pulling my hair out trying to book tickets atm

thekingfisher · 04/08/2012 19:47

trying to book - tickets have got through to the requesting stage but time waiting varies between 7 mins then goes back to at least 15 ...I am wasting my energies are there any likelihoods of getting tickets????

OP posts:
LeeCoakley · 08/08/2012 18:58

I wasn't trying to pull a fast one honest! I've just got so many windows open that I'm getting confused! It told me it 'couldn't process my request'. Not surprised.

MrsVamosGOTEAMGB · 08/08/2012 19:02

Oh, no, I didn't mean to imply that you were, at all !

I thought I might stand a better chance by selecting tickets for one night, then opening another window and quickly selecting the £50 tickets and trying...it makes no difference how quick you are, or how many windows you have open !

I think the 'couldn't process' is because, as Seb said last night, too many of us are trying to get tickets. (I think the sites crashing, they just wont tell us, and I am also wondering how many tickets are left...why not just sell whats left for £50 per ticket, or even £60, and give people a chance ?)

alp · 08/08/2012 19:04

Try following the twitter feed that shows when tickets are available - @2012TicketAlert Its just as frustrating as trying as the tickets have sometimes gone before you get there but I just managed to get some Race Walk tickets. Not the most exciting but hopefully the location (The Mall) and the fact that a medal is given will be exciting enough for the kiddies and make up for the fact that we didn't take DD to the Stadium last weekend as we only had two tickets.

Katisha · 08/08/2012 19:06

I now officially give up trying having wasted hours and hours over the last couple of weeks.

And I suppose there are enough people who WILL pay several hundred pounds to go per ticket but we really cannot justify that, however "once in a lifetime" it is.

Ephiny · 08/08/2012 19:10

Giving up here too, I think.

I thought it would be nice to see something, especially as we live pretty much just around the corner Hmm, but I can't justify spending £600+ on it, I'm not that keen on sports!

alp · 08/08/2012 19:13

No don't give up!!! We got tickets at 9pm
Last Friday night for the Saturday morning athletic session. Tickets were £95 each so it can happenGrin

LeeCoakley · 08/08/2012 19:44

Agree with making everything £50 ish. I can't justify anything over £65 and most of the stuff that comes up on Twitter is the £200+ range. Unless you are superfast of course! I've nearly given up nowSad

angel1976 · 08/08/2012 20:12

There's £50 tickets for men's hockey bronze medal match for Sat if anyone is interested...

angel1976 · 08/08/2012 20:13

Or not! As I tried to buy them and nada...

exexe · 08/08/2012 20:28

I would pay £125 a ticket but get nothing. I'd be happy with a ticket to just walk around the park. Its so annoying I can't even do that.

Ephiny · 08/08/2012 20:33

Yes I'd buy the £125 tickets if I could get hold of any, but £295 or more is just too much IMO, especially as I want two tickets. Only see the £725 ones on there now anyway :(

I will keep checking back in case anything more reasonable comes up, but it's getting quite frustrating and time-consuming!

LeeCoakley · 08/08/2012 20:35

I really think they could issue evening Park tickets this week. All the athletic ticket holders are in the stadium so it's not like it's choc-a-block with people. Witness the TV shots of the Park.

exexe · 08/08/2012 21:18

I agree with you Lee
I think I've come to terms with the fact that I won't get any tickets for the Olympics but I'm hoping to get tickets to the park and the Orbit once its all over.
I wonder if they'll be selling tickets soon for that?

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 08/08/2012 21:21

But by the evening, everyone who has been in the Park all day is still entitled to be there as there is no requirement to leave at any specific time. Lots of people have left to catch trains etc but security aren't checking people out so won't have a record of "spare space".

bisjolympics · 08/08/2012 21:30

Lots of Paralympic tickets just been made available.

angel1976 · 08/08/2012 21:30

I have to say the times I have been at the Park for events, it has been very busy. Even though it is a massive space (takes 30 minutes to walk from the main gate to the velodrome!), it is very noticeably crowded around the stadium area and queues to get into the park for the big screen (no idea why as the big screens are very visible from many spots around the park!) so I can imagine they cannot really allow extra 'visitors' in there while events are happening, crowd control will be a nightmare! I was in Barcelona a few years ago and I went to their Olympic Park. However, isn't there talk about the stadium being 'given' to West Ham football club? So I guess the feel of the place will be very different then if that is the case! :)

bisjolympics · 08/08/2012 21:50

I managed to get tickets for the track cycling and also to go up the Orbit. Weirdly even though they are for the same date I only got a print at home option for the cycling. The Orbit tickets have to be delivered or collected.

Stokey38 · 08/08/2012 21:55

Just got 3 Paralympic tickets to swimming

QuiteOldGal · 08/08/2012 22:02

3 paralympic swimming here also, had already got 3 athletic for evening on same day so really pleased.

angel1976 · 08/08/2012 22:18

Is it just me or have they just released a whole lot of Olympic day pass and orbit tickets for the Paralympics as well as a ton of tickets????

alibeenherealongtime · 08/08/2012 22:21

I've just got 2 for the opening ceremony! £125 each, a bargain@

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 08/08/2012 22:26

Lots of orbit tickets up for Friday, haven't seen any new day passes though. I think the orbit people talked LOCOG into increasing their capacity as they were handling the numbers ok.

BackforGood · 09/08/2012 00:46

Only ones I can find are for Orbit. They say you need Olympic Park Tickets too.
We've got 2 days we can go, but have been trying for tickets for ages, but not been able to book anything, despite not being fussy about what sport to watch.

AngelDelightIsIndeedDelightful · 09/08/2012 09:01

Right tomorrow is booked off work. I am going to get tickets tonight.....

Positive thinking does work doesn't it...... Grin

angel1976 · 09/08/2012 09:02

BackforGood I definitely saw swimming and Excel day passes tickets. But I think if you are limited to 2 days, that's probably quite limiting! DS1 goes to school on 4 September so it rules outs everything after that but luckily we got tickets to the athletics for the day before... Keep looking though as I am sre they will release more. From the stats, there's still about one-fifth of tickets yet to be released/sold.
