@DuncinToffee he had plied his trade in lower leagues, a season of premier league and twice as many appearances as Lammens and had worked with experienced goalkeepers.

the Man Utd position is a poisoned chalice at the moment and I think maybe it is a season too soon. Martinez can be a twat but he is experienced at dealing with expectations and fans

He seems a nice bloke but he doesn’t in his interviews have that edge that you need to be a goalkeeper- Pickford always has!

Saw Dear England recently. The actor who plays Pickford embodies him brilliantly. Absolutely nuts!

Also seen Dear England and loved it 😍😍 Everyone on this thread should watch it! They’re actually making it into a TV mini-series, so hopefully we can do a watchalong at some point and discuss it together.

Nuno has gone - and apparently Ange is wanted.

DuncinToffee · 09/09/2025 08:26

Who would want to take that role after the way Nuno was treated.

Looks like Ange has now got the role! Good luck to him - I really do hope it goes well for him. He and the owner both have Greek heritage, so maybe that will help their working relationship - I don’t know.

I think very many Forest supporters will truly hope that is not the case

Ha probably. I still think they need a positive working relationship though!

Tiswa · 09/09/2025 09:43

Given Ange couldn’t manage a press conference without getting spiky I can’t see it working that well!

but yes it does seem social media is thinking it is him!

burblish · 09/09/2025 10:52

First Levy, now Marinakis - Ange must be some kind of masochist to even entertain the thought!

Tiswa · 09/09/2025 13:23

So the aim is clearly to screw the league (I guess last season proved Champions League via the league is tough and alongside a Europa league campaign near impossible) and focus on the Europa League and Champions League that way

basically have a Spurs season

Arsenal (fans) must be celebrating- 12:30 post international break fixture against Forest has just gotten a whole lot easier. Usually there is a positive move after a new manager but given he was liked and respected it is going to be interesting

CrossPurposes · 09/09/2025 13:38

@DuncinToffee I saw this and thought of you.

I guess I'd better get those Forest defenders out of my Dream Team...

Tiswa · 09/09/2025 14:05

I had benched Aina for Timber as I needed to rearrange after Saliba being injured! No matter what I like Raya and an Arsenal defender both cos it makes sense and it makes me feel better when Arsenal win/clean sheet!

Same, they will not be able to be box dominant from the half way line. Arsenals front line will have a field day Saturday.

Happy to see Ange back in the PL, will be an entertaining ride. Nuno will be snapped up I'm sure.

DuncinToffee · 09/09/2025 19:26

Nobody expecting a new manager bounce then?

Nobody expecting a new manager bounce then?

That’s the odd thing though isn’t it that there is no need 4 points from the first 3 games isn’t awful and is mid table!

burblish · 09/09/2025 21:02

How did England only win 2-0 against the mighty Andorra at home, thanks to an own goal and a second goal halfway through the second half, but are spanking Serbia 3-0 in Belgrade with only a few mins of the second half gone?

burblish · 09/09/2025 21:19

Oh dear, Serbia down to 10 men; the red was a bit harsh, maybe, but oh well - toodle-oo!

Edited as we scored again just after I posted - 4-0. It's going from bad to worse for Serbia. I like Dragan Stojkovic (what an incredible player he was in his day) but the openly racist elements amongst the Serbian fans stops me from feeling too sorry for them.

outofdate · 09/09/2025 21:49

Five goals and a much improved England.
At last we are running and working hard for each other. Some of the regulars may be feeling a bit worried.

Agree.

Unfortunately, England managers seem to be too loyal to their regulars.

I shouldn't admire him for it but his response to burglars a few years ago brought a smile to my face.

What happened?

He detained one of them and they ended up in hospital for three days. Both the men who attempted to burgle his house ended up with prison sentences.

MrsMitford3 · 11/09/2025 14:33

It would probably be more impactful if the charges and punishment actually took place in the season in which they occurred...

I doubt anything will happen
