It is a tricky one because (and I am by no means a Chelsea fan) how can you punish the current owners for the previous owners cheating - especially considering they reported the financial inconsistencies straight away.

and why in earth wasn’t it found at the time?

Yes I can’t bear Chelsea myself but I did think this

does it sully though the period of 2009-2022 which was an amazing period and includes their Europa League and Champions League victories given it is the deals for Hazard, Willian and Eto’o becuase they were vital in that period and it seems to imply payments were made to get them to join

I wish you could punish Ken Bates if he was still alive, a very nasty man.

Because that is how takeover work.

It's exactly the same as the current owners of Harrods being responsible for Al-Fayed's abuse.

I think I heard that ToBo knew about the issues before he bought the club so he could have walked away or reduced the price he was willing to pay if he wanted to.

But even if he didn't know, it is his responsibility as it is up to him to do his due diligence.

MrsMitford3 · 12/09/2025 11:50

It does frustrate me that teams get the advantage in the season and then the punishment drags on and becomes less relevant -I am looking at you Man City with your 115 (although I think there are more now) charges which def allowed more spending and an advantage and it went on unpunished for years (and counting)

DuncinToffee · 12/09/2025 12:53

And now Chelsea have pre-agreed to sign a player for the summer transfer on a 7 year contract.

There might not be anything wrong with it but it stinks.

On a more positive note, Grealish named Player of the Month for the first time in his career.

Too many positve stories about Everton at the moment, I need a lie down Grin

I meant at the time of it happening not at takeover time (which is when it was found wasn’t it) the whole takeover was made trickier by assets frozen etc in terms of the war as well which is why it was up for sale

and financially yes I think he should be and I think will be responsible

Yes, and here's hoping that Slot's Manager of the Month will be the kiss of death like it usually is for Arteta.

TheNewGaard · 13/09/2025 13:02

What a goal!

TheNewGaard · 13/09/2025 14:15

"Are you Tottenham in disguise" 😂😂😂😂

Tiswa · 13/09/2025 14:27

Arsenals kiss of death usually is scoring a load of goals in one match then not scoring any in the next - it is what costs them the league IMO if a defence isn’t easy to break down they get frustrated and don’t score. So will be interesting to see the effect of the next two games (Man City and Newcastle) 4-6 points and goals scored and I think the title race really is on!

Although 4 midweek is also looking likely!

Tarkan · 13/09/2025 15:13

Hello from a rather rainy Gayfield. Got here before it started but it’s hitting the first few rows so I’m glad to be a little further back than that. And here’s the back of Neil Lennon’s head just beside the pole. 🤣

Just saw a tweet: only Wednesday could be 3-0 down to a team that has had only 2 shots on target

Well that was pish. 🙈

DuncinToffee · 13/09/2025 17:25

Just seen your result Tarkan 😬

We should have won. We played well, just the end product was missing today.

Tarkan · 13/09/2025 17:31

We had a bit of controversy as the offside flag went up for Dunfermline and then was taken down and they scored just after it. The ref was very card happy with us at first too then ended up with another with a player arguing with the ref over the offside. At least one more (if not two) goals were dodgy looking too. I mean we got to the point when someone was finally flagged as offside and there was a huge cheer for it.

But even with that we would still have lost as Lennon yelled to one of the fans near me.

Tarkan · 13/09/2025 18:59

Out of my three teams I’m up to 10 goals against us today. And we’ll see how the last 20 minutes goes at the London stadium as it could get worse.

MrsMitford3 · 13/09/2025 19:14

Ouch @Tarkan who are your 3 teams???

Tarkan · 13/09/2025 19:25

Arbroath, Rangers and West Ham. Lost 5-0, 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. Not a good day.

TheSleepingGiant · 13/09/2025 19:37

Good day for results here, was at Gillingham to see them beat Notts 1-0 then home to catch second half of Spurs game. My FPL looking better after Spurs result too.

No Manager of the Month curse for Ainsworth, unbeaten in 20 now. One more positive result next week and our club record will be broken 🙏

MiltonRoad · 13/09/2025 20:29

I was at the County Ground this afternoon - my local adopted team to see them go top of the league ❤️ onwards to the little match tomorrow at midday, unfortunately only an armchair viewer.
