As in previous years, footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  4. A thought on this season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/any leagues world wide/fallout from the World Cup.)

I'm really pleased with our form at the moment. We seem like a cohesive team that wants to do well. It's weird that our new manager is called Emery when our grounds are the Emirates. The last manager was called Arsene when we're called Arsenal. Fate?!

Dickybow321 · 12/11/2018 02:57

Seriously, though, where do you Arsenal fans on here think we have the potential to reach? Ie what positions in the PL ?

NaiceShoes · 03/12/2018 20:08

@BelfastBloke where have you gone? 😭I want to talk about yesterday! Grin

BelfastBloke · 04/12/2018 06:42

Sorry @NaiceShoes ; you're right. Arsenal 4-2 Spurs.
It was so joyous in the stadium. Especially the way it happened. Going ahead 1-0, then going in at the break 1-2. A double substitution at half-time (Wenger never did that!) brought about the win.

As every christmastime, the blokes around me shared our hip flasks. The old geezer behind me, after the 4th goal, was hugging us and telling us "I love you, I love you".

We had the 'Sol Campbell has won the double" song, and the "Torreira" song, and the "Shit club; no stadium" song.

"our new manager is called Emery when our grounds are the Emirates. The last manager was called Arsene when we're called Arsenal."

Dickybow, I love nominative determinism

You were there, you lucky sod! 😁That game is going to keep me happy for such a long time. I watched MOTD twice after the match 🤣
I can't wait for tomorrow. DP is a man u fan as is his stepdad. He's coming round to watch it with us. So it'll be me and DS rooting for Arsenal and those two on the other side. I'll report back. Our family might not survive. Grin

I've learnt a new concept today: nominative determinism!

NaiceShoes · 04/12/2018 10:34

Your predictions for the score line?

BelfastBloke · 04/12/2018 14:42

also under Nominative determinism:
Mancini at Man City

the poster called @WhiteHartLane is very quiet, I notice.

and @Yvaine1 must be looking forward to Arsenal's visit to Manchester United.

NaiceShoes · 04/12/2018 14:45

I'm hoping for 3-0. Auba, Laca and Iwobi Grin
I really want Iwobi to start being good!

But our record against Man U is dire so this is wishful thinking.

BelfastBloke · 04/12/2018 15:18

Guardian journalist Barry Glendenning, on Football Weekly podcast: "I still think Arsenal will finish second. I think they'll finish ahead of Liverpool ... I thought that performance [against Spurs] was just outstanding, and if they play anywhere near that level against United on Wednesday they will absolutely batter them and probably put José Mourinho out of a job."

OP posts:
Yvaine1 · 04/12/2018 16:03

It's that horrible moment when you DO hope you get battered so as to help lance the Mour virus. To trash up metaphors dreadfully....

Just not by The Arse, Citeh, Chelski......Or St Ambrose under 11s girls team.

WhiteHartLane · 04/12/2018 18:43

Ahh @belfastbloke give me a chance to respond ive been working sulking result aside it was an excellent derby and the best team won. Emerys second half subs changed the game and spurs had no answers. Will be watching the arsenal game tomorrow on mute and listening to 705 to catch spurs. Everyone happy with their teams fa cup draws?

NaiceShoes · 04/12/2018 20:11

I follow Guardian football but hadn't seen this actually! Omg I'll be so happy if this happens. Is he an Arsenal fan though? 🤔

But tbh Man U have a habit of neutralising attacking teams. Do you remember their match against liverpool last season where they turned the seemingly unstoppable team into something unrecognisable. They did the same at the Manchester derby to delay city's claim on the title.

BelfastBloke · 04/12/2018 23:28

That was Glendenning on the Guardian Football podcast. He's not an Arsenal fan, he's a Sunderland fan.

I support Reading FC. Not having a great season so far! Dislike Liverpool. Only because everyone supported them at school. My DS18 hates football(not sure where I went wrong ) and DS17 supports Man Utd (I have totally failed as a parent!).

BelfastBloke · 09/12/2018 10:34

8th December results

Bournemouth 0-4 Liverpool

West Ham 3-2 Crystal Palace

Man Utd 4-1 Fulham

Congrats to the Spurs and Liverpool fans on getting through the group stages of the Champs League.

Thanks Belfast. Nervy 90 odd minutes but happy all English teams are through. Well done to Arsenal for topping their Europa group.

BelfastBloke · 12/12/2018 21:11

I'm attending Arsenal in the Europa League tomorrow night. Should be seeing a fair amount of the kids, eh?

But will he give Oziil a run-out?

OP posts:
LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 14/12/2018 19:35

Now for the draw.... Do think and know its way it's always been done that if you finish 3rd in CL group you shouldn't drop into Europa league. Shouldnt be given another chance. If out should be out.

BelfastBloke · 18/12/2018 11:38

Ho, ho Mourinho,
Ho, ho Mourinho.

HiHoToffee · 18/12/2018 11:50

Oops I completely forgot about this thread, namechanged slightly to honour our new manager Grin

Still frustrating to watch Everton but it is sooo much better than last seasons, progress is there but patience is required.
