I feel we need a MN footy thread road trip for all the pies now. 🤣

I actually bought myself a macaroni pie in the local corner shop on my way home from theatre tonight as I’d just really put myself in the mood for a pie after the chat earlier and it was the best option there.

I’m just gutted the 24h bakery/pie shop close to my house opened a cafe and as a result isn’t allowed to be 24h anymore so you can’t get a late night pie on the way home now. I would have taken you all there for sure. They close at something like 8pm now which is just horrible when you’re drunk and staggering home. 🤣

Cuwins · 05/10/2025 22:55

Haven’t been to the Amex for a couple of years now (joys of parenthood) but the pies there used to be pretty good.

In a slight swerve regarding type of football-my DS has gone to see American football at Tottenham stadium through work. After being at Arsenal yesterday he is having a brilliant weekend!

We have family in America and he has just posted on our chat that the pretzels that they sell there are a huge disappointment.

DH and DS also went today, their seats were amazing.

ButterPiesAreGreat · 05/10/2025 23:32

Oh no @Tarkanthat’s terrible. There are a dwindling number of pie shops in the area. A few Bowens around (if you watched The Apprentice last year, you’ll know who I mean!) but it’s mostly local bakers now who aren’t open late. The best butter pies are by Clayton Park who are back at Deepdale now. Last year, they used a community business who recruited prisoners to make the pies and the butter pies in particular were horribly dry. Nice idea, but rubbish products.

Russell Martin finally sacked by Rangers. About fucking time. Only a draw against Falkirk today when that should have been an “easy” one.

TheSleepingGiant · 06/10/2025 08:37

Just been reading the article on BBC, his excuses 🙄

I'm hoping the new Manager can get the best out of Mikey Moore, or that Tottenham recall him. I live close to his family and he isn't happy there, with fans chanting "fuck off you cockney cunt" during games. I know he hasn't done as well as hoped (just 1 assist I believe) but that's harsh on an 18 year old

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 09:26

I saw the footage of him being bundled in the back of a car to get away from angry fans, it was clear he wouldn't last much longer.

I’m quite glad our unbeaten run is over, it was becoming a bit of an albatross around our necks when we have got a lot else to concentrate on. Nice of JG to say he thought Adam Wharton was MOTM too.

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 09:54

Wharton dictated play the first half, Pickford and Mateta kept us in the game,

We only seem to win after going behind against you Smile

TheBabyFatmoss · 06/10/2025 10:01

Mateta looks gassed 😕 Europe is taking its toll but I’m still ridiculously excited about it

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 10:06

I hope you continue to do well in both leagues, just not against us Grin

0-0 at Gladbach and i got indigestion from my fish-inna-bun so will have to rethink my matchday food strategy now (forgot: we also have slices of pizza, bretzels and another bretzel-type-thing-with-cheese-on) Cake also, iirc.

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 10:07

I love Bretzels, used to get them fresh from the bakery when I lived in Germany

TheBabyFatmoss · 06/10/2025 10:16

@DuncinToffee ditto! 😂

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 11:42

@ButterPiesAreGreat , I see Harrison Armstrong got MotM on the BBC website.

Thierry Small was at Everton before he went to Southampton, was offered a contract but I think his agent adviced him against it. Good to see he is doing well.

Tiswa · 06/10/2025 12:30

I never knew Pretezels were Bretezels in Germany!

NFL at Tottenham looks amazing Daniel Levy really did get that one right with building the stadium

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 18:19

Uefa has given its “reluctant” approval to Serie A and La Liga each playing a domestic game abroad this season

OP posts:
Brefugee · 06/10/2025 19:03

so how does that work for season ticket holders?
If Gladbach ever sign up for shit like that, I'll hand mine in

Tiswa · 06/10/2025 19:17

I think part of the problem is that NBA and NFL do travel much easier because home and away isn’t so important - you can lose a match and still be in the play off positions and I think like the champions league you don’t always play home and away anyway. Inter Miami won the supporters cup for the league position and then promptly lose the best of 3 to Atlanta

the champions league is an interesting one as I think that travels in some ways easier apart from the time issues as the home and away means less than in the league (which is a shame the return legs of Liverpool/Atletico Madrid and Chelsea/Bayern Munich would have been good!) but could soak up a neutral game for pot 1 match up much easier

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2025 19:19

Uefa claims it shouldn't set a precedent.

Yes sure

OP posts:
MrsMitford3 · 06/10/2025 19:22

NBA and NFL also play far less games than a PL team.

My worry is that with so many americans owning teams and american celebs all showing their love for their PL teams it feels we are heading into tricky times and feels almost inevitable but I desperately hope I am wrong.

It would be terrible in so many different ways!!

Tiswa · 06/10/2025 19:22

And the Serie - A is so tight home advantage matters a lot!

KnutsfordCityLimits · 06/10/2025 19:23

Brefugee · 04/10/2025 16:32

waily waily

5-0 loss to Coventry, and probably at least a 15 point deduction because the wanker owner hasn't paid players and staff. Again.

Cov fan here. I wasn’t at the match, but I’m glad to see our supporters joined in with the chanting against Chanseri. It’s unbelievable.

Tiswa · 06/10/2025 19:24

Sorry for 3rd post I didn’t realise Milan would play Como in Perth the jet lag!
