Weather app is saying it’s 5° but with a feels like of -5°. By the final whistle I’ll have to check what it says then! I’ve got a really good fake wool wraparound coat that goes almost to my ankles and it’s usually decently windproof as well as warm so it’s very handy at the footy LOL.

Sorry to tell you this but I am on a Carribbean cruise and we stopped in St Maarten today and it was 30 degrees and I got sun burnt.

I don’t do well in the heat either so that’s my idea of hell to be fair. 🤣 At least when I’m cold I can add another layer but when I’m too hot there’s only a certain amount of clothing I can remove before I would get arrested. 😁🤣

ETA: it got down to a feels like of -6° by full time. I did check!

It's a 35 day cruise so it will probably feel like -30 to me when we arrive back in a couple of weeks so you will have the last laugh.

Quite sheltered in my stand. The wind is coming a different way to usual which is interesting. Had my Smokie pie so I’m happy LOL.

Eating one of those pies at a match has now become one of my bucket list items.

urgh that type of temperature jump can be awful. Hopefully it will be 10° warmer here when you get back so not as extreme.

I'm quite tempted to suggest we all have a trip to visit @Tarkan and eat all the pies 😂

Would be nice to all be rooting for the same team!!

And that pie is in my dreams!!!

burblish · 24/01/2026 09:54

As lovely as Gayfield sounds in the depths of winter with the delightful fresh breeze blowing in from the North Sea, I hope @Tarkan will forgive me for being slightly more envious of @MustTryHarderAndHarder's Caribbean cruise right now! 😄 (I do take the point about the attraction of the famous Arbroath smokie pie, but I'm vegetarian so would be stuck with the chips!)

Brefugee · 24/01/2026 10:14

Right. When are we going? (need to make it a televised match, and we can sing "who ate all the pies? we ate all the pies" as loud as we can.

We don’t have chips! It’s shocking LOL. But we do get macaroni pies which I think are the only vegetarian option apart from chocolate or sweets. I do love a good macaroni pie so it would be a good choice.

Would love to welcome you all up here. I would recommend closer to the summer for the weather though haha.

burblish · 24/01/2026 12:23

@Tarkan Ooh yes, I could go for a macaroni pie! (Although I'm slightly reeling at the lack of chips - is that even legal??)

I have to say I genuinely love it when you post pics from Gayfield and talk about the atmosphere and what's happening. ❤️

Up until 3/4 years ago when I had a season ticket at the Amex they didn’t serve chips either, not sure if that has changed now. Something to do with not having the ventilation for the fryers? Was the case from when we moved there.

Brefugee · 24/01/2026 18:09

I am so sad - if rumours are true and today was Barry Bannan's last match in a Wednesday shirt. And away, at that.
Was lovely to see the reception he got, from the Bristol City players/coach too, when he was subbed out just before the end.

😭

Where is that bloody laugh emoji when you need it?? 😂

Tarkan · 24/01/2026 19:20

I only have the thanks emoji as I use the app but even I’ve been wanting the laugh emoji back recently LOL.

I’m glad people like my posts from Gayfield haha, I love our little community in this thread. I find myself rooting for everyone else’s teams (unless you’re playing one of mine of course).

Obviously I’m incredibly happy with the West Ham result from earlier. That’s two league wins in a row, three total wins in a row when you add in the FA Cup win over QPR. Feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to say that.

Decided to play the Super 6 today for the first time in ages. My predictions have not gone very well so far LOL.

Brefugee · 24/01/2026 19:48

i too love the community here. Long may it last!
A mate of mine (who went over from Germany especially) was at the West Ham match today. He said Sunderland were beyond awful. But then, no Xhaka. So.

Is this necessary? I don’t even know who Scooby supports!

But I have also said with VAR, the stupid awful way the Champions League is run that it is ruining it a bit and I am dreading a little how this World Cup will be

that I am really looking forward to the Winter Olympics and curling!

Cuwins · 25/01/2026 09:13

Absolutely gutted to loose to a last minute goal after such a stupid VAR decision yesterday

The poster was joking, they support a League 1 side who lost yesterday.

TheSleepingGiant · 25/01/2026 09:43

Lots of last minute goals yesterday, thankfully Tottenham managed one to escape another defeat 😬

Gillingham won 3-0 away to Harrogate, who, unlike Newport last week, did play like a bottom of the table side. Cheltenham away mid-week before Bromley visit us Saturday. Can't wait for that one!

True, I just remember the poster posting the same thing a few times now here in jest so thought I'd jump in to clarify they weren't pissing on the thread Smile
