oh OP I'm so pleased for you !!! Hope you've managed to pay no attention to the ex, I bet he's fuming about you moving on :) leave him to the stupid mess that he has made with those kids of his and their mother and just be happy :)

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/06/2024 18:59

Great news

JH20000 · 11/06/2024 18:34

Whilst it’s all going great I am still very very nervous about opening myself up to someone new.

I feel scarred by my ex’s actions and I am worried of allowing someone new into my life. It’s just all very scary yet exciting. This is normal isn’t it?

OP posts:
NurseP · 11/06/2024 18:50

Yes very normal. Can you let new man know that you feel nervous about this? It will help him be more understanding if he has an idea.

Blinds1 · 11/06/2024 20:12

Your Ex was completely vile.
Your father sounds of the same type.
Put distance between you and him.
If he was a decent man he wouldn't be having beers with his daughters abuser.
Really wishing you well for the future, you deserve it.

HarrietStyles · 12/06/2024 09:17

Totally normal, be sure to take the new relationship at a slow pace and don’t be pressured into going faster than you are ready for. You can explain that you like to take things slow and spend time really getting to know each other, without giving all the details on your previous experiences. If he’s a good guy who has genuine feelings then he will give you all the time and space you need.

Yes I believe the same as you regarding my dad. A lot of complicated history between me and my dad but he is definitely like my ex which is probably why I ended up with someone like him.

I’ve actually just read through the first thread completely thanks to a quiet afternoon at work.

I feel nothing but annoyed that I didn’t get out earlier! I can’t believe he put me through that. I was actually shocked at some of the posts regarding his behaviour I had wrote!

HarrietStyles · 12/06/2024 14:38

Anytime you have a wobble and miss the 1% of good times from that relationship - go back and re-read your posts in that thread and you will remember what an abusive man he was. You should feel nothing but proud of yourself for getting away, it doesn’t matter how long it took X

JH20000 · 16/06/2024 11:23

FFS I received an email from him from a random email address this morning with full details of how amazing his kids are doing now. Apparently they’re all doing great without me and he is very happy his children are now away from me as they’ve flourished!

I know it’s probably BS but I’ve spent the last hour upset over this.

OP posts:
unicornhair · 16/06/2024 11:25

You know that’s bullshit. All it shows is how unhappy he is without you.
Would a happy person really spend the time doing that?

JH20000 · 16/06/2024 11:25

He really is the idiot that keeps on giving isn’t he?!

OP posts:
JH20000 · 16/06/2024 11:28

It upsets me I think because he has made out that I’m this massive monster that has been inflicted on his children’s lives but now I’m gone they’re all doing so fantastically.

i have a feeling he’s found out about the new man and has sent this to destabilise me a little.
