Ah well, we handed you the win.

Literally! 🤣

TheNewGaard · 20/12/2025 22:12

Phew! Getting back to winning was the most important thing. That penalty was stupid to give away, but it was hit with some serious power.

I hope we rest a few for the CoCup.

burblish · 20/12/2025 22:07

Literally! 🤣

That's how I meant it Grin

Bit of help from the referee as well.

Ah well, we handed you the win.

Ha ha.

Yes, thank you very much and merry Christmas.

Awful refereeing at the Gladbach match on Friday - including a VAR decision that according to the comentators and everyone online except Dortmund fans said should have been a penalty.

Apparently TV has angles VAR doesn't. What the heck?

I need VAR to be stopped, it is just making everything worse and worse.
Wednesday lost as expected. Ho hum. (and it looks as though it is going to be Mike Ashley, so pray for us if that is your thing, please)

JasonTindallsTan · 21/12/2025 15:28

Just catching up and completely empathise with the crap refereeing @Brefugee newcastle were really really hard done to yesterday and had the penalty been awarded correctly then it would have completely changed the momentum of the game after Chelsea had got one back after a soft free kick (which was admittedly well taken). Frustrating but some really positive signs especially in that first half.

Mike Ashley will suck the soul out your club but it will be run as a viable business as all he cares about is the bottom line. So it might be marginally better than what came before him.

Nasty tackle on Isak yesterday. I may have joked about wishing nothing but terrible things on him this season but even I couldn’t have anticipated just how badly it would go for him. Whilst I stop short of wishing him all the best I kind of just pity him now. The grass ain’t always greener.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 21/12/2025 15:45

Obi is also finding out that the grass isn't always greener.

Amorim seems to have verbal diarrhoea.

Brefugee · 21/12/2025 16:18

thanks @JasonTindallsTan
I have to say, tho (much as i loathe them) that chelsea free kick was a thing of beauty

burblish · 22/12/2025 21:19

It has been confirmed that Van de Ven's tackle broke Isak's leg and he has had to have surgery. Merry Christmas, eh.

DuncinToffee · 26/12/2025 12:31

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas

Watching the Afcon today.

Watching the Afcon today.

Thanks, hope you did too.

Thanks for the reminder.

It's actually quite nice not having any PL matches during the daytime today as I was able to do some housework.

Brefugee · 26/12/2025 16:14

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Decided not to do the one hour each way walk to Hillsborough today. 1-1 at half-time do here's hoping for at least a point

burblish · 26/12/2025 22:24

@Brefugee I am glad to see Wednesday did get that point!

Thanks for the link 😊 glad Wednesday got that point in the end

burblish · 26/12/2025 22:34

Anfield will be so emotional tomorrow: Diogo Jota's sons will be among the matchday mascots for Liverpool v Wolves ❤️

Nice to see Nottm Forest will also honour one of their greats, John Robertson, by renaming the Bridgford Stand for him.

Hellohah · 26/12/2025 23:09

I too hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 🎄

The day goes so fast, I wish it was Christmas weekend or 3 days celebration was mandatory.

On the football side, glad we won today. Probably worst we've played for a few games and I've got horrendous heartburn following that second half, but happy with our 3 points all things considered.

Brefugee · 26/12/2025 23:47

thank you @burblish and @Dramatic sad to see Wednesday can't hold on to a lead, but i was fully expecting a 93rd minute winner from Hull so i'll take the point. Almost regretting not walking over to the match, but it is flipping freezing here today, and it's just over an hour each way.

TheSleepingGiant · 27/12/2025 09:27

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and those that get an extended break enjoy it.

Nice festive atmosphere at Gills yesterday, love a Boxing Day match. Sadly only managed a draw against Cambridge but it was a decent game and Neil Harris got a nice welcome back to his old club.

Brightbluesomething · 27/12/2025 11:41

Just discovered this thread! Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas. Was watching the match last night and friends who went to it (the other side) joined us afterwards. I expected more ribbing but they were just as disappointed with both team’s performances. Roll on Tuesday…..

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 27/12/2025 13:30

Hi everyone,

I've just discovered this thread too. I'm a League 1 season ticket holder, but I'll watch almost anything and I'm invested in the PL for FPL purposes. (I am shit at FPL, I had 32 points on my bench last week ffs)

Tarkan · 27/12/2025 14:28

What a match the Edinburgh derby just was. Thought DH was about to have a heart attack beside me by the end. 🙈

burblish · 27/12/2025 17:14

@Brightbluesomething @Scoobydoobydoo19 Welcome to the thread! Who do you support (@Brightbluesomething I assume Newcastle?)? Don't worry, fans of all clubs in all tiers are equally welcome to join us! (And I for one find it refreshing when non-Prem clubs are represented here.)

burblish · 27/12/2025 17:17

@Tarkan The Scottish Premiership (and cups!) are so exciting this season! I can't remember whether your DH is a Hibee or a Jam Tart, but I would love to see the title go outside the Old Firm for once.

Cuwins · 27/12/2025 17:23

I haven’t had a chance to read much about Brightons game but to be honest I expected to loose by more
