Good job by Wales there. It'll all come down to points difference in that group. Bit of a worry with all the injuries though.

Argentina obviously aren't looking for a clean game though, which is a pity. There's no shame in losing, if you do it with dignity.

honeysucklejasmine · 20/09/2015 17:21

Strike that, this is a dirty game all round!

cadnowyllt · 20/09/2015 17:22

Moments loss of function for McCaws cloaking device

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 17:56

It's a pretty scrappy, unattractive match all round.

NEHE you had one job!

vvviola · 20/09/2015 17:57

Things are a little tense in this house right now....

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 18:01

I decided to find out the result of the F1 because I knew this match would be stressful. Couldn't cope with a second stressful sporting event.

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 18:24

This is more like it.

A very pretty man just came on for Argentina. Did anyone catch his name? He's a back.

DramaAlpaca · 20/09/2015 18:26

I haven't spotted him yet. Too busy looking for glimpses of the lovely Dan Carter. Tis a pity he's a bit short for me Grin

vvviola · 20/09/2015 18:38

Phew.

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 20:15

I found him for you, Drama.

Oooh, thank you Grouchy!

GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 20:34

You're welcome. Wink [lascivious leer]

I think this is the chap I saw. He's 24. It makes me feel so old. Sad

Morning all. Too busy quaffing beer and watching rugby to post last night Grin

Well, weren't Wales turgid? I don't know what it is about lower tier sides, we just can't stop ourselves getting dragged down when we play them. Uruguay did a really good job of disrupting our game and probably deserved more from that.

We're really up the creek with injuries too. Just 2 fit props (we need 4), full back looking very vulnerable with Liam Williams out for at least the England game... makes me wonder what on earth the training regime was. Grumph.

Argentina played a bloody good game though, not sure the ABs will cope that well with France, their likely QF opponents. I enjoyed that a lot.

No rugby for 2 whole days now....sob!

cadnowyllt · 21/09/2015 07:36

Morning Confused

I don't know we were as bad as all that - in terms of points, we have the maximum and the best points difference of any team so far. The Welsh team that played Uruguay wasn't ever going to be the team playing England, so they could go with different tactics.

Wonder if there are spare tickets to see Scotland v Japan at Gloucester - bet there were before Saturday.

GrouchyKiwi · 21/09/2015 08:24

confused I'm slightly worried we'll get a repeat of 2007 in the quarters if we do meet France - but only if it's the France that played for the first 20 minutes on Saturday.

confusedandemployed · 21/09/2015 08:36

I suppose you're right cadno (good name BTW!). We do have max points. But given our group I feel we needed 70-80 points because, although points difference has never had to be used in the world cup, it's quite possible it will be needed in this horrible group. And some players were frankly awful. Cuthbert - I mean, why on EARTH is he anywhere near this squad?!!

Kiwi France do seem to be your nemesis team. The good thing about that is they're so unpredictable that it's 50:50 as to whether they can be arsed to perform.

LovelyFriend · 21/09/2015 11:47

I've been having some lovely flashbacks to the first ever RWC in NZ/Oz and some of the shenanigans a 20 yo me got up to ................

theredjellybean · 22/09/2015 13:34

morning all...

wales were stodgy...and Uruguay were very fleet of foot and entertaining to watch.
does anyone else feel that tries won by the 'lets form a scrum type bundle and shove it over' a bit disappointing. I don't know...it just doesn't really show any true talent or skill ...just a case of we are bigger and stronger than you .

I must add to the up thread bit about attractive Argentinian...number 12 for Uruguay ( probs young enough to be my son) was very easy on the eye.

I am gearing up for tomorrow....australian jersey at the ready and teddy and small daughter ready to dress in australian kit too ( well dd after school)

She has proudly informed the games staff at school that she has dual nationality and as such has a responsibility to australia ...apparently according to her its in the constitution and as such she will be wearing her australian jersey during hockey team practice tomorrow not her regulation school one...i might go an put that on performance parenting/twattery thread....i am so proud !

theredjellybean · 22/09/2015 13:36

i have tkts for gloucester on saturday....very excited now...bought them originally as very cheap option to take dd and df to a game.

glad i did

teddy going in japan strip if granny can knit it quick enough

theredjellybean · 22/09/2015 13:38

my poor mother is knitting and sewing like bonkers as didn't realise teams all playing in various away and home kits...she had rashly promised dd a kit for each team for her teddy ( we have a soft toy version of rugby 7s WC going on in her bedroom at moment...complete with homemade score board/spreadsheet and some rather dubious rules she has made up herself...possibly the first female referee in mens rugby in the making)

GrouchyKiwi · 22/09/2015 16:59

red I love how into it your DD is. Grin Good on your mother for all that knitting!

confusedandemployed · 22/09/2015 17:28

red I guess you mean the rolling maul. It actually takes lots of skill to get one going with enough momentum. Your players also need to be skilled in ripping hands off the ball and protecting it from the opposition.

A try from a rolling maul is a proper 'forwards' try'.

Stickerrocks · 22/09/2015 20:00

Hoping that England and the Aussies will be knackered by the time they get around to Uruguay and won't be able to put many points on them. Uruguay were very nimble for a bunch of amateurs (literally).

We've got tickets for England v Wales veterans on Thursday at the Stoop. Very excited about seeing Shane, Williams, Gareth Thomas, Colin Charvis etc in action against Mike Tindall & co.

cadnowyllt · 22/09/2015 20:30

A England v Wales Veterans game sounds like a grand day out - enjoy !

Moln · 23/09/2015 16:30

Ah, poor Japan.

Four day turn around too much for them (or any team imagine)
