Cheers Roma, good luck with the call.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/01/2011 15:24

mrsj HH looks good but I think it looks a teeny bit baggy and you definitely don't need to hide your figure that much. Maybe it would be better a size smaller? You still look lovely though!

roma Good luck with phone call. Hate those things too...

pickledsiblings · 13/01/2011 15:26

Roman, polite, keen but not too verbose usually works for me in those kinds of situations. When are you supposed to call?

Way to go AntPants 1. I can give you a hint with links if you like - when you paste the link leave a space and write a word or two describing what it is then put square brackets around the whole lot IYKWIM.

I loved Her Fearful Symmetry too. We vote on our books (I have a spreadsheet) and I gave HFS 9/10 for credibility Grin. I really do get lost in a book.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/01/2011 15:28

Welcome morag and antpants!

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 13/01/2011 15:39

Hurrah AntPants1 - another newbie (like me)!

I started following this thread about 2 weeks after I had had DS when I was about 3 1/2 stones heavier and had dressed badly for years. It is COMPLETELY addictive and has completely revolutionised the way I look at clothes and my body. I know that an interest in clothes is, superficially, supposed to be superficial, but I credit this thread with a massive improvement to my self-esteem.

I dress so much better now (obviously nowhere close to the many proper fashionistas around here) and care about my appearance a bit too much whereas I genuinely used to look as though I had been dragged through a hedge backwards.

I'm a complete copycat and just buy everything recommended on here Blush! Including Janice, the feathers dress, the P&J sister red dress, Bloch gold shoes... must be others .

Bad for the bank balance though...

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 13/01/2011 15:40

PS AntPants can't see your links but love the avidity!

notyummy · 13/01/2011 15:53

I have just ordered this against my better judgement - because a. I am not supposed to be buying anything, and b. I think it may not be the most flattering for my figure. However it is very different for me, and I thought I would give it a whirl.

Will probably go back!

Am also giving thiss a go - looks like it could be too shiny. But at £13 I thought it was worth a go...

DolceeBanana · 13/01/2011 16:02

Lovely dress that I think would suit Helles

traceybath · 13/01/2011 16:15

Oooooh - keep meaning to say I loved that red dress that showed your pants and remember that thread Smile

Hi Antpants!

Dolcee - gorgeous dress - am sure would suit you too.

Zembo the scarf comes in these colours - the blanc coreil is the middle one. Choo has that and the purple one on hold and will decide tomorrow. Think Fritzi is also after the pink.

So I got a surprise chq in the post yesterday (council tax overpayment) so promptly ordered this and its really lovely. Good fit on me and looked good with jeans.

So that doesn't count out of my budget ok Wink

MrsJ - whats the dress like from the side? Often with that shape I find they make me look a little pregnant side-on.

Forgotten what else I was going to say . . .

Oh survey happening next Friday - taps feet impatiently.

loobylu3 · 13/01/2011 16:26

mrsJ- can I see your pics pretty please?

roary- lovely dress!

roma- forgot to say that I think you must be mistaking me for someone else :)

Like your flares carciofi. I am actually tempted by this 70s trend!

Hello ant and morag.
I totally agree that this thread is bad for your bank balance! Oooh- that's so lovely to hear that it has helped you to revamp your wardrobe and improved your self esteem!

Was trying to look at ant's Whistles links and noticed
this .

I like the colours and the print but less sure about the ruffles at the bottom. What do you think- lovely or less than lovely?

loobylu3 · 13/01/2011 16:28

Lovely scarf tracey and I like that colourway the best too!

notyummy · 13/01/2011 16:35

Choo - Meant to say that I also watch ANTM. Good thing that the blonde girl went home this week, no? I am amazed that she made it through tbh. The more cynical side of me thinks that she only made it through so we could all gawp at her appearance in a bikini, and then Tyra could send her home in the first week and get her 'healthy eating' message across. She was so obviously in denial about an eating disorder.

mrsjuan · 13/01/2011 16:37

looby - you are on my list

Tracey - I guess it could well look a bit pregnanty from the side - perhaps it's worth saving for a few months (hopefully Wink)

I have tracked down the whistles dress I tried on the other week in another outlet - they have it in my size but apparently it has a little mark on it that they are attempting to remove as I speak and should be phoning back soon so I will hopefully have an alternative to the HH should the nays outweigh the yays

FritziGreenEyes · 13/01/2011 16:40

I'm confused: Just called LV customer services again and was told that the new scarves will be available from 15th Jan in shops only. You cannot order online or via phone as it is a limited edition. choo You must be a very good customer to get two on hold Grin. I asked in our shop here and they were almost affronted that I asked to be put on a waiting list, as it is apparently "illegal"!? Let me know if you have any luck tomorrow tracey.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/01/2011 16:41

mrsj If you can't make up your mind it's probably not "the one" Wink

MarshaBrady · 13/01/2011 16:44

Ok we have some good ideas coming in now.

Will circulate when I get a few more.....

traceybath · 13/01/2011 16:47

Fritiz - Just called LV cust serv (UK) and they said its definitely available over the phone from them on sat morning.

blossoming · 13/01/2011 16:51

Welcome ants, was it 'my' Pure jacket you got?
And oooh, you got the feathers dress!!
That's made my day!
fritzi, how annoying about the scarf. Wisely put re mrsjuan's dress.
I'm feeling silly that I ordered the jeans. Straight back even if they're gorgeous. [stern emoticon].
Off to ponder wardrobe choices for teacher's training day tomorrow. My eBay sales are at £125 with 4 things finishing Saturday.

OP posts:
loobylu3 · 13/01/2011 16:57

mrsj- You are v pretty and it looks nice but not perfect. I agree that it bags around the tummy area a little and doesn't look amazing around the bust so I would say return and find something perfect!

bloss- I have listed one e bay item and am currently trying to list another (if DC will let me), having photographed several. I hope that I can make £100 or so and that someone else will enjoy them!

Does anyone have time to look at the dress I linked too?

notyummy · 13/01/2011 17:02

Looby - quite a lot going on with that dress. I think you might need to be quite tall to pull it off?

Mumsnut · 13/01/2011 17:12

Did you see this follow-on comment, Tracey:

"A little while ago I showed you the next group of Leopard Scarves from Louis Vuitton, however with this release there is a little change to the regular product.

In previous years the Leopard Scarves (etole) were a blend of cashmere and silk, the new releases will actually be Pareo's and are made completely from cotton.

This change is reflected in the price with the New Leopard Pareo's retailing for £285 v's the Etole at £475-£545 and even more for the Bond Street editions.

So what do you think? Will the change in material make you want the scarf more? or less?"

OllieWollieWoo · 13/01/2011 17:16

MrsJuan - can I see the pic too please?

Ladies, I NEED a navy coat in my life. Do I get the Bloss's Pure jacket in navy or the Karen Millen coat: here
Thinking the Pure one is more suited to my life at the moment (great with jeans for everyday) but then its nice to have a more 'formal' coat (iykwim) - that still can be worn with jeans & boots. What say you lot?

ApuskiDusky · 13/01/2011 17:19

Hey esher look - all smaller sizes still there.

carciofi · 13/01/2011 17:27

Hi AntsPants. Glad you got the scarf, I love mine.

Bloss, why are you sorry you ordered the jeans?

I was wondering why the LV scarves were cheaper.

Ollie, I love navy with denim. They are both quite different styles. The Karen Millen one will probably go on sale in the spring though, so maybe get the Pure Collection jacket first.

traceybath · 13/01/2011 17:28

Oh Mumsnut - I think you've just saved me some money.

I am not paying that much for a cotton scarf - I'd just assumed they were a lighter version.
