortable, though not pleine de charme.

LetThemEatCake · 14/01/2011 10:25

just bought this on behalf of my friend's dp for her 40th next week

not my cup of tea but she will love it. Smile

And it took my m-w balance above £500 so I just got the £20 voucher for next purchase Grin Will hold off on using though!!

Bless him for asking for advice though. he dislikes his SiL so came to me .. I just got a text saying "wish you were my SiL" I have sent one back saying "I wish you were mine too!"

I'd rather have a male SiL than the female witch I am currently related to!!
