I love that Japan plays rugby. I wonder how it gained such a foothold there?

My husband will be off to Scotland -v- USA next weekend with his brother. They'll be cheering for USA, as they're American-born (but British-raised) too.

I would love to go, but we have an 11-week old daughter, so that's out of the question.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 21:35

I love that they're called the Brave Blossoms.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 21:43

I hate to agree with the commentators, but I do think the Fijians are getting tired.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 18/09/2015 21:48

I think so too but bloody hell they can run! So quick in the first half!

I've never seen that - it's brilliant. Love love love JL.Star

HairsprayQueen · 18/09/2015 21:56

I'm one of the annoying newbies they are having to explain things to.

Is it always so exciting? I'm enjoying it so much!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 21:57

Damn. Looked like a double movement initially, then a Fijian in the way, but good determination from England to end with the bonus point.

LovelyFriend · 18/09/2015 21:58

Legend!????Welcome hairspray

CordeliaFrost · 18/09/2015 21:58

Well it wasn't pretty, and the scoreline flattered England, but I'll still take it.

Ah found you lot (waves)
I'm mildly tipsy and have been pontificating to DH (who played club rugby for several years) about all the decisions. I am in fact an expert. Wine

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 22:01

I love that ad, Ego! And of course always enjoy Jonah trampling over Greenwood et al.

MrsTrentReznor · 18/09/2015 22:01

Grin lots of flapping and screaming in this house...

honeysucklejasmine · 18/09/2015 22:03

Not bad, not bad!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 22:08

TMO definitely had too much to say and I don't think they should be used like the touch judges. Don't think a World Cup is a good place for trialling new variations on the Laws.

Wish Fiji had been able to maintain intensity for the whole match. It was exciting when the teams were more evenly matched.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/09/2015 22:08

Majestic - are you like me - an expert on any sport once I have watched - say - about half an hour? WinkGrin

GiddyOnZackHunt · 18/09/2015 22:20

Just checking in to get myself on the board. Biting my nails already as a Welsh fan in the pool of death.
I love being in a crowd of mixed supporters. Rugby crowds are generally good natured and funny. I remember being at a crushing defeat for Wales and in the queue for the train station a car load of pissed opposing supporters drove past waving their flag and celebrating. The entire queue muttered as one but nobody did anything physical.

MajesticWhine · 18/09/2015 22:23

SDTG - yes, of course. Any sport will do, and I will provide an incisive analysis in no time Grin

vvviola · 18/09/2015 22:26

I had 20 minutes of Jonah Lomu's finest moments inflicted on me via YouTube last night. I retaliated with a 10 minute explanation of why Paul O'Connell is God. Grin

Feel sorry for poor Fiji, that score line was a bit flattering for England. Good start for England though in such a tricky group.

(Funny moment on Irish commentary as the Irish commentator asked his English co-commentator something along the lines of "do you thibk England have the mental capacity to know what's happening?"The silence was deafening Grin I don't think the poor Irish guy meant it quite the way it came out!)

Moln · 18/09/2015 22:29

Oooh I've found you!!!

English, living Ireland here.

Delighted with the result, but want to see the England that was playing in the latter part of the game for the rest of the World Cup please!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2015 22:35

Grin vvviola I wish we had the Irish commentary.
