That was absolutely superb. Easily the biggest upset ever in rugby. Just re-watched it on +1
Just when all the reasons for despairing of rugby were mounting up... a match like this comes along and reminds me why I love it so much. Brilliant refereeing as well.
I may have shed a tear at the sight of their elation.

I can't believe Japan won. That's outstanding.

I prefer the Italian anthem because I can basically sing "Italia" for the whole song and it fits the timing.

Wonder which French team has turned up today? I'm confused by the shirts.

Oh for fuck's sake. The IRB has to release a statement about this and actually add it to the Laws.

I'm not happy about the ref watching a replay and changing his mind.

I don't think I've seen France in red before.

Is this the WC in which the TMO becomes King?

GrouchyKiwi · 19/09/2015 20:32

Alas I think so, Moln.

Moln · 19/09/2015 20:33

Just googled and apparently they wore red this Six Nations. Mustn't have seen that match!!

Hello. I'm Cornish, not English, so I support Wales, but I'm a member at Quins, so I have to cheer on Robshaw, Marler & Mike Brown too. Add to that drawing Samoa & France in the office sweepstake & I'll be squealing myself hoarse over the next few weeks (hopefully). Getting very excited about having tickets for the Wales game tomorrow, as long as I can find somewhere to park.

Karen from Outnumbered is probably the world's most evil person.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/09/2015 20:44

Massive kick!

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2015 21:44

Joining thread a bit late, but I've read it all and I'm delighted to see some of my fellow sports fans from other threads on here Smile

I'm supporting England, but with Ireland a close second as it's my adopted home.

Loved Japan's win today. The whole family were yelling at the TV at the end. Still hoping for Italy to pull off a win against France, but don't think it's going to happen.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/09/2015 21:54

Ah well. The match started well and had a few exciting moments, but otherwise it was flat.

Looking forward to tomorrow's matches!

Hi Drama Smile

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2015 21:57

Hey Grouchy! Also looking forward to spending most of the day on the sofa tomorrow, switching between rugby and the Davis Cup.

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 08:55

I'm disappointed we don't have the right channel to watch the David Cup.

My baby slept badly last night so it's definitely going to be a quiet day of sport here. And there's F1 at some point too.

Luckystar1 · 20/09/2015 09:02

Sticker my DH is also Cornish (not English) it gets very confusing round here!!

The Japan match was epic! We love Japan so it was especially exciting. Watching the players and the fans was really special!

Moln · 20/09/2015 09:24

I was disappointed there wasn't more coverage of the celebrations of the Jspanese team and fans (or at least TV3 didn't)

Team USA not shaming themselves so far, their try was a cracking one.

Come on USA!

CordeliaFrost · 20/09/2015 14:02

Well yes, it's a loss, but I thought USA showed some really good moments today. Lots to work on, especially ball handling, and giving away lots of silly penalties. However compared to where American rugby was just a decade ago, real progress has been made, and it's good to see.

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 14:32

I thought (in the 10 minutes I watched) that the USA team had a lot of drive, so that's great. Support Samoa, though.

Based purely on anthem performance, I want Uruguay to win this one. That ending was smashing. (I know it won't happen, though.)

Moln · 20/09/2015 14:58

In barbers waiting on a DS. Keeping up to date with App. Would love Uraguay to win this.
